Thisis part of our rebranding campaign thatlaunched in June. While we are busyupdating our logo and materials, manythings have – and will – stay the same:our mission and vision, our strongbelief that together more is possible, our person-centered approach and theopportunity to be extraordinary. The Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemichas brought many opportunities for us tobe extraordinary – many more than weever imagined. Now, more than ever, wehave had to look to our mission to guideus during this difficult time. For thesafety of our persons served, we have hadto adhere to guidelines that go againstall we know about what makes us a greatbrain injury rehabilitation center. Halls, while pristine and sanitized, are empty. Our cafeteria, usually bristling withactivity, is empty. Families, who havebeen at the heart of many of our services, are absent. Yet we persist. Our team has stepped up in a multitudeof ways. There are countless examplesof ways our team thought outside of thebox to continue to engage our personsserved. I hope you follow us on Facebookand Instagram to see the ways ourteam collaborated to make their rehabexperience meaningful and memorableduring this incredibly difficult time. Weare grateful, too, for the support of ourcommunity. We have had hundreds ofhomemade masks donated, cards mailedto our persons served, food delivered forour staff and notes of encouragement toour team. Together, more is possible.Sincerely,Jean Shelton, CEO

Evie has gainedstrength and determinationthrough lots of hard workfrom both Evie and hertherapists.”“We work with Evie to helpher to move as independentlyas possible so that she canparticipate and interact withher peers at school and takecare of herself at home,” saidGina. “Recently she mixedup a batch of cookies and Iwas able to help her to bakethem. During our sessionwe worked on standingendurance and balance whiledropping the cookies on thecookie sheet. The best partfor me, however, was to seeEvie’s face of pride when herdad and sister came to pickher up.”“They said I may never walkor ride my scooter again, and I said, ‘Watch me.’ I beatbrain cancer and I learned towalk again,” said Evie. “OnWith Life is awesome.”BY FAMILIES,FOR FAMILIESJoseph Hanson suffered anaortic dissection and seriesof strokes at just 46 yearsold.
