She gave a wide-ranging overview of the many other issues on thehorizon that could significantly affect everything from the future of Floridainfrastructure funding to how best to use reuse our precious waterresources. She summarized the 2017 Florida Legislative session, and acomprehensive preview of what’s expected for the 2018 Legislative sessionwith regards to water policy matters. She provided valuable insight ofFlorida’s changing political landscape with respect to both environmentaland water policy issues.

The WFP Committee did a great job of reaching out to oursponsors to ensure tickets were utilized this year, and it helpedtremendously with turnout. Event tickets were 25, in advance, andincluded live music from Sisemore, dinner from Sarge’s BBQ Food Truck,and two craft beers from the brewery. REGION IV CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENTThe Region IV Golf Committee hosted the twelfth annual charity golf tournament at Lake JovitaGolf & Country Club on Friday, October 6, 2017, the North Course. This year a record field of 31teams participated and enjoyed the fun, sun, and socializing to benefit Water for People andthe Roy Likins Scholarship funds. Participation in thisyear’s event helped raise over 10,000 for our charitiesand a BIG thank you to all.The tournament format for this year’s event includedindividual skill prizes for men’s and women’s longdrives, Par 3 closest to the pin, a putting contest, and acorn hole contest. Additionally, all Par 3’s had anadditional hole-in-one prize; with a grand prize for onehole at 10,000 but unfortunately we did not have anyhole-in-one winners this year.The team competition for this year’s event included 3 flights. Teams were randomly selectedinto each flight and the tournament team competition was a 4 person scramble format. 4th Annual Sponsor Appreciation & Networking Event(Thursday, November 9, 2017)The night kicked off at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel with good foodand “speakeasy” live music (“Midnight Lucy Trio” band sponsored by A.C.Schultes of Florida, Inc.), followed by five presentations from local utilityowners about their upcoming capital improvement projects.Michael Carballa, PE, Utilities Engineering Director of Pasco County discussedthe counties current wastewater utility system including some of the projectsthey have recently completed such as the 4G Wetland project, and biosolidsproject. Mr. Carballa also mentioned the County is renewing focus on R&R,investing in plant expansions including transmission and revamping theirGeodatabase.Lynn Spivey, PE Director or Utilities of Plant City gave an overview of PlantCity’s Water Reclamation Facility and how the city has completed numerousutility extension projects. The city is working on a new water master plan, liftstation and force main master plan, wastewater master plan and a masterplan for their water reclamation facility.Maribel Medina, PE from Tampa Bay Water presented their 5- year CIP andgave an overview of their current projects, such as the Starkey WellfieldImprovements project that is scheduled to advertise as a Design-Build projectin the Summer of 2018.Janice “Nan” Bennett, PE, Public Works Director from the City of Oldsmarpresented the changes underway within the City of Oldsmar, including someof their recent award-winning projects such as their Reverse Osmosis WaterTreatment Plant. Some of the upcoming CIP projects for Public Worksincludes Aeration Upgrades, City Lift Station Rehabilitation, Booster StationVFD & Processor Replacement, and Filtration Capacity Expansion.Richard Kirby, PE, Engineering Division Manager of Hernando County showed us some the Countiesupcoming projects including force main and water main R&R projects. Richard also conversed abouttheir Nitrogen Reduction Goals.Thanks to the planning committee Doug Calderone (George F.
