DreamsCOME TRUE

Ia OranaWELCOMEVivid turquoise lagoons, soaring lava-rock peaks, lush tropical plants, beautiful, hospitable people. These natural wonders fill the senses ofall those that set foot on our islands. But we believe our guests shouldfeel the spirit of Tahiti from the moment they step onboard. And so,to coincide with our 20th year of operations, we proudly unveil TheTahitian Dreamliner. This technological marvel detailed with the story, heart and soul of Tahiti will captivate our guests and deliver what webelieve to be the ultimate travel experience.0102

OUR INSPIRATION:ManaEvery culture centers around an unmistakable spirit. For the peopleof Tahiti, this is Mana. It is a force that flows through all living things, places and objects. It inspires us to be protective of our islands, but also to share themgenerously with the world. It connects us toward common goals, but also drives us to make our individual mark. It moves us to boldlychase a better future, while respecting the teachings of our past.It is the luster of the black pearl, the unique recipe of a family’smonoi, the iridescent shimmer of the rainbow fish, the melody froma ukulele rolling gently through palm leaves, the ocean surges thatrenew the lagoons, the ray, the peak, the reef, a Mama’s smile. So, when designing The Tahitian Dreamliner, we were not onlyinspired by Mana, we wished to express it so clearly, our guestswould feel it, understand it and take it with them back to their home.0304

20 YEARS OF AMBASSADORSHIPAs you will see in the design details of The Tahitian Dreamliner,we at Air Tahiti Nui believe each of us serves as an ambassadorof our homeland.Nui09The Nui in our name literally means “Big” as in the big carrier toThe Islands of Tahiti, but Tahitians know Nui can also mean “Grand”and “Great” which captures aspects of our adventurous spirit, ourdesire to connect with the healing power of nature, and the love andpride we have for our culture. As we chart our course of the next 20 years, the idea of Nui will bea shining star that guides us forward. We will challenge ourselves toexamine every part of the travel experience we provide our guests tofind ways to make it more relaxing, more immersive, and more “Nui.”And the clearest example of this yet: the 3 year journey, from idea topurchase to design of 4 Boeing 787-9s our new fleet of what we callThe Tahitian Dreamliner.10

INTRODUCING THETahitian DreamlinerOur Dreamliner fleet begins a new chapter in our proud historyof connecting Tahiti to the world. We’ve selected what webelieve to be the best aircraft flying the skies, the Boeing 787-9,and we’ve made it uniquely Tahitian. Come fly with us and beamong the first to be carried to your dream destination on thewings of our Dreamliner.1112

Our new liveryTHE TIAREFrom the very beginning, a white tiare, a symbol of beautyin Tahiti, has adorned our tails. And while our fleet andlivery design has changed, we have kept the originaltiare unchanged, carrying us into the future while beinga proud reminder of our past. Each guest receives a realtiare flower upon arrival, a living, beautifully fragrantextension of our mark.THE COLOR STORYThree shades of blue draw inspiration from theocean, the lagoon and the skies over Tahiti.THE TATTOOSA collection of tattoos graces the rear portion of our fleetand tells a visual story about Tahiti and its people. The tiare is encircled by ripples on thewater with flocks of birds that representfriendship and helping others. The Albatross represents freedom andthe ability to rise above to gain anelevated perspective.A Tiki and Tiki eye watch over ourflights, providing symbolic protection.A manta ray represents wisdom, protection and elegance, while a whalerepresents strength and abundance.Ocean waves represent our ancestralhome, life and continuity.Fish hooks are a symbol of prosperity, abundance and luck.13THE FLAG AND REGISTRATION NUMBERSOur Tahitian Dreamliner carries two red lines on its sides representing the flag of our home, a symbolof our people and the 118 different Islands of French Polynesia. All international airplanes are assigned a 2 letter registration code designating its country of origin, and3 more letters unique to each plane. We’ve used those 3 letters for meaningful Tahitian words: MUA,(forward), NUI (big), VAA (canoe), TOA (warrior). Woven together our fleet names have a hidden meaning:The warrior (TOA) going forward (MUA) in the great (NUI) canoe (VAA)!MOOREAF-OMUABORA BORAF-ONUIRANGIROAF-OVAANUKA HIVAF-OTOA14

Like Tahiti in the airAperture nowAperture beforeO2H20BREATH CLEAN AIRTAKE IN THE VIEWThe unspoiled beauty of Tahiti may best be expressed insomething visitors can’t see: the clear, fresh air. On TheTahitian Dreamliner, the air goes through an innovativepurification method known as gaseous filtration. Bycleaning the cabin air of gaseous contaminants andoffensive odors, our guests will experience fewer throat, eye and nose irritations. The windows are the largest of any jet – almost 80%percent larger than our previous fleet– and positionedhigher, so every passenger can see out to the horizonfor visual relief and an open cabin feel. Windows can bedimmed electronically at the touch of a button, allowingyou to choose the brightness you prefer.YOUR FORECAST: LOW PRESSURE ANDCOMFORTABLE HUMIDITYIntercontinental travel can take its toll on your bodyand steal time away from the point of your vacation,to relax and refresh. The Tahitian Dreamliner addressestwo common sources of fatigue from travel. While mostairplanes are pressurized to a typical cabin altitude of6,500 to 7,000 feet, a stronger composite fuselagemeans the 787 can be pressurized to 6,000 feet, which studies have demonstrated is significantly morecomfortable. The cabin also delivers a higher humiditylevel than in other airplanes, which has been shown toreduce symptoms of dryness and increase comfortfor passengers. It is this precise tropical humidity that gives to thePolynesian sky its incredible deep blue and spectacularsunsets. To emulate this atmosphere, the Tahitian Dreamlineris equipped with the last generation of LED lightingtechnology that can create an infinite combination ofmood scenes. Our guests will gently wake up with the mauve andpink of Gauguin’s color palette, or dine in the cozyatmosphere of a never ending sunset, a scene that wehave named Tahitian Bliss.1516

More features, less impactHELP PROTECT THE ISLANDSHaving an ancestral history of thriving from the gifts the land and sea providesmakes us protective of the environment. So when it came to select our next fleet, low impact specifications were critical factors in the decision. With fuel efficiencythat’s 20 to 25 percent less than the airplanes it replaces and a full 10 percentbetter than today’s competition, The Tahitian Dreamliner delivers 20-25 percentfewer CO2 emissions as well. The elegant design of the iconic Dreamliner wingfeatures smoother surfaces, a simpler structure and fewer parts, all of whichimprove airflow for better fuel efficiency. Overall, the Dreamliner is manufacturedusing fewer harmful chemicals and with less scrap and waste than other traditionalairplanes. And the materials are recyclable when the airplane is eventually retired.17ESCAPE THE NOISESAIL SMOOTHLYBreaking waves, gently swaying palm leaves, amelodic “Maūru’uru” (thank you). This is the pleasantsoundscape of Tahiti. The Tahitian Dreamlinergenerates a 60 percent smaller sound footprint thanthat of the airplanes it replaces. Advances by GeneralElectric in engines and engine casings reduce noiseand make travel more pleasant for guests, crew andthose that live near airports. As if like a traditional outrigger canoe gliding across acalm lagoon, The Tahitian Dreamliner cuts through the airusing Smoother Ride Technology. Smart sensors detectturbulence as it comes and adjust control surfacesautomatically. The result: up-and-down movement isreduced for a consistently smooth, more comfortableride and an eightfold reduction in motion sickness.18

The American Revolution had both long-term origins and short-term causes. In this section, we will look broadly at some of the long-term political, intellectual, cultural, and economic developments in the eigh-teenth century that set the context for the crisis of the 1760s and 1770s. Between the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and the middle of the eigh- teenth century, Britain had largely failed .
