RENAULT CARDS: general information (1/2)12The RENAULT card is usedfor:34512345Unlocking the doors and tailgate.Locking all doors and tailgate.Switching on the lighting remotely.Unlocking/locking the tailgateIntegrated key.1.2– locking/unlocking the doors and tailgate, the glove box and the fuel fillerflap (refer to the following pages);– switching on the vehicle lighting remotely (refer to the following pages);– depending on the vehicle, automatically closing the electric windowsremotely (see the information on“Electric windows” in Section 3);– starting the engine; refer to the information on “Starting the engine” inSection 2.Battery lifeMake sure that the correct battery typeis being used, and that the battery is ingood condition and inserted correctly.Its service life is approximately twoyears: replace it when the message“Keycard battery low” appears on theinstrument panel (refer to the information on the “RENAULT card: battery” insection 5).RENAULT card operatingrangeThis varies according to the surroundings. It is important to make sure whenhandling the RENAULT card that youdo not lock or unlock the doors by inadvertently pressing the buttons.When the battery is flat, you canstill lock/unlock and start your vehicle. Refer to the information on“Locking/unlocking the doors” inSection 1 and “Starting the engine”in Section 2.Driver’s responsibilityNever leave your vehiclewith the RENAULT cardinside and never leave achild (or a pet) unsupervised, evenfor a short while.They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or by locking thedoors.Risk of serious injury.

RENAULT CARDS: general information (2/2)Access to key 5Press button 6 and pull on key 5 thenrelease the button.56Using the keyPlease refer to the information under“Locking and unlocking the opening elements”.Once you have accessed the vehicleusing the integrated key, replace itin its housing in the RENAULT card,then insert the RENAULT card intothe card reader to start the vehicle.Replacement: need for anadditional RENAULT CardIf you lose your RENAULT card orrequire another, you can obtain onefrom an approved dealer.If a RENAULT card is replaced, itwill be necessary to take the vehicle and all of its RENAULT cardsto an approved dealer to initialisethe system.You may use up to four RENAULTcards per vehicle.Integrated key 5The integrated key is used to lock orunlock the front left-hand door if theRENAULT card does not work:– when the RENAULT card battery isdrained, flat battery, etc.– use of devices using the same frequency as the card;– vehicle located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.AdviceAvoid leaving the card in hot, cold orhumid areas.Do not keep the RENAULT card ina place where it could be bent ordamaged accidentally, such as in aback pocket of a garment.1.3

REMOTE CONTROL RENAULT CARD: use2134Unlocking the doors andtailgatePress button 1.The hazard warning lights flash onceto indicate that the doors have been unlocked.When unlocking is only active for thedriver’s door, (refer to the informationon the “vehicle settings customisationmenu” in Section 1):– pressing button 1 unlocks only thedriver’s door and the fuel filler flap;– pressing button 1 twice unlocks allthe doors and the tailgate.1.4Locking the doors andluggage compartmentUnlocking/locking theluggage compartment onlyPress locking button 2. The hazardwarning lights flash twice to indicatethat the doors have locked. If a dooror the luggage compartment is openor not properly shut, or if a RENAULTcard is still in the reader, the doors andluggage compartment lock then quicklyunlock and the hazard warning lightsdo not flash.Press button 4 to unlock/lock the luggage compartment.If the vehicle has been unlockedbut neither the doors or tailgate areopen, it locks again automaticallyafter two minutes.The card buttons are deactivatedwhen the engine is running.The flashing status of the hazardwarning lights informs you of the vehicle status:– one flash indicates that the vehicle is completely unlocked;– two flashes indicate that the vehicle is completely locked.RENAULT card not detectedalarmIf you open a door with the engine running and the card is not in the reader,the message “Keycard not detected”and a beep warn you. The warning disappears when the card is inserted inthe reader again.Distance lighting functionThe dipped beam headlights, indicatorlights and interior lights come on for approximately 30 seconds when button 3is pressed. This can be used, for example, to identify the vehicle from a distance when parked in a car park.Note: pressing button 3 again switchesoff the lighting.Locking the vehicle also locks theglove box.

HANDS-FREE RENAULT CARD: use (1/3)4231UseOn equipped vehicles, in addition tothe functions of the above-mentionedremote control RENAULT card, it canbe used to lock/unlock without usingthe RENAULT card, when it is in accesszone 1.RecommendationsDo not store the RENAULT cardanywhere it may come into contact with other electronic equipment(computer, PDA, phone, etc.) as thiscould hinder its operation.Unlocking the vehicleWith the RENAULT card in the zone 1,press the button 3 or, depending on thevehicle, place your hand behind thehandle 2: the vehicle will unlock.In some cases (leaving the vehicleparked for several days, for example),you may need to pull handle 2 twice tounlock the vehicle and open the door.Pressing the button 4 also unlocks allthe doors and the tailgate.The hazard warning lights flash onceto indicate that the doors have been unlocked.After unlocking the vehicle or theboot only using the buttons of theRENAULT card, remote locking andunlocking in hands-free mode aredeactivated.To reactivate the hands-free mode:restart the vehicle.1.5

HANDS-FREE RENAULT CARD: use (2/3)231Locking the vehicleThere are three ways to lock the vehicle: remotely, using the button 3, orusing the RENAULT card.These three modes also allow the vehicle to be locked with the roof open.Remote lockingWith the RENAULT card on you, anddoors and tailgate closed, move awayfrom the vehicle: it will lock automatically once you have left zone 1.The hazard warning lights flash twiceand a beep sounds to indicate that thedoors have locked.The beep may be switched off. Pleaseconsult an authorised dealer.If a door or the tailgate is open or notproperly closed, or a card is in thepassenger compartment (or the cardreader) the vehicle will not lock. In thissituation, no beep sounds and thehazard warning lights do not flash.Note: The distance at which the vehiclelocks depends on the surroundings.Locking the vehicle also locks theglove box.1.6Locking using the button 3With the doors and boot closed, pressthe button 3 on the driver’s door. Thevehicle will lock. If a door or the boot isopen or not closed properly, the vehiclewill quickly lock/unlock.Note: The RENAULT card must bewithin the vehicle’s detection zone 1 tobe able to use the button for locking.Special note: If you wish to check thatthe doors are locked after locking usingthe button 3, you have approximatelythree seconds to try the door handleswithout unlocking them. After this delay,the hands-free mode is activated onceagain and any movement of a handlewill unlock the vehicle.

HANDS-FREE RENAULT CARD: use (3/3)56With the engine running, if havingonce opened and closed a door, thecard is no longer in the passenger compartment, the message “Keycard notdetected” (accompanied by a warningbeep once the speed passes a threshold value) will tell you that the card is nolonger in the vehicle. This avoids youdriving away after having dropped off apassenger who has the card, for example.The warning disappears when the cardis detected again.Locking using the RENAULT cardSpecial note:With the doors and luggage compartment closed, press button 5: the vehicle will lock.The vehicle will not lock if:The hazard warning lights flash twiceto indicate that the doors have locked.– a card is still in zone 6 (or in the cardreader) and no other card is in theexternal detection zone.Note: the maximum distance at whichthe vehicle locks depends on the surroundings.– a door or the tailgate is open or notproperly closed;After locking/unlocking the vehicleor the luggage compartment onlyusing the buttons on the RENAULTcard, remote locking and unlockingin hands-free mode are deactivated.To reactivate the “hands-free” mode:restart the vehicle.1.7

RENAULT CARD: deadlockingTo deactivate deadlockingUnlock the vehicle using button 1 onthe RENAULT card.1 23If the vehicle is equipped with a deadlocking function, this allows you to lockthe opening elements and to preventthe doors from being unlocked usingthe interior handles (for example, bybreaking the window and then trying toopen the door from the inside).To activate deadlockingYou can choose between two deadlocking activation modes:– press button 2 twice in quick succession;– or, press the button on the driver’sdoor handle 3 twice in quick succession.The hazard warning lights flash fivetimes to indicate locking.Never use deadlocking ifsomeone is still inside thevehicle.1.8The hazard warning lights flash once toindicate that the doors have been unlocked.After activating the deadlockingfunction using button 2, remotelocking and unlocking in hands-freemode are deactivated.To reactivate the “hands-free” mode:restart the vehicle.

OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOORS (1/3)312Opening the doors from theoutsideRENAULT cardWith the doors unlocked, hold handle 1and pull it towards you.Hands-free RENAULT cardWith the RENAULT card in the detection zone, press the button 2 or, depending on the vehicle, place yourhandle behind the handle, then grip thehandle 1 and pull it towards you.In some cases, it may be necessary topull the handle twice to open the door.Opening from the insidePull the handle 3.Every time one of the doors isopened, the window lowers by a fewmillimetres to facilitate door movement. The window closes as soonas the door is closed.If there is any ice or snow preventing the window from lowering whenone of the doors is opened, this iceor snow must be removed to free thewindow before the door is closed.If you need to disconnect the battery (breakdown etc.), lower the windows to make handling the doorseasier whilst the battery is disconnected.1.9

OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOORS (2/3)Lights-on reminder buzzerIf you have switched off the ignitionand left the lights switched on, a reminder buzzer will sound when a dooris opened.Card reminder buzzerOn opening the driver’s door, if thecard is still in the reader, the message“Please remove keycard” is displayedon the instrument panel accompaniedby a warning beep.Door/tailgate open buzzerIf an opening element (door or boot) isopen or not properly closed, as soonas the vehicle reaches a speed of approximately 6 mph (10 km/h), the message “Boot open” or “Door open” (depending on which is open) will appearon the instrument panel accompaniedby a warning light.Special noteOnce the engine has been switched off,the lights and accessories (radio, etc.)will continue to operate until the driver’sdoor is opened.1.10As a safety precaution,the doors should only beopened or closed when thevehicle is stationary.

OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOORS (3/3)45In the event of an operating fault onthe electric windows when movingthe doorsThe window does not lower when thedoor is opened and does not closewhen the door is closed. In this case,insert the card in the reader and pull thebutton for the electric window in question at least six times in succession toraise the window fully.Consult an approved dealer.1To close the door, proceed as describedin the section entitled “In the event of abattery fault”.Operating faultsIn the event of a battery faultVehicle unlocked (refer to the information on “Locking and unlocking thedoors” in Section 1):– to open the door: pull the handle 1then gently open the door to avoiddamaging the seal 4;– to close the door: push the top ofthe window (zone 5) whilst holdingthe door using the handle 1 to enableit to pass under the seal 4, then closethe door taking care not to slam it.Door locking is accompanied by the windows closing.Risk of serious injury.Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stoppingthe vehicleNever leave an animal,child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone on your vehicle, even fora short time.They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or locking thedoors.Also, in hot and/or sunny weather,please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUSINJURY.Do not close the door byholding the window. Makesure you do not place yourfingers too high up in the 5zone to avoid injury.1.11

LOCKING/UNLOCKING THE DOORS (1/2)Locking/unlocking the doorsfrom the outsideThis is done using the RENAULT Card;see the “RENAULT Card” information inSection 1.3AIn certain cases, the RENAULT cardmay not work:– when the RENAULT card battery isdrained, flat battery, etc.– use of appliances operating on thesame frequency as the card (mobilephone, etc.);– vehicle located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.It is then possible:– to use the key integrated into thecard to unlock the front left-handdoor;– to lock using the key integrated in theRENAULT card;– to use the interior doo
