TAPI TARANGTerm ACOMMENCEMENT DAYTo mark the beginning of a new Academic Session2013-14, DPS Tapi hosted the traditionalCommencement Day, an inaugural gathering of thenew students and parents of DPS Tapi family on 25March 2013. This ceremony welcomes the newstudents and parents into the DPS Tapi family. Wecommenced the occasion by lighting the VidyaDeepam– the lamp of learning, followed by amusical presentation by the school choir andorchestra of students and teachers followed by acontemporary dance fusion, performed by thestudents and teachers. After the formal introduction,parents and students then interacted with the classteachers, joining hands for a new LearningPartnership connection.Celebrating Our Feathered FriendsKeeping a close watch on the baby sparrows,feeding them and being sensitive to their coexistence in the school campus is the routine ofstudents and teachers on campus. All the classescelebrated the Sparrow Week from 1-5 April 2013,in an effort to know our feathered friends better.Presentations and interactive books on sparrowswere shared with the students by the teachers.Young children also enjoyed making small artifactsmarking this celebration. It was learning to livewith the little creatures around the campus.Visit to the Agriculture FarmOn 3rd April 2013 Class II went on for ExperientialLearning to a local agricultural farm focusing onsugarcane and rice as major crops in this area. Thestudents asked the farmers different questions onrainfall, soil and climate suitable for these crops.Ambedkar JayantiAmbedkar Jayanti is observed at DPS Tapi on 14April every year to commemorate the memory ofBabasaheb Ambedkar. To mark this occasion, on 15April 2013, the students of Class VI presented a skiton how Dr. Ambedkar faced the challenges of beingan untouchable and how he safeguarded the rightsof the underprivileged in the Indian Constitution.

World Heritage DayWorld Heritage spreads awareness on the shared wealthof mankind. Protecting and preserving this valuableasset demands the collective efforts of the internationalcommunity. The students of Class VII conducted aspecial assembly on 17 April 2013, highlighting theimportance of world heritage sites in Gujarat, India andacross the globe. There was also an interesting quiz onthe topic. It was an interesting and informative way tostart the day.Class-Deco CompetitionThe whole school participated in the first Class-DecoCompetition of the new academic session on 18 April2013. The students worked enthusiastically, decoratingthe bulletin boards, arranging and re-arrangingfurniture in innovative ways and thus bringing new lifeinto the classrooms. The Pre-Primary wing, Classes III, Classes III-V, and Classes VI-VIII were judged inseparate categories. The results of the -AVII-AVI-ACATEGORIESMeeting Farm AnimalsThe students of Class I went for anExperiential Learning trip to a localanimal farm on 18 April 2013. Thishelped them to learn about thecontribution animals make to humanactivity and livelihoods. Teachersand students shared many animalfacts and details about the animalsthey saw. They enjoyed all theexcitement.Earth DayDPS Tapi strongly supports the conservationof nature and natural resources. Earth Daycelebrates Earth's unique place in theuniverse. The students of Class VIIIpresented a skit on the values ofconservation on 22 April 2013. The studentsalso presented a song composed by KaranGarg, Shreshth Gupta, Sahil Shah and YojitBhasin on conservation.Ramnavami and Mahavir JayantiCross-cultural and religious awareness isan essential aspect of learning at DPS Tapi.A special assembly was organised by thestudents of Class III on 24 April 2013 tomark the occasion of Ramnavami andMahavir Jayanti. The students shared thestories and significance of these holy days.

Founder’s DayFounder’s Day marks a very special moment inour annual school celebrations. It is when thespecial talents and effort of all students fromPre-Nursery to Class VII are acknowledged andrewarded. Founder’s Day for 2012-13 wascelebrated on 25 April 2013. Our teachersawarded the certificates and trophies forscholastic and co-scholastic achievements totheir students.World Dance Day and Inter House GroupDance CompetitionDance channels physical energy through rhythmicand harmonic body movement. Dancers experienceand express oneness in group dance. The studentsof Classes III-IX participated in the Inter HouseDance Competition on 27 April 2013, doing theirown choreography and presenting the result withgrace and elegance. Dhatu House was declared thewinner, followed by Jivam and Vayu in the secondand third positions respectively. The students ofClass IV also had a special assembly on WorldDance Day on 29 April 2013 and recited a poemwritten by Lin Hwai for the 2013 InternationalDance Day. Congratulations on a lovelypresentation!Mother’s DayClass IV conducted a special assembly tohonour their mothers on 29 April 2013.The assembly began with a prayer,followed by a skit on Mother's Day. Thestudents also presented an acrostic poemon the word MOTHER and sang abeautiful song for their beloved mothers.Dance CampAll the budding dancers of Classes VI-IX participatedin the six-day Dance Camp from 29 April to 3 May2013. Children learned the basics of two forms ofclassical Kathak and Bharatnatyam. Inter DPS Hindustani Vocal Music FestivalStudents from Classes VI-IX participated in theInter DPS Hindustani Vocal Music Festival heldon 4 May 2013, hosted by DPS Gandhinagar underthe categories of group and solo performance.Kaushik Mahesh of Class VII participated in the solocategory. The DPS Tapi group presented a patrioticsong – Ekta Yahan Ki Shaan-e-watan, with themusic composed by our music teacher Mr. SumanDesani. Teachersof Pre-Nursery and Classes I, III, VI and IXwelcomed the students to a fresh level ofchallenges with special mementoes like badges,graduation caps and fun rites of passage,marking the beginning of a new AcademicSession on 4 May 2013.Music CampMusic develops social skills, emotional skillsand concentration. Learning to communicatethrough sound and silence, the students ofClasses VI-IX participated in a music campfrom17-21June2013.Studentsenthusiastically learned different instrumentsand melodies. They made a presentation oftheir newly acquired skill in a specialassembly.

Second Class-Deco CompetitionThe students participated in the Second Class DecoCompetition on 18 June 2013. Theypresented a beautiful song tomark the occasion and sharedinformation on the history ofmusic.Nature Club VisitThe students of Classes III-V shared anexperiential learning session on snakes andreptiles with the Prayas Team on 25 June 2013.The students saw venomous snakes like sawscaled viper and learnt about their food, habitatand special place in the eco-cycle. Medicalinformation on snake bites was also shared.Inter House Music CompetitionThe students of Classes III-VIII participated inthe Inter House Group and Solo MusicCompetition on 29 June and 6 July 2013 tocelebrate World Music Day. Jivam House wasdeclared as the Winner, followed by Bhumi andVayu in the second and third positions,respectively.Crafting CreativityThe students of Classes VI-IX participated in theDPST Art and Craft Camp from 1-5 July 2013.They made hobby horses and visual-puzzle paintingduring this camp. This camp concluded with anartistic exhibition of the camp artifacts.

Dancing ShowersThe students wait eagerly every year forour annual Monsoon Dance. This year, allclasses from Pre Nursery to Class IXwelcomed the seasonal rains and enjoyeddancing to the tunes of happiness on 4 July2013. It was a memorable day for both staffand students.Rendezvous with Budding StarsRendezvous, a popular event for the young stars of PrePrimary, took place from 8-12 July 2013. Our youngeststudents loved sharing their school experience with theirparents. Their parents also enjoyed their glimpse into theLearning Partnership at school, including iPad sessions,dance, music, art and craft. It was a great learning window forthe new parents.Father's Day OutTo enable students to spend quality time with their otherwise busyfathers, we invited the fathers of Class IV students to visit school from10-16 July 2013. Those who accepted the invitation were a great hit.Saumya's father, Mr. Saurabh Shah and Parth's father Mr. JitendraDarshan shared their childhood experiences with the students. Mr. Shahdiscussed the benefits of indoor and outdoor games and played Chain,Kho-Kho and memory games with the students. Mr. Darshan discussedthe importance of drinking water with the students, shared an inspiringvideo and played a dictation game with them. Sneha's father, Mr.Lokendra Singh talked about global warming and it’s after effects .Mr.Saxena, father of Anushka Saxena, shared the importance of establishedroutine in life.IkebanaThe students of Class IV had an Experiential Learning session on Ikebana or the art offlower decoration and making bouquets on 11 July 2013. Mr. Setiyar explained theimportance of theme, colour schemes and types of flowers in making a bouquet, and thedifferent types of flower arrangements for different occasions. The students madebouquets indifferent flower arrangements and enjoyed themselves as blossomingflorists.World Population DayThe students of Class IX presented a special assembly on 12 July 2013 onWorld Population Day. They shared the alarming outcomes of populationexplosion – the means to control such rapid growth. They debated on thetopic of population growth and presented a song on this theme. To pay atribute to cloudburst, declared in the hills, they also presented a dance-dramaon the victims of Uttarakhand, an over-population disaster, with a beautifulpoem composed by Mr. Jayesh Shukla, our Hindi Teacher.
