She is helping with the training of NurseAnesthesia faculty and students. She was joined by Janet Dewan, PhD, MS,CRNA, a DNP Scholarly Project Advisor who spent three weeks there, consultingon and supporting curriculum design, classes, and clinical mentoring. Thisprogram is a joint venture between SEED Global Health Partnership and PeaceCorps.DNP Program Director MichelleBeauchesne, DNSc, RN, CPNP,FAAN, FAANP, FNAP presentedat the 9th International Council ofNurses (ICN) International CNNP/APNN) Conference in HongKong, September 9-11. DNP Faculty AccomplishmentsMichele DeGrazia (NRSG 7920, 7921, 7922) completed a phase 1clinical trial (safety and feasibility) of the Premie Pouch device toprevent deformational plagiocephaly (DP) in infants weighing 1kg; the findings of this study indicate the device is safe and feasible.Data also suggests the Premie Pouch is effective in managing DP,though further studies are warranted to confirm these results. Thisstudy was funded by Boston Children’s Hospital 2013 InnovationAcceleration Program (IAP) Innovestment Grant Program and theDepartment of Nursing. Additional funding was received fromPlagio LLC, Avon MA.Richard Ricciardi (NRSG 6302) had a number of blogs featuredon the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality websiteincluding this one: Create Positive Change – Lead from the ate-positivechange.html.Kelly McCue (NRSG 5121), the Operations Manager of Oncologyand Breast at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, is now also theAdministrator for the Center for Wound Healing. This responsibilityincludes operative oversight of the wound clinic and hyperbaricoxygen chambers. (The only one in the state of Vermont). In May2016, Kelly started the Cancer Risk Assessment Program at thehospital in collaboration with the genetic and high-risk counselors ofthe oncology and surgery departments. She also received a grant inJuly 2016 from the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
