1 Getting startedThis chapter provides an overview of HP Command View EVA and describes procedures to start andconfigure the user interface after you install the software. It also provides an overview of the userinterface layout and organization.OverviewHP Command View EVA is the graphical user interface through which you can configure, manage, andmonitor the Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA). HP StorageWorks Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU) is acommand line interface that also allows you to configure and control EVA arrays. Use the graphicaluser interface for simple or initial configuration tasks. Use SSSU to script and run repetitious andcomplex configuration tasks. Before you begin, you must have installed HP Command View EVA on at least one of the followingmanagement server types: HP OpenView Storage Management Appliance (SMA)General-purpose serverDedicated management serverHP ProLiant Storage ServerEach installation of HP Command View EVA software on a management server is called a managementagent. The software enables you to: Initialize the array. Create, modify, and monitor disk groups, virtual disks, logical unit numbers (LUNs), snapshots, and snapclones. Configure and monitor physical subsystem components, such as controllers, physical disks, powersupplies, blowers, and network connections. Configure and view controller logs and events.Configuring browser settingsHP Command View EVA requires certain browser settings to operate properly. This section describes therecommended browser settings for Internet Explorer and Mozilla. Ensure your browser is configured asdescribed in this section to ensure that your view of HP Command View EVA is properly configured.Internet Explorer settingsHP recommends that you configure your management server with the security settings appropriate toyour environment, and browse into the management server from a client machine using Internet Explorersettings appropriate for HP Command View EVA. In Windows environments, you may not be able toachieve the proper Internet Explorer settings on a management server with Microsoft's IE EnhancedSecurity Configuration (IEESC) or other policy-enforced settings installed. If you are browsing from anIEESC-configured management server, you must uninstall IEESC and manually configure Internet Explorerwith the required HP Command View EVA browser settings.Table 2 describes the browser settings for Internet Explorer. The settings are not all-inclusive; only thosesettings that are applicable to HP Command View EVA are listed. If a setting appears in bold, it isparticularly important to configure the setting as described.HP StorageWorks Command View EVA user guide13
