THE GOLDEN AGE OF CINEMAHHLT’s wonderful October meetingexamined the early days of cinema andwas topped off by a visit to the home ofone of our own neighbors Louisa andRussell Williams. There we were privilegedto see the magnificent collection oforiginal, autographed photos of early starsof silent screen. Collected in the heyday ofsilent pictures, Louisa’s grandmother whowas a Shakespearen stage actress wrotefan letters to stars and often receivedpersonally autographed photos in return.Louisa’s grandmother is seen in thecollection of photos on the right. We areso grateful to Louisa and her husbandRussell for generously opening their hometo us.
