january 2020 Newsletter COVINGTON ELKS LODGE #1806 135 CROWELL ROAD COVINGTON, GA 30015 WWW.COVINGTONELKSLODGE1806.ORG ( 770) 787-9499 from YOUR EXALTED RULER: As we step into a new year, I’d like to remind everyone to please take a moment and support our Elks Pearl Harbor Campaign! Funds raised will be used to replace faded and peeling outdoor exhibits, build digital and interactive displays, modernize the museums, with iPads and touch screens, and install new programs and software. The ultimate goal is to have every Elk (nationwide) donate just one dollar, which would total 783,000 to help preserve our history. This campaign is particularly important to me and I would really like to see our Covington Lodge at 100% participation! - Chuck Myers 2020 ELKS OFFICERS EXALTED RULER Chuck Myers (470) 538-3040 LEADING KNIGHT Larry Denny (770) 900-9248 LOYAL KNIGHT Patricia Kirkpatrick (770) 388-7146 LECTURING KNIGHT Pat Telley (770) 639-0039 LODGE SECRETARY Brenda Buckner (770) 695-5420 LODGE TREASURER Anita Denny (770) 787-1020 LODGE TRUSTEES Cyrus Wolverton Lloyd Queen David Mayo Sid Reagan Billy Mashburn LODGE TILER Tim Myers From Chuck & Cathy LODGE INNER GUARD Joyce Mayo LODGE ESQUIRE Jim Kirkpatrick LODGE CHAPLAIN Scot Fincher COVINGTON ELKS – DECEMBER NEWS P age 1 6

ELKS CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT PEARL HARBOR January 7 At the 2019 Elks National Convention in St. Louis, PGER Mike Luhr issued a challenge to the Elks members to raise funds for the Pearl Harbor National Monument in Hawaii. With contributions from Elks across the country, we can preserve, restore, and modernize the USS Arizona Memorial. The Elks are partnering with the Pacific Historical Parks, a WWII-focused 501 (3) tax-exempt public benefit organization that oversees the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. Funds raised will be used to replace faded and peeling outdoor exhibits, build digital and interactive displays, modernize the museums, with iPads and touch screens, and install new programs and software. Collectively, these funds will help the museum better educate and serve all museum visitors. Our ultimate goal is to raise 783,000 (or a dollar per member) to truly help preserve history, perpetuate peace and reconciliation and ensure that the memories of our veterans are never forgotten. These contributions will help honor the service and dedication of Americans whose profound contributions to our nation should never be forgotten, so that generations to come will know and appreciate the enormous sacrifices of the Greatest Generation. Thank you to all who participated and truly helped make a difference in our community! A huge thank you goes out to Rene Vincent and Jeri Cleveland for this wonderful creative idea and for organizing the food drive! Thanks to David Miller for helping these ladies deliver the boxes of food throughout our community. In total, we collected over 35 boxes of food: 25 boxes were delivered to families at Fairview Elementary School, 4 boxes went to local church members, and the remaining boxes were delivered to Repairs of the Breach in Covington. The Lord welcomed home a fine Elk last month and said, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Please pray for his family during this difficult time.
