LaConner Bike MapThe LaConner on-road bike tours are designated tominimize the number of steep hill climbs, avoidvehicle and truck traffic, and maximize views andaccess to LaConner museums, historical assets,scenic viewpoints, boardwalks and piers, andother amenities for riders of all ages and skills.With the exception of Morris Street and theintersection at Maple Avenue, all streets withinLaConner are lightly traveled except during majorfestivals, when school starts at 8 am and lets outat 3 pm, and when the boatyard ends shift work at4 pm.With the exception of Morris Street and MapleAvenue, town streets are narrow and typical ofwhen the town was developed during the 18801890s. The eastern approach to the RainbowBridge on Maple Avenue/Pioneer Parkway has anarrow 2 foot bike shoulder. All other roads sharelanes with vehicles and bicyclists.All roads are 2-way except for Road Street which isone-way west and Basin Road when is 1-way westand south to State Street. All roads are pavedexcept for the south end of McGlinn Island Way tothe end of the Swinomish Channel.The waterfront and north end of town is flat andeasy to ride the complete length of 1st, 3rd, 6thStreets, and Pearl Jensen Way through the historicdowntown district, around the school complex, thenorth neighborhoods, and past the Port of Skagitmarinas and boatyards.The south end of town is also flat and easy to ridethe complete length of 1st and 4th Streets,Caledonia and Sherman Avenues, and McGlinnIsland Way around the Moore Clark warehouse,south neighborhood, and under the RainbowBridge.The hilltop, however, is steep and most easilyaccessed as shown from Douglas, Benton, and 4thStreets.
