Growing importance of a securepower supplyHigh performance levelIn change-over applications where the loaded switch mayneed to be operated remotely, adequate durability has beenensured by testing against the IEC 60947-6-1 standard in thespecification of endurance requirements.Utilization categories:– AC-31 for non-inductive or slightly inductive load– AC-33 for motor loads or mixed loads including motors ABB change-over switches are rated according to IEC60947-6-1 standardEasy installation for local or remote controlABB change-over switches are very easy to install: themanually operated switch is operated via a handle fixeddirectly on the switch or on the panel door. The 16 to 125Ampere sizes can be snapped on to a DIN rail and the frontfits in the 45 mm consumer unit cut-out.The motorized change-over switches have snap-on controlwire connections. Auxiliary contacts can be snapped on tothe sides of the switches and the power terminals can beconnected in parallel with bridging bars.The automatic transfer switches feature the automatic controlunit, which can be adjusted according to the mounting depthof the panel. The voltage sensing kit is installed at the factorythus reducing the expensive and time consuming installationwork. As industrial processes and IT applications diversify, a securepower supply is increasingly important to cut production andmaintenance costs. In emergency situations, the system logicof power distribution can become complex with mechanicaldevices looking after making, breaking, conducting and isolatingpower. Loads need to be transferred from one supply to another— this will be the case when energy use is restricted or whenthe supply source is overloaded.Safe and reliableABB automatic transfer switches ensure service continuitywith a number of built-in, integrated safety features. Thechange-over mechanism, for example, offers three stablepositions which ensure isolation of the two asynchronouspower supplies.
