T-SB-0044-10 Rev2 January 27, 2010 High Beam/DRL Bulb Inoperative Service Category Vehicle Exterior Section Lighting (ext) Market USA Applicability YEAR(S) MODEL(S) 2008 – 2010 Avalon ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TSB REVISION NOTICE October 13, 2011 Rev2: The entire TSB has been updated. Production Change Information has been removed — TSB applies to ALL 2008 – 2010 model year Avalon vehicles. March 16, 2011 Rev1: Parts Information table has been updated. Any previous printed versions of this service bulletin should be discarded. Introduction On some 2008 – 2010 model year Avalon vehicles, the High Beam/DRL bulb may become inoperative earlier than expected. NOTE Although the High Beam and Daytime Running Light (DRL) operate on the same bulb, the High Beam/DRL light bulbs are separate from the headlights (low beams). This condition does not impact the ability to continue to use regular (low beam) headlights in the event a High Beam/DRL bulb were to become inoperative. 2011 Toyota Motor Sales, USA Page 1 of 5

Verify if the vehicle has updated headlamp assemblies installed using the information below. NOTE FOR FUTURE SERVICE When replacing a High Beam/DRL bulb, verify the correct bulb type and part number is being used. Revised headlamp assemblies (-07083 and -07093) use the HB3 type bulb, part number 90981-13046. Part number 90981-13066 is the proper HIR type bulb for previous headlamp assemblies. Bulb type must match the type specified on the housing it is installed in. Figure 1 illustrates the difference between the HIR type bulb (P/N 90981-13066) and HB3 type bulb (P/N 90981-13046). Note Bulb shape is not always an accurate indicator of bulb type (HIR or HB3.) Check the back or side of the bulb base for type. Figure 1. 2 1 1 HIR Bulb 2 HB3 Bulb NOTE Bulb shape may not always indicate if the bulb is a HIR or HB3 Type. Check the writing on the bulb base for type. 2011 Toyota Motor Sales, USA

Verify the type of headlamp housing installed by examining the front or back of the housing for “HIR” or “HB3”. The headlamp housing indicates the type of bulb to be used. Figures 2 and 3 show examples of locations of the correct bulb type. Figure 2. Bulb Type Location Figure 3. Bulb Type Location 4. If the indicated bulb type is HB3, the vehicle already has updated Headlamp assemblies and this TSB does not apply. 5. If the headlamp indicates HIR as the bulb type, go to step 6. 2011 Toyota Motor Sales, USA

Rev2 T-SB-0044-10 January 27, 2010 Page 5 of 5 High Beam/DRL Bulb Inoperative Repair Procedure (Continued) 6. Remove the headlamp assemblies. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year Repair Manual: 2008 / 2009 / 2010 Avalon: Vehicle Exterior – Lighting (ext) – “Lighting: Headlight Assembly: Removal” 7. Install the new headlamp assemblies. 2008 / 2009 / 2010 Avalon: Vehicle Exterior – Lighting (ext) – “Lighting: Headlight Assembly: Installation” NOTE Confirm the headlamp assemblies are properly aligned using the appropriate procedure in the Headlight Installation section of the Repair Manual. 8. After repair, confirm proper operation of the headlight system. 2011 Toyota Motor Sales, USA Copyright 2011 - 2017 Service Repair Solutions, Inc.

Encouraged by recent successes in applying deep reinforcement learning (DRL) techniques to solve com-plex online control problems, we study if DRL can be used for automatic TO without human-intervention. However, our experiments show that the latency of current DRL systems cannot handle ow-level TO at the scale of current datacen-
