2021 Festival of Music Program89th Annual Grey County Kiwanis Festival of MusicMessage from our Festival ChairWelcome to the 2021 Grey County Kiwanis Festival of Music! It isa great pleasure to provide adjudicated music classes in a virtualformat this year! We are fortunate to have the ability to do thisamid the health and safety restrictions associated with Covid-19.It is important to acknowledge the firm resolve of theFestival Board to create an online Festival. The willingnessand adaptability of students, teachers and other communitymembers are also greatly appreciated for supporting this challenge. Our FestivalCoordinator, Karen Kyle, has worked tirelessly to make all the arrangements neededfor 2021. Special thanks to Linda Hawkins and Karen Schlacht for their assistance withthe registrations and videos.None of this would be possible without our partnerships with the Kiwanis Clubof Owen Sound, the Meaford Kiwanis Club, Tamming Law and Mix 106.5. Manysponsors, advertisers, and stakeholders have shown support for the Festival. TheDorothy Wakeford Memorial Donation allowed reduced registration fees to encourageparticipation. Brass & WoodwindsShawn HillsIan GreenJunior PianoShawn Hills is a graduate of Western University where shecompleted both her Honours Bachelor of Music and Bachelorof Education studying clarinet under Jerome Summers andconducting under Don McKellar, Jerome Summers and DeralJohnson. As a retired music educator with over 30 years’experience, she considers herself extremely fortunate to haveshared music with so many students. Shawn continues to teachprivately, has performed with and conducted the ClaringtonConcert Band and is currently performing with the BowmanvilleNew Horizons Band. She continues to work as a clinician and adjudicator.Ian Green is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music(A.R.C.T. , Piano) and Queen’s University (Bachelor of Music). Mr.Green is a sought-after professional accompanist and musicianspecializing in jazz and classical styles. Ian is an enthusiasticmusic educator, composer and clinician; he owns a thrivingmusic studio; and is a recording artist with Element 80 Records(Vancouver).
