Business Services Registering as a Notary Public in Missouri 3Step 2At the top, under businessservices, scroll over and from thedropdown menu, select the thirdoption in the menu titled,‘Notaries & Commissions.’Step 3Click on “Register.”If you are already registered, click“Log in.”

It can be downloadedor viewed online.This process can be abandonedand resumed at any timeWhen ready, click “Go to Step 3”.

All answerscan be found in the NotaryHandbook. In order to pass youcan only have 5 or less incorrectanswers. You are only allowed to haveone training course “inprogress” at a time. Your “in progress” trainingcourse will remain available forup to 90 days from the datethat you start.Step 9Complete the training course.

A Non-Resident Applicant issomeone who does not live inMissouri and wishes to performnotarial acts in the Missouricounty in which they work.Click “Resident Applicant” or“Non-Resident Applicant”.Step 13Complete the Application. Theinformation sections for Residentand Non-Resident are slightlydifferent.NOTE: Double check yourinformation for accuracy beforeproceeding to the next step.When complete, click the blue“Next” button.

Step 14A will cover in detail theResident Application qualifyingquestions. Step 14B will cover in detail theNon-Resident Applicationqualifying questionsIf the applicant completed theonline training course from Step8, the certificate number will beautomatically loaded in this step.Once the questions are answered,click “Next”.Step 14A: Resident Applicant Qualifying QuestionsApplicants will be required to submit additional details depending on the answers to certain questions. Submission ofadditional documentation will be covered in Step 15. Those questions are highlighted below:Have you been refused a commission as a notary public or had a commission revoked?If yes, applicant must attach a separate letter indicating the reason and date for the refusal or revocation.Have you ever been convicted of or pled guilty or nolo contendere to any felony – including SES and SIS?If yes, applicant must attach a list and supporting documentation of such convictions or pleas of guilt or nolocontendere.Have you ever been convicted of or pled guilty or nolo contendere to any misdemeanor incompatible with the dutiesof a notary public – including SES and SIS?If yes, you must attach a list and supporting documentation of such convictions or pleas of guilt or nolo contendere.Have you completed a state-approved notary training?If the applicant completed Missouri’s online notary training detailed in Steps 8–10, that training course will beautomatically attached to your application in Step 14. If something other than the online training detailed in Steps 8–10, the applicant must attach proof of the completion of the training (certificate number of copy of certificate)

Submission ofadditional documentation will be covered in Step 15. Business Services Registering as a Notary Public in Missouri 11Step 16The applicant’s full name will bedisplayed under “Your FullName”.Read the statement and click theempty box to place a check.By checking the box, the applicantagrees to the terms outlined inthe statement and is signing theapplication.Once the box is checked, click“Proceed to Payment”.Step 17If the employer will be makingthe online payment, select “UseEmployer Information”.If the individual applicant will bemaking the online payment,select “Use Your Information”.Information will automaticallypopulate based on the selection.Once the information incomplete, Click “Pay Now”.

Business Services Registering as a Notary Public in Missouri 12Step 18Select a payment method.There will be a convenience feeassessed if using a credit/debitcard or eCheckCredit/Debit card will be anadditional 1.25.eCheck will be and additional 0.50.Click “Check Out” to proceed.Step 19Ensure the correct billinginformation is populated into thefields.Once confirmed, click “Continue”.
