Pacific Rim Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Update SATURDAY – TUESDAY February 18-21, 2023 With improved understanding of pathophysiology and disease mechanisms and with technological advancements, the approaches to head and neck surgical disorders and head and neck surgery techniques continue to evolve at a rapid pace. The goal of this course is to provide an update on contemporary head and neck surgery and to foster educational interaction between practitioners from the Pacific Rim and beyond. A distinguished faculty will provide lectures, videos, panels, lightning rounds, and roundtable discussions. Ample time for questions and interaction with faculty is planned. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own cases for discussion. TARGET AUDIENCE This course is intended for practicing otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, dermatologic surgeons, advanced health professionals, and nurses. OBJECTIVES An attendee completing this course should be able to discuss and, as appropriate, apply: A structured approach to pediatric stridor The effects of SARS COV-2 on the ear and the OHNS spectrum of long COVID The current indication and efficacy of biologics in sinus disease The utility of 3D printing in head and neck surgery The role of maxillomandibular advancement in sleep apnea The current options for treatment of single sided deafness The current state of brain stem implants Optimal management of radiation associated dysphagia The use of endoscopes in orbital surgery ACCREDITATION The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 22.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.
