Volume 72APRIL 2016Issue 4www.pointpleasantelks.orgEddie the Elk Wearsa Bow for a Good CauseIn a better effort to connect with our community, we are going to put a bow on Eddie theElk (Elk out front) for different causes. April is Organ Donation Awareness month! Most ofus know someone who has had an organ donated to them. Do you know how to becomean organ donor? Please see the below article Grand Lodge wrote on Donate Life and signup to save a life!Organ & Tissue Donation ProgramThe Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the USA has joined forces with Donate Life America to increase donations of organs, eyes and life-saving tissue. The Grand Lodge, Fraternal Committee is asking Elks Lodges nationwide to promote the Organ Donor Program in their LodgeBulletins and Lodge Web sites to help inspire members and citizens in their communities to make these life-saving donations. The need is paramount. More than 110,000 patients were waiting for organ transplants as of March 2011, according to the Donate life America Web site, www.donatelife.net. Only 28,663 organ transplants had been performed in 2010, and even fewer 14,502 - organ donations had been made in that year.We Elks Members can help close the gap! The effort of Lodges to promote the program through their Bulletins and Web site cangain them five points in their quests to be named an All American Lodge. More incentives will be announced in coming years asthe program takes shape throughout Elkdom. For more information on the importance of donation and how to become a registered donor in your state, click on the DonateLife icon to go to the Donate LifeSM web-site, or by logging onto www.donatelife.net. This is a great way to show that "Elks Givefrom the Heart."

We dyed the eggs, ate lunch, had the hunt and back into the lodge for cupcakes, rice krispiestreats, goodie bags and prizes for our six winners. The grandmother of my dear little friend Darien "Squeaks" almost in tears thanking us for theinvitation to the hunt. Their family has gone through so much this past year. Darien, age 6, has gone throughbrain surgery and deals with issues every day. Thank God he is strong willed and is recovering and dealingwith his medical issues. It was nice to have her family there together to enjoy watching him have fun. Theygreatly appreciated us thinking of him. He's a kind, brave little man!I have to say that watching these kids dye their eggs and hunt for their eggs is priceless to watch.
