Study Tour Student Expectations &Responsibilities. We expect all students to represent theuniversity in a professional manner (e.g. dressappropriately and respect fellowstudents/staff and networks) whilst on tourStudents must understand a study tour is anacademic tour and not a “Contiki” or holidayopportunityThe tour itinerary is an intensive 2 weekprogram with daily activities plus homeworkat night for assignmentsAll activities in the study tour itinerary arecompulsory – e.g. non-attendance due to ahangover will not be toleratedIf the UniSA code of conduct is breached by astudent in any way whilst on tour , they will besent home2017 BNU Summer School - China

What will I study?Our Business School Faculty Led study toursare generally based around the sameassignment model:Assignments:1. Reflective Journal2. Individual Report3. Participation at compulsory predeparture workshops and 2 weeks incountryAssignments are due upon your return notgenerally whilst in country.Please note: what will be taught andassessed will be all contextual to the tour onoffer. 2016 Hong Kong, China & TaiwanStudy Tour Criteria Program director approval toundertake the study tour as a4.5unit elective in yourprogram No more than 9.0 failed units (2courses) on your currentprogram Students are ranked for anoffer – generally based on aGPA, study tour application Interviews may be required*students may be in their first study period toapply for a study tour. We will just follow yourprogress throughout the study period up untilthe tour departure.

How to apply?Keep up to date with your student emails andour website for study tour informationSTEP 1:Attend a study tour information session orrequest information regarding the tourSTEP 2:All tours require a 300 word statement of whyyou would like to go on the tour, how this tourwill help build your studies and overall career(no need to academic reference). Please includeyour: student ID, program name/code and thespecific tour location you are applying for. Sendyour application tobusiness.mobility@unisa.edu.au2018 Italy & London

How to apply – cont’dSTEP 3:Once you have applied, the BusinessSchool Mobility team will asses if you areeligible to participate in the tour. Thiswill be based on your statement alongwith the criteria requirementsAn interview may be requiredSTEP 4:Should you meet the requirements theBusiness School Mobility team will sendyou an offer and you will need to pay a 1,000 deposit invoice (non-refundable)to secure your place on the tour2017 South Korea

What we will organise for you.The Business School has two study tourofficers who will administer all logisticsfor the study tour:-Travel grant applications-Enrolment into the course-Flights-Accommodation-In-country transportation to itineraryactivities-All other itinerary activities2017 Hong Kong, China and Taiwan

What you will need to organise.You will need to organise and incur any costs associated with various tour incidentals:Forms: Specific tour related forms (e.g. student acknowledgement letter with programdirector approval)GP Visit: A medical and health form is required to be completed prior to travel andsigned by a GPVaccinations: should the tour location require students to be vaccinated to enter intothe country by the World Health Organisation we strongly suggest that they are up todate with all vaccines.Visa: Tourist visa is sometimes required for tours, you will be advised on this by thestudy tour officerOS HELP Loan: if you fulfil the requirements and want to apply (see further informationlater in this PPT)

Study Tour Costs.We try to keep costs down for students as much as possible but as youcan imagine you are studying a course in an international location whichmeans there are additional costs – here is an example of costs:CostsEstimated AmountFees for one 4.5 unit course in yourprogramThis depends on what program you are in –UG or PG as to the course feesStudy tour fee includes: flights,accommodation, transportation. 2 weekitinerary (cultural and sightseeing), industryand academic visitsThis fee can range between 4,500 to 9,00depending on the tour locationSpending money – meals, personalentertainment, transportation (e.g. taxi’s)Eg. 100 per dayIncidentals – vaccinations, visa etcDepends on country requirements

Funding options.UniSA & OS HELP offers funding options to help support the cost of travel expensesand associated fees (subject to criteria).Each study tour has various funding and it is outlined specifically on our change/study-tours/The travel grant funding is deducted from your study tour fee.OS HELP Loan is another way to borrow money against your accumulative HECSdebt (amounts below are based on 2018): For study in Asia the loan amount is - 7,880 For study elsewhere the loan amount is - 6,665For more information and how to apply - nities/Travel-grants/
