WARNING IMPACT AND MOVING PARTS ENTANGLEMENT HAZARD Failure to observe these instructions could lead to severe injury or death Always Read the Plow Operator’s Manual, the Winch Operator’s Manual and all warning labels before operating. Always use extreme caution when drilling on any vehicle. Make sure that all fuel lines, brake lines, electrical wires, and other objects are not punctured or damaged when/if drilling on the vehicle. Thoroughly inspect the area to be drilled (on both sides of material) prior to drilling, and relocate any objects that may be damaged. Failure to inspect the area to be drilled may result in vehicle damage, electrical shock, fire or personal injury. Always wear safety glasses when installing this kit. A drilling operation will cause flying metal chips. Flying chips can cause eye injury. Always use extreme caution when cutting and trimming during fitting. Always remove jewelry and wear eye protection. Never lean over battery while making connections. Never route electrical cables: o Across any sharp edges. o Through or near moving parts. o Near parts that become hot. Always insulate and protect all exposed wiring and electrical terminals. Always install terminal boots as directed in installation instructions. Always use appropriate and adequate care in lifting components into place. Always insure components will remain secure during installation and operation. Always tighten all nuts and bolts securely, per the installation instructions. Always operate the vehicle at a walking speed with the blade installed. Never exceed 5 mph (8 km/h), even with blade up. Always plow cautiously, impact with hidden or stationary object may cause the vehicle to stop suddenly or go out of control. Never operate the vehicle on slopes greater than 10 degrees with the plow installed. Never stand or ride on the plow. Always stay clear of moving parts and joints. Always keep others away when operating or adjusting plow. Always perform regular inspections and maintenance on the plow mechanism, fasteners, cable and related hardware. Always replace all worn or damaged parts before operating. Never operate this WARN product with damaged or missing parts. Always drive slowly over bumpy and rough terrain. Driving at speeds that cause the plow to bounce while in the up position can cause the winch to back-drive, causing the plow to work its way down. This may result in the plow impacting a stationary object and cause damage to the vehicle and operator injury or death. Always drive at speeds such that the plow does not bounce and be aware of the plow position while driving at all times. Always be aware that the purpose of the j-bolt is to break the connection between the plow and the winch, to prevent serious damage to the ATV if the plow is raised too high. The plow blade will drop suddenly if the j-bolt breaks, so always be sure there are no bystanders when you raise and lower the plow. Never raise the top of the plow above the headlights of the ATV, as it may damage the vehicle and plow. Always replace a deformed or broken j-bolt with the spare j-bolt included in the kit. Never overtighten the j-bolt to the bracket. Doing so will pinch the winch cable against the bracket, damaging the cable. Always put the end of the actuator cable through the slot in the Termination Bracket. Terminating the cable through any other hole in the bracket will cause the bracket to not function properly and will drastically reduce the life of the actuator cable. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Remove factory plastic skid plate. NOTE: Save hardware to reuse later. Figure 1 a. Remove four front bolts holding plastic skid plate in place. c. Use side cutters to pop out plastic snap rivit (one on each side). Set aside to reuse later. Figure 4 4. Figure 5 shows plastic skid plate removed. Front of Vehicle Figure 5 Next you will need to cut the plastic guard in order for the plow mount to fit correctly. NOTE: Suggested tools to cut skid plate: tin snips, hack saw or utility knife. 5. With plastic skid plate on a flat and level surface, line the rear of plow mount plate with the middle of the skid plate. 6. Using the plow mount plate as a template, mark the bolt holes on the plastic skid plate. 7. Remove plow mount plate and drill clearance holes for bolts, using the marks made in step 6. Mark bolt holes Figure 7 8. Place two of the M8 u-bolts near the center of the vehicle frame. Figure 8 9. Place plow mount plate in place and insert the u-bolts through plow mount plate holes. Front of Vehicle Fasten with (4) M8 locknuts Fasten with four M8 locknuts. Figure 9 10. Place the four spacers (two for each u-bolt) in between the plow mount plate and vehicle frame (lining up holes with mount). (1) U-bolt with (2) spacers (1) U-bolt with (2) spacers Place the last two M8 u-bolts over vehicle frame, and through the spacers and plow mount plate. Fasten with four M8 locknuts. 11. Re-install plastic skid plate, using original hardware (review step 1) . NOTE: You will need to cut some plastic away to clear plow mount ears. Plow mount 12. Tighten all hardware to torque specifications listed on page 3. Plow mount tabs Cut plastic Figure 11 ATTACH J-BOLT 1. 3 9, 8 Attach the J-bolt bracket (3) to the center hole in the plow crossmember using a M10 - 1.50 x 25 bolt (9) as shown. The bracket should be mounted on the blade side of the crossmember with the side flanges parallel to the ground. Terminate the bolt with M10 x 1.5 Hex Lock Nut (8). Tighten the bolt and nut to a recommended torque on page 2. Figure 12 - Installed J-bolt Bracket 2. Run the winch cable over the roller fairlead and down to the J-bolt bracket (3). Using a J-bolt (7), hook the loop on the end of the winch cable and slide the threaded end of the J-bolt through the round holes in the J-bolt bracket. The hook end of the J-bolt should slide into the slotted hole in the J-bolt bracket. Terminate the end of the J-bolt with a flat washer (11) and 1/4 - 20 lock nut (10). Tighten the nut until the winch cable is snug inside the J-bolt as shown. NOTE: Do not remove the winch hook installed on the end of the winch cable, simply slide it out of the way. 7, 11,10 Cable End CAUTION The purpose of the J-bolt is to break the connection between the plow and ATV when the plow is subjected to high forces that could damage the plow or vehicle. The plow will drop instantly if the J-bolt breaks, so be sure there are no bystanders when operating the plow. Instances when the J-bolt might break are: If the plow is raised too high and stalls. If the operator is trying to lift too much material with the plow blade. Figure 13 - J-bolt and Winch Cable In general, do not raise the top of the plow blade above the headlights of the vehicle. If the plow stalls, stop the winch immediately and lower the plow. After pushing material with the plow, backup the ATV prior to raising it. If the J-bolt breaks, replace it with the spare hardware found in this kit. TROUBLE SHOOTING Avoid engaging or removing the plow from the vehicle on uneven, sloped, or soft ground. Doing so may misalign the plow mount and make it difficult for proper engagement and disengagement of the retaining pins. If you are having trouble getting an alignment puck into the plow mount, it may need some simple adjustment. Ensure that the plow and vehicle are sitting level. Ensure that the plow base is in the center latched position. After using the plow, the winch cable may begin to tangle around the drum. To fix this, pull off the plow assembly and free spool the cable out of the winch. Once the tangled cable is pulled off the drum, switch the winch out of free spool and winch the cable neatly back around the drum. Do NOT grab the cable or winch hook, instead use the winch hook strap provided with your winch and follow the guidelines as described in the winching guide. MAINTENANCE / CARE Inspect all metal parts on the plow, plow mount, and related hardware prior to each use. Replace all parts that appear rusted or deformed. Inspect all nuts and bolts on the plow, plow mount, and related hardware prior to each use. Tighten all nuts and bolts that appear to be loose. Stripped, fractured, or bent bolts or nuts must be replaced. Check all cables prior to use. Replace cables that are worn or frayed. Check all moving and rotating parts. Remove debris that may inhibit the part from moving freely. See Warn Plow Operators Guide for more information. WARNING Failure to perform regular inspections and maintenance on the plow, plow mount, winch, and related hardware may result in vehicle damage and operator injury or death. Ne jamais faire passer des câbles électriques : o sur des bords tranchants; o par des pièces mobiles ou à proximité; o à proximité de pièces pouvant devenir chaudes. Toujours isoler et protéger tous les fils et bornes électriques exposés. Toujours installer les capuchons de borne de la manière indiquée dans les instructions d’installation. Toujours faire attention lors d’un déplacement des composants. Toujours s’assurer que les composants sont bien fixés durant l’installation et l’utilisation. Serrer toujours bien les écrous et les boulons conformément aux instructions d’installation. Toujours conduire le véhicule, équipé de la lame, à vitesse de marche. Ne jamais dépasser 8 km/h, même si la lame est relevée. Toujours utiliser la lame avec prudence. Tout impact avec un objet caché ou fixe pourrait bloquer soudainement le véhicule ou le rendre incontrôlable. Ne jamais conduire le véhicule équipé de la lame sur des pentes de plus de 10 degrés. Ne jamais se ternir debout ou à califourchon sur la lame. Toujours se tenir à l’écart des pièces mobiles et des joints. Ne jamais laisser personne s'approcher durant l’utilisation ou le réglage de la lame. Toujours effectuer régulièrement les inspections et l’entretien du mécanisme de la lame, des fixations, du câble et du matériel connexe. Remplacer toujours toutes les pièces usées ou endommagées avant l’utilisation. Ne jamais mettre en marche ce produit WARN avec des pièces endommagées ou manquantes. Toujours conduire lentement sur les terrains cahoteux ou accidentés. Une conduite à des vitesses qui secouent la lame alors qu’elle est en position relevée peut provoquer le déroulement du treuil, ayant pour effet de baisser la lame. La lame pourrait frapper un objet stationnaire et, par conséquent, endommager le véhicule et blesser l'opérateur, voire entraîner sa mort. Toujours conduire à des vitesses telles que la lame n’est pas secouée et en étant toujours attentif à la position de celle-ci. Ayez toujours à l'esprit que le crochet fileté a pour fonction de rompre la connexion entre la lame et le treuil pour éviter d'endommager sérieusement le VTT si la lame est relevée trop haut. Si le crochet fileté casse, la lame tombera brusquement. S'assurer donc que personne ne se trouve à proximité lorsqu'on lève ou que l'on abaisse la lame. Toujours éviter de relever le haut de la lame au-dessus des phares du VTT car cela peut endommager le véhicule et la lame. Remplacez toujours un crochet fileté déformé ou brisé par le crochet fileté neuf fourni dans le kit. Lire attentivement les instructions concernant l’installation et l’utilisation. c. Utilisez des pinces à tranchant latéral pour extraire la bouterolle en plastique (une de chaque côté) Mettez les pièces de côté pour les réutiliser plus tard. Figure 4 4. La figure 5 illustre la plaque de protection déposée. Avant du véhicule Figure 5 Vous devez ensuite couper la protection en plastique pour que le montage de lame s'ajuste correctement. REMARQUE : Outils suggérés pour couper la plaque de protection, scie à métaux ou couteau tout usage. 5. Placez la plaque de protection en plastique sur une surface plane et de niveau, alignez l'arrière de la plaque montage de la lame avec le milieu de la plaque de protection. 6. Utilisez la plaque de montage comme matrice pour marquer les trous de boulons sur la plaque de protection en plastique. 7. Déposez la plaque de montage de lame et percez des trous de dégagement en utilisant les marques faites à l'étape 6. Marquer les trous de boulon Figure 7 8. Placez deux boulons en U M8 à proximité du centre du châssis du véhicule. Figure 8 9. Avant du véhicule Positionnez la plaque de montage de lame et insérez les boulons à travers les trous de la plaque de montage de lame. Serrer avec (4) contre-écrous M8 Serrez avec des écrous de blocage M8. Figure 9 10.
