Sullair SRL Cycling* Refrigerated Dryers Reduce YourCost of Producing Highest Quality AirWhy You Need a Compressed Air DryerCompressed air is a vital source of energy forindustry. Quality air treatment—particularlythe removal of condensate—is oftenoverlooked. When cooled, condensatewill turn into water, damaging both thecompressed air system and product orprocess. Sullair SRL Series refrigerationdryers remove condensate to achieve near perfectly drycompressed air. The benefits to you are: Less system downtime Reduced costs and maintenance Improved finished productAir demand and heat load fluctuate duringthe day. Temperatures fluctuate throughoutthe year, such that the dryer may rarely, ifever, operate at full load.By choosing a dryer that matches powerconsumption to actual operating conditions,a significant amount of energy and energycost can be saved.Design Load1008060LoadRefrigerated air dryers rarely operate at fullload. They are sized for maximum operatingconditions – usually the hottest time of day atthe hottest time of year with the aircompressor at full load – however this israrely the case.Key Features: Optimum dew point levels for the highest systemperformance Advanced patented designs Cycling control for increased energy savings* Energy efficient scroll compressor* Lowest total operating costs Lowest average pressure differential of 2.0 psig Environmentally friendly R407c refrigerant Zero air loss drain Optional communications packageSummer40Mid-SeasonWinter200TimeThe graph above illustrates how heat loads fluctuate season to season. The SRLrecognizes these fluctuations, maintaining dew point while maximizing energy efficiency.R407C: Friendly and Efficient RefrigerantThe Most Environmentally Friendly RefrigerantIt’s More Efficient Than Any Other Refrigerant:R407C is used on all SRL dryer models. Why? With R407Cbeing the most environmentally green refrigeranton the market, as well as being the mostefficient, its many benefits made it anobvious choice: Zero ODP, ensuring compliance withthe Montreal Protocol Lowest global warming potential No damage or depletion of the ozone layer No planned phase-out dateIn addition to having the lowest environmental impact,R407C offers lower power consumption. This refrigerant isso efficient, smaller refrigerant charges are required andtherefore use of a smaller refrigerant compressor. More efficient Less refrigerant required Smaller refrigerant compressor Lower power consumption*From SRL-3253

Why You Need a Sullair SRL Cycling RefrigeratedCompressed Air Dryer! The now dry but cold air passes back through the returnside of the air-to-air exchanger, where it is heated up bythe incoming air. This process not only saves energy bypre-cooling the inlet air, but also heats the exiting air towell above dew point and prevents sweating in thepiping.Digital dew point displaySelf diagnostic control with warnings and alarmsCycling ControlOptional R485 BMS interfaceThe SRL Series multifunction Cycling Control* provides aversatile platform for user interface and precise dew pointcontrol. Cycling Control continually monitors the demandplaced on the dryer. At conditions of low demand, therefrigerated compressor is cycled off to save energy. Aformulated procedure continually adapts the operation ofthe dryer for optimum energy efficiency whileDew Pointminimizing the dew point spikes.Compressed Air InCompressed Air OutCoolant OutTemperatureSensorin Air FlowHow It WorksThe hot wet air enters the SRL Dryer, where itimmediately passes through the air-to-air exchanger, which cools the incoming air with the exiting air. This precooled air then enters the evaporator, where it is furthercooled by the refrigerant, to achieve the dew pointtemperature. Because of this cooling process, thecondensate in the air has now become a liquid and isefficiently separated by the demister, then removed bythe condensate drain.Coolant InCondensate Outlet* included on all models SRL-325 and largerIntelligent Integral Zero-Loss DrainThe Drain Is One of the Most Important ComponentsDryer models SRL-325 and largerutilize a truly unique zero air lossdrain integrated into the heatexchanger. Condensate iscollected in a chamber, segregated from the air flow. Ascondensate builds, it activates adrain level sensor built into thechamber. This opens an externalsolenoid valve to evacuate thecondensate, closing the valve againbefore any air escapes. The draincycle continually adjusts itself toworking conditions.4Self-diagnostic software avoids fault situations. And shouldan error occur, an alarm will be signalled and the drain willcontinue to operate on a pre-programmed timeddrain cycle. The controls for the drain are part ofthe microprocessor’s fully integrated control andalarm system.Sullair offers a drain alcove on all its standarddryers. This simple solution is a major benefit tothe user. The drain is oneof the most importantcomponents within thedryer. If it doesn’t workproperly the dryer’s wholeoperation is compromised. The alcove offers simple accessto perform any requiredmaintenance.

Features That Make Them EfficientDemister SeparatorSullair uses a high capacity demister separator to removecondensed liquids. This lowers the air velocity whichmaximizes the condensate separation from the air, evenwhen the dryer is not operating at maximum flow. Thisdesign also ensures the differential pressure across thedryer is kept to a minimum.Lowest Differential PressureSRL dryers have an average of 2.0 psid versus theindustry average of 5.0 psid.Example: 500 scfm dryer operating 8760 hours per year 0.05 per KW 546 per year 0.10 per KW 1091 per year 0.15 per KW 1638 per yearOperating Costs Separator EfficiencyOversized Slowflow Demister Moisture RemovalCentrifugal SeparatorStandard Demister SeparatorAir Flow012345Dryer Pressure Drop (psig)Oversized Condenser and PrefilterSRL Series dryers have been designed with oversizedcondensers to allow operation up to 140 F (60 C) air inletand 122 F (50 C) in high temperature ambients. It’s a fact: in addition to poor ventilation, compressorrooms are often dirty. That’s why Sullair uses a condenserpre-filter to reduce maintenance requirements, improveperformance and achieve reliability in these dirtyenvironments.Efficiency and Reliability inCompliant Scroll CompressorsThese compressors employ twoidentical, concentric scrolls, oneinserted within the other. One scrollremains stationary as the other orbitsaround it. This movement draws gasinto the compression chamber andmoves it through successively smaller“pockets” formed by the scroll’srotation, until it reaches maximumpressure at the center of the chamber. There, it’s released through a discharge port in the fixedscroll. During each orbit, several pockets are compressedsimultaneously, so operation is virtually continuous andpulse-free.Benefits are: A higher efficiency rating leads to energy savings ofover 20% Extremely high reliability due to reduced vibration levelsand fewer moving parts Compliant technology offers near indestructibility, evenpermitting liquid refrigerant returns.5
