A MESSAGE FROMTHE PRINCIPALCONTENTSThe General Capabilities include Literacy, Numeracy,ICT, Critical and Creative Thinking, Personaland Social Capability, Ethical and InterculturalUnderstandings. The Cross Curriculum Prioritiesfocus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait IslanderHistories and Cultures, Asia and Australia’sEngagement with Asia, and Sustainability.The senior secondary curriculum, the SACE (SouthAustralian Certificate of Education), addresses thesame Capabilities. When you undertake the SACE,you are required to select from subject outlines andfamiliarise yourself with the 200-point curriculumstructure and the compulsory aspects of the SACE.The compulsory requirements are achievement inliteracy, numeracy, the Personal Learning Plan (PLP)and the Research Project. The PLP and the ResearchProject provide you with new challenges and learningopportunities.This Guide is divided into year levels from Year 8to Year 12 and includes a section on VocationalEducation and Training (VET).At Adelaide High School we are passionate aboutlearning and assisting students to reach their personalbest. This Curriculum Guide is designed to guide youin your curriculum choices as you move from Year 8to Year 12.It is not uncommon for students at Adelaide HighSchool to study subjects from more than one year levelat any given time, and so we have provided courseoutlines in one book to assist you in planning yourpathway. We have a commitment to tailoring studentlearning to your needs and abilities.It contains information to assist you in makingchoices which broaden and deepen your educationalexperience, and to map your pathway within andbeyond secondary school.
