Have them identify thesubject, verb, and object.3

B.Body/Developmental Activities1.Introduce active and passive voice. Discuss the following points: Voice is the quality of the verb that tells whether the subject is the doer orthe receiver of the action. Active voice is used to indicate that the subject of the sentence is the doerof the action. Passive voice is used to indicate that the subject of the sentence is the doerof the action. Why use the passive voice? If the doer is unknown, if the doer is not asimportant as the action carried out and for the element of surprise.2.Show the students more examples and ask them to analyze which sentences arein the active voice and which are in the passive voice.3.Ask the students to answer the exercise below.Identify the voice of the verb in each sentence.Answer1.Ada cooked a sumptuous dinner.Active2.He plays basketball every Saturday.Active3.My classmate was hit by a car.Passive4.The children baked cookies.Active5.The annual report was presented by the chairman.Passive4.Discuss the changing of voice from active to passive and vice versa. Ask thestudents to observe the following sentences:ActiveThe mother carried the baby.Father repaired the old table.Jenn explored the famousunderground river.1.2.3. 41.2.3.PassiveThe baby was carried by the mother.The old table was repaired by father.The famous underground river wasexplored by Jenn.To change the sentence from active to passive, we just make the directobject the subject of the sentence and the subject or the doer is placed withthe by-phrase. The verb is written in this format: be verb past participle ofthe main verb.
