RENAULT CARD: general information (1/3)The RENAULT card is usedfor:12345– locking/unlocking the doors andtailgate (doors, tailgate) and the fuelfiller flap (see the following pages);– switch on the vehicle lighting remotely (refer to the following pages);– starting the engine; refer to the information on “Starting the engine” inSection 2.Battery lifeMake sure that the correct battery typeis being used, and that the battery isin good condition and inserted correctly. Its service life is approximatelytwo years: replace it when the message «KEYCARD BATTERY LOW» appears on the instrument panel (refer toSection 5 «RENAULT card: battery").1 Unlocking the doors and tailgate.2 Locking all doors and tailgate.3 Switch on the courtesy lighting remotely.4 Unlocking/locking the tailgate5 Integrated key.When the battery is flat, you canstill lock/unlock and start your vehicle. Refer to the information on“Locking/unlocking the doors” inSection 1 and “Starting the engine”in Section 2.1.2

RENAULT CARD: general information (2/3)Integrated key 5The integrated key is used to lock orunlock the front left-hand door if theRENAULT card does not work:56– when the RENAULT card battery isdrained, flat battery, etc.– use of devices using the same frequency as the card;– vehicle located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.Access to key 5RENAULT card operatingrangeThis varies according to the surroundings: when handling the RENAULTcard, it is important to make sure thatyou do not lock or unlock the doors byinadvertently pressing the buttons.Press button 6 and pull on key 5 thenrelease the button.Using the keyPlease refer to the information on“Locking and unlocking the openingelements”.Once you have accessed the vehicleusing the integrated key, replace itin its housing in the RENAULT card,then insert the RENAULT card intothe card reader to start the vehicle.Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stoppingthe vehicleNever leave an animal,child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone on your vehicle, even fora short time.They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or locking thedoors.Also, in hot and/or sunny weather,please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUSINJURY.1.3

RENAULT CARD: general information (3/3)Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stoppingthe vehicleNever leave an animal,child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone on your vehicle, even fora short time.Replacement: need for anadditional RENAULT CardIf you lose your RENAULT card orrequire another, you can obtain onefrom an authorised dealer.AdviceAvoid leaving the card in hot, cold orhumid areas.Do not keep the RENAULT card ina place where it could be bent ordamaged accidentally, such as in aback pocket of a garment.1.4If a RENAULT card is replaced, itwill be necessary to take the vehicle and all of its RENAULT cards toan approved Dealer to initialise thesystem.You may use up to four RENAULTcards per vehicle.They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or locking thedoors.Also, in hot and/or sunny weather,please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUSINJURY.

REMOTE CONTROL RENAULT CARD: use2134Unlocking the doors andtailgateLocking the doors andluggage compartmentUnlocking/locking theluggage compartment onlyPress the locking button 2. The hazardwarning lights flash twice to indicatethat the doors have locked. If a dooror the luggage compartment is openor not properly shut, or if a RENAULTcard is still in the reader, the doors andluggage compartment lock then quicklyunlock and the hazard warning lightsdo not flash.Press button 4 to unlock/lock the luggage compartment.If the vehicle has been unlockedbut neither the doors or tailgate areopen, it locks again automaticallyafter two minutes.Press button 1.The hazard warning lights flash onceto indicate that the doors have been unlocked.The card buttons are deactivatedwhen the engine is running.RENAULT card not detectedalarmIf you open a door while the engineis running and the card is not in thereader, the message “Keycard not detected” and a beep will warn you. Thewarning disappears when the card is inserted in the reader again.Distance lighting functionThe interior lights come on for approximately 30 seconds when button 3 ispressed. This can be used, for example, to identify the vehicle from a distance when parked in a car park.Note: pressing button 3 again switchesoff the lighting.The flashing status of the hazardwarning lights informs you of the vehicle status:– one flash indicates that the vehicle is completely unlocked;– two flashes indicate that the vehicle is completely locked.1.5

HANDS-FREE RENAULT CARD: use (1/4)2341UseUnlocking the vehicleOn equipped vehicles, in addition tothe functions of the remote controlRENAULT card, it can be used to lock/unlock without using the RENAULTcard, when it is in access zone 1.With the RENAULT card in zone 1 andthe vehicle locked, press button 3 onhandle 2 on one of the two front doors:the vehicle will unlock.Pressing button 4 also unlocks all thedoors and the tailgate.The hazard warning lights flash onceto indicate that the doors have been unlocked.Do not store the RENAULT cardanywhere it may come into contactwith other electronic equipment(computer, PDA, phone, etc.) as thiscould hinder its operation.1.6NB: the vehicle cannot be locked againfor three seconds after unlocking afterpressing button 3.After unlocking the vehicle usingthe RENAULT card, the “handsfree” locking and unlocking is deactivated.To reactivate the hands-free mode:restart the vehicle.

HANDS-FREE RENAULT CARD: use (2/4)Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stoppingthe vehicle3Locking the vehicleThere are three ways to lock the vehicle: remotely, using button 3, or usingthe RENAULT card.Remote lockingWith the RENAULT card on you, anddoors and tailgate closed, move awayfrom the vehicle: it will lock automatically once you have left zone 1.Note: the distance at which the vehiclelocks depends on the surroundings.1The hazard warning lights flash twiceand a beep sounds to indicate that thedoors have locked.The beep may be switched off. Pleasecontact an authorised dealer.If an opening element (door or boot) isopen or not properly closed, or a card isin the passenger compartment (or thecard reader), the vehicle will not lock. Inthis situation, no beep sounds and thehazard warning lights do not flash.Never leave an animal,child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone on your vehicle, even fora short time.They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or locking thedoors.Also, in hot and/or sunny weather,please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUSINJURY.1.7

HANDS-FREE RENAULT CARD: use (3/4)53Locking using button 3Locking using the RENAULT cardWith the doors and boot closed, pressbutton 3 on one of the front door handles. The vehicle will lock.With the doors and luggage compartment closed, press button 5: the vehicle will lock.Note: a RENAULT card must be withinthe vehicle's access zone (zone 1) tobe able to lock the vehicle using thebutton.The hazard warning lights flash twiceto indicate that the doors have locked.NB: the vehicle cannot be locked againfor three seconds after unlocking afterpressing button 3.Note: the maximum distance at whichthe vehicle locks depends on the surroundings.After locking/unlocking the vehicleusing the buttons on the RENAULTcard, “hands-free” locking and unlocking is deactivated.To reactivate the “hands-free” mode:restart the vehicle.1.8

HANDS-FREE RENAULT CARD: use (4/4)“Hands-free” RENAULT card nondetection alarmWith the engine running, if you openand close a door and the card is nolonger within range 6, the message“Keycard not detected” and a beepwarns you of this.6The warning disappears when the cardis again within range 6.Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stoppingthe vehicleNever leave an animal,child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone on your vehicle, even fora short time.Special featuresThe vehicle will not lock if:– a door or the tailgate is open or notproperly closed;– a card is still in zone 6 (or in the cardreader) and no other card is in theexternal detection zone.They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or locking thedoors.Also, in hot and/or sunny weather,please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUSINJURY.1.9

RENAULT CARD: deadlocking1 23If the vehicle is equipped with a deadlocking function, this allows you to lockthe opening elements and to preventthe doors from being unlocked usingthe interior handles (for example, bybreaking the window and then trying toopen the door from the inside).Never use deadlocking ifsomeone is still inside thevehicle.1.10Vehicle with RENAULT cardPress button 2 twice in quick succession.Vehicle with RENAULT “hands-free”cardWith the vehicle unlocked, you canalso press the button 3 on the driver’sor passenger’s side door twice in quicksuccession.In both cases, locking is indicated bythe hazard warning lights flashing fivetimes.After activating the deadlockingfunction using button 2, “handsfree” locking and unlocking are deactivated.To reactivate the “hands-free” mode:restart the vehicle.

OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOORS (1/2)Card reminder buzzer14On opening the driver’s door, if thecard is still in the reader, the message“PLEASE REMOVE KEYCARD” is displayed on the instrument panel accompanied by a warning beep.Door/tailgate open buzzerIf an opening (door or boot) is leftopen or closed badly, once the vehicle reaches around 12 mph (20 km/h),2either the message “Boot open2” or2Opening the doors from theoutsideOpening from the inside” (depending on which“Door openopening) is displayed on the instrumentpanel together with a beep.Pull handle 4.With the doors unlocked, pull handle 1.Special feature of the RENAULT“hands-free” cardWith the doors locked, press button 2on handle 1 of one of the two frontdoors and pull towards you.Lights-on reminder buzzerIf you have switched off the ignitionand left the lights switched on, a reminder buzzer will sound when a dooris opened.As a safety precaution,the doors should only beopened or closed when thevehicle is stationary.1.11

LOCKING/UNLOCKING THE DOORS (1/2)Locking/Unlocking the doorsfrom the outsideThis is done using the RENAULT Card;see the “RENAULT Card” information inSection 1.In certain cases, the RENAULT cardmay not work:21– if the RENAULT card battery is weak,flat, etc.– if equipment operating on the samefrequency as the card (mobilephones, etc.) is used;– vehicle located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.It is then possible:– to use the key integrated into thecard to unlock the front left-handdoor;– to lock each of the doors manually;– to use the interior door locking/unlocking control (refer to the followingpages).Using the key integrated inthe RENAULT cardInsert key 1 into the lock in the driver’sdoor and lock or unlock.Locking the doors manuallyTurn screw 2 with the door open (usingthe end of the key) and close the door.This means that the doors are thenlocked from the outside.The doors may then only be openedfrom the inside or by using the key inthe front left-hand door.1.13

LOCKING/UNLOCKING THE DOORS (2/2)3Interior locking/unlockingdoor controlLocking the doors withoutthe RENAULT cardDoor and tailgate statusindicatorFor example, in the event of a discharged battery or the RENAULT cardtemporarily not working, etc.With the ignition on, the warning lightintegrated in switch 3 informs you of thelocking status of the opening elements:With the engine switched off andan opening element (door or boot)open, press and hold switch 3 for morethan five seconds.– indicator light on, the doors and tailgate are locked,When the door is closed, all the doorsand the tailgate will be locked.When you lock the doors, the indicatorlight remains lit and then goes out.Unlocking the vehicle from the outsideis only possible with the RENAULT cardin the vehicle's access zone or usingthe key integrated in the RENAULTcard.Switch 3 controls the doors, boot and,depending on the vehicle, the fuel fillerflap simultaneously.Never leave your vehiclewith the RENAULT cardinside.If a door or the tailgate is open or notclosed properly, the doors and tailgatelock/unlock quickly.If you need to transport objects with theboot open, the other opening elementscan still be locked: with the enginestopped, press switch 3 for more thanfive seconds to lock the other openingelements.1.14– indicator light off, the doors and tailgate are unlocked.Af
