THE TRIPOn the 25th March we left school at halfpast seven to go to Bergamo to see theMusical “Shrek”. We travelled by bus. Ittook 45 minutes to arrive at the theatre.During the trip someone chatted andsomeone listened to music. The musicalstarted at 9 a.m. and finished at about 11 o’clock; after the show we could ask the actorssome questions and we returned to school at 12o’ clock.Main charactersShrek He is a grumpy, smelly,ugly and shy ogre. He is always angrybecause he wants to live alone. Hefalls in love with Fiona.Donkey He is a nice and generoustalking donkey. He wants to live withShrek at all costs.Classe 2 A

Fiona She is a very beautiful Princess but she has a secret: during the night shebecomes an ugly ogressLord Farquaad He is a nastymen. He is comically short, ruthlessruler of the huge land of Duloc. Heis also very ambitious, he wants tomarry Fiona in order to becomeKing of Duloc.THE PLOT Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek, who lived with his parents ina mud hole by a tree. On the day of his birthday the little ogre’s parents told him that itwas time for him to go away in order to find a home in a new piece of land and theyprepared him some provisions for the journey. So the young ogre went off and found amuddy piece of land far, far away from the world that despised him. And there hestayed for many years, hidden away and all alone.One day some fairy tale creatures (Pinocchio, The three little pigs, Peter Pan, SnowWhite, Cinderella ), banished by the evil Lord Farquaad, entered in Shrek’s home.One of these was a talking Donkey. Shrek was really angry about their invasion anddecided to go to Duloc to demand Lord Farquaad his land back. Donkey went withhim. Lord Farquaad accepted Shrek’s request under one condition: he had to find andrescue Princess Fiona who was waiting for her true love in a tower guarded by a dragon.In fact Lord Farquaad had to marry a princess in order to become King of Duloc.Classe 2 A

Shrek and Donkey rescued Princess Fiona from the dragon and during the secondnight of their return journey, Donkey discovered that Fiona turned into an ogress. Sheexplained him that she was under a spell, which could only be broken by true love firstkiss. Shrek listened to part of their conversion but misunderstood and thought Fionacouldn’t love him because he was ugly. When she decided to tell Shrek the truth, thesun rose and she became a beautiful Princess again. Lord Farquaad arrived and tookFiona to his castle while Shrek and Donkey came back to the swamp. Later Donkeytold Shrek all the truth about Fiona so they rushed to Lord Farquaad’s castle to try tostop the wedding. When they arrivedthe sun was setting and Fionabecame an ogress again. Shrek andFiona kissed and she became anogress forever (the spell said: “Youfind true love first kiss when you willhave the true form of love”). Fionaand Shrek married and they livedhappily ever after Classe 2 A
