Convertible TopConvertible TopOPENING THE CONVERTIBLETOPCaution:JAG0162LThe power-operated convertible top andrear quarter windows, see page 85, arecontrolled by the switch located on theoverhead console. The top latches andunlatches automatically. The convertibletop may be operated at speeds below 15mph (24 km/h), however, for safety itshould not be opened or closed when thevehicle is being driven.xCheck that there is nothing in therear area which could interfere withthe top when folded down,especially considering the heatedrear window, e.g. ensure that thebattery cover trim is fitted andsecure.xDo not attempt to operate theconvertible top at temperaturesbelow –15 C (5 F). This may causedamage to the fabric.Caution: If the convertible top isoperated above15 mph (24km/h) toexcessive speeds there is a risk ofdamage to the convertible top.!xBefore opening the convertible top,ensure that the luggage separatoris correctly located in the deployedposition in the luggagecompartment, see page 157.The convertible top may be opened orclosed at speeds below 15 mph(24 km/h). If this speed is exceeded whenopening, the top will continue to move toits open position. If this speed isexceeded when closing, top movementwill continue to operate to the closedposition.For the mechanism to function the ignitionsystem must be ON, see page 47.xxWARNING:Before opening or closing theconvertible top, ensure that alloccupants have moved their hands,fingers, hair, etc. from theconvertible top linkage area,tonneau closing panel, windscreenframe, door windows and rearquarter windows.1. Ensure that the ignition system is inthe ON condition, see page 47.2. Ensure that the luggage separator inthe luggage compartment is in thefully deployed position. If it is notpositioned correctly the proximityswitches will not operate and theconvertible top will not open, seepage 157.Do not place items on the tonneaupanel or over the Roll-overProtection Device covers.153

Convertible Top3. Press and hold the rear of theoverhead console switch. (Do notrelease the switch until the top is fullyopen.)Note: If at any period during theconvertible top opening sequence theswitch is released, all movement of theconvertible top will cease.Caution: Do not at any time during theopening or closing of the convertibletop press the engine Start/Stop buttonas all movement will cease and theconvertible top will have to be manuallyre-set.JAG0239G4. The rear quarter windows open,an audible warning sounds, and thetop unlatches and starts to move, thetonneau closing panel opens. (Thefront windows will fully open. The doorwindow switch will require to bepressed to close the window.)JAG0240G5. When the top is fully open, the audiblewarning sounds again. The tonneauclosing panel is fully automated andencloses the convertible top in thestowed position.JAG0241G6. Release the overhead console switch.Caution: Do not attempt to OPEN theconvertible top manually, as damage tothe linkage mechanism may occur.154

Convertible TopConvertible top manual re-set!WARNING:It is advisable that two persons carryout this procedure so that theconvertible top and tonneau cover arefully supported when required;although it is possible that thisprocedure may be carried out by oneperson with care.JAG0247GFrom inside the luggage compartment,remove the vent screen to access theconvertible top operating pump.To manually re-set the convertible top:Ensure that the engine is not running andthat the ignition system is OFF.JAG0248GInsert the Allen key into the pump androtate anti-clockwise (approximately oneturn).JAG0246GRemove the Allen key from its stowedposition, behind the rear seat centresection, by grasping the sides of thesection, as shown, and pulling sharply.155

Pull the convertible top rearwards anddownwards (D) so that it is fully stowed.Rest the tonneau cover in the closedposition (E).ABIf the movement ceases in either positions(2) or (3), lift the tonneau cover fullyupright and support (C), pull the front ofthe convertible top rearwards anddownwards so that it is fully stowed (D).JAG0421GIf the movement ceases in position (1),release the tension in the convertible topcover and tension bow (rear of convertibletop) by lifting the front of the convertibletop and pulling rearwards (A).Rest the tonneau cover in the closedposition (E).All positions: Turn the Allen keyclockwise (approximately one turn) andreturn it to its stowed position, refit therear seat centre section, luggagecompartment vent screen and close theluggage compartment lid.Lift the tension bow upwards (B), andforwards to clear the tonneau cover).Switch ON the ignition system and startthe engine. Press and hold the front of theconvertible top switch until theconvertible top is closed and fully latched.If the convertible top requires to be open,press and hold the rear of the switch.156

Convertible TopPreparation for WinterBefore the onset of Winter, it is advisableto coat the convertible top seals andrespective body seals with a silicon sprayto aid operation in freezing conditions.To deploy the luggage separatorCaution: Do not place large objectsunderneath the luggage separatorpartition when deployed as damage tothe convertible top may occur.This action will need to be repeated at thestart of each Winter to maintainprotection.Care must be taken for the silicon spraynot to come into contact with theconvertible top material. Forrecommended silicon spray and furtheradvise contact your Jaguar Dealer.Luggage separator1Caution: Luggage items should not beplaced forward or on top of the luggageseparator as it could cause damage tothe separator.JAG0243GPull the handle on the luggage separatortowards you. There is a lug on either sideof the luggage separator: slide the lugsinto the sliders on either side of theluggage compartment. The luggageseparator will positively locate in thevertical position. A proximity switch, (1), islocated in the separator assembly so thatthe convertible top will not open andretract until the separator is in the fullydeployed position.JAG0242GWhen selected, if the convertible top doesnot open, the positioning of the luggageseparator should be checked.A luggage separator is located in theluggage compartment to prevent itemsfrom moving into the area in which theconvertible top is to be stowed whenopened.When the convertible top is closed, thenormal position for the luggage separatoris in the retracted position with thepartition positioned vertically.157

Convertible TopTo remove the luggage separatorTo install the luggage separator2112334JAG0244GJAG0245GWith the luggage separator in thenormally stowed position, pull the handletowards you, (1) and disengage the lugsfrom the sliders (2).With the partition slightly extracted,position the luggage separator up to thesupport brackets with the front edgeraised. Ensuring, that for both sides, thecatch (1) will engage in the locating slot(2). Rotate the main body of the luggageseparator (3) so that it sits down into thesupport brackets. Fit the partition lugsinto the sliders (4) and retract the luggageseparator partition into the normalstowage position.Holding the centre of the main body of theluggage separator, rotate upwards (3),disengaging the main body of the luggageseparator from the support brackets.Remove the luggage separator andretract the withdrawn partition section ofthe luggage separator into the main body.158

Convertible TopCLOSING THE CONVERTIBLETOPManual closure of the convertible topIf necessary, the convertible top can beclosed manually, as follows:1. Ensure that the ignition system is inthe ON condition, see page 47.2. Press and hold the front of theoverhead console switch, see page153. (Do not release the switch untilthe convertible top is fully closed andlatched, and if required the rearquarter windows and front doorwindows are fully closed.)3. If the front windows are in any otherposition than fully down, they willretract to the fully down position onpressing the closure switch. As theconvertible top starts to move theaudible warning will sound.4. When the top is fully closed andlatched, the audible warning soundsagain and the rear quarter windowswill close followed by the front doorwindows returning to the fully closedposition.JAG0246GNote: If at any period during theconvertible top closure sequence theswitch is released, all movement of theconvertible top will cease.Remove the Allen key from its stowedposition, behind the rear seat centresection, by grasping the sides of thesection, as shown, and sharply pull.JAG0247GFrom inside the luggage compartment,remove the vent screen to access theconvertible top operating pump.159

Convertible TopJAG0248GJAG0251GInsert the Allen key into the pump androtate anti-clockwise (approximately oneturn).From the left-hand side of the vehicle,place your right hand down the side of thefolded convertible top. Ensure that thebottom of the convertible top, whichincludes the tension bow, is securelyheld. Securely hold the convertible topheader assembly with your left hand. Withboth hands pull the whole of theconvertible top up and forward.JAG0249GPull the tonneau release cable, until fullyextended. Close the luggagecompartment lid.JAG0252GEnsure that the tension bow is fully raised.JAG0250GFully open the tonneau panel. It willself-support when fully opened.160
