Take one 3 1/2" x 9 1/2" rectangle from fabric A andattach it to the top of the previously sewn piecehorizontally. At this point you are done with half of the block. You should make twenty blocks in order to completethis quilt. All of the blocks are constructed with the sametechinique and order but there is some fabricplacements for B and D (fabrics A and C remain thesame in all of the blocks)(DIAGRAM 4)AASSEMBLING THE TOPSew all rights sides together with ¼" seamallowance. Press open.ABC This quilt is compose of five rows with four blocksA Follow the cover photo to help you in the assemblingeach.of this quilt top. For the other half of the block attach one 3 1/2" x 121/2" rectangle from fabric D to one 3 1/2" x 12 1/2"rectangle from fabric A in the order DA on the longside of the rectangles. Start from the left following a vertical order. Press seams open as you sew.QUILT ASSEMBLY(DIAGRAM 5)Sew right sides together. Place BACKING FABRIC on a large surface wrong sideDup. Stretch it with masking tape against that surface.A Place BATTING on top of backing fabric. Place TOP on top of the batting with right side facingup. Smooth away wrinkles using your hands. Pin all layers together and baste with basting thread, Take one 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangle from fabric Aand attach it to the bottom edge of the DA piecehorizontally.using long stitches. You can also use safety pins to jointhe layers.(DIAGRAM 6) Machine or hand quilt starting at the center andworking towards the corners. Remember that quiltingmotifs are a matter of personal preference. Have funchoosing yours!D After you finished, trim excess of any fabric or batting,Asquaring the quilt to proceed to bind it.BINDINGASew right sides together. Now that you have the two halves of the block ready,attach them together on the long edge. Cut enough strips 1½" wide by the width of the fabricF to make a final strip 280" long. Start sewing thebinding strip in the middle of one of the sides of the(DIAGRAM 7)quilt, placing the strip right side down and leaving anAapproximated 5" tail. Sew with ¼" seam allowanceA(using straight stitch), aligning the strip’s raw edgewith the quilt top’s raw edge.ABCADAAABCADAA

Stop stitching ¼" before the edge of the quilt(DIAGRAM B 1). Clip the threads. Remove the quiltfrom under the machine presser foot. Fold the strip inStop stitching hereDIAGRAM B1a motion of 45 and upward, pressing with your fingers(DIAGRAM B2). Hold this fold with your finger, bringthe strip down in line with the next edge, making ahorizontal fold that aligns with the top edge of thequilt (DIAGRAM B3). Start sewing at ¼" of the border,stitching all the layers. Do the same in the four cornersDIAGRAM B2DIAGRAM B3fold45 of the quilt. Stop stitching before you reach the last 5 or 6 inches.Cut the threads and remove the quilt from underthe machine presser foot. Lay the loose ends of thebinding flat along the quilt edge, folding the endsback on themselves where they meet. Press themtogether to form a crease. Using this crease as thestitching line, sew the two open ends of the bindingwith right sides together (you can help yourselfmarking with a pencil if the crease is difficult to see). Trim seam to ¼" and press open. Complete thesewing.
