Back CoverFeaturesThe Models 4700E/4800E (Electric) and 4700P/4800P (Pneumatic) arefield proven positioners utilizing a precision feedback cam to provideaccurate positioning, very fast response, and customized controlcharacteristics for control valves. These positioners can be used witheither rotary or reciprocating actuators. When mounted on reciprocatingactuators, a simple, rugged turnbuckle and lever assembly couples stemmotion to the cam. On rotary acutators, the cam is mounted directly onthe shaft. The main features of the Models 4700P/4700E and 4800P/4800Epositioners are:One Multi-lobe Cam - The cam provides linear, split linear and equalpercentage control characteristics. Custom characteristics are availableon special order.Zero Adjustment - Adjustment of the positioner zero can easily beaccomplished by means of the adjustable spring button. Furtherzeroing can be performed through the turnbuckle assembly onlinear motion actuators.Fully Enclosed - All adjustments are fully enclosed for protection fromthe environment.Simplicity - Positioner action can be reversed without additional parts(4700P/4800P only). The same mounting orientation is used for bothdirect and reverse action.Easy to Maintain - The pilot valve is the only moving part in the pilothousing. It is easily removed without disassembling any other part ofthe positioner.Optional Bypass - A molded nylon bypass valve with an O-ring sealpermits continued automatic control during the cleaning of the pilot valve. The bypass valve is concealed in back of the unit to prevent tampering. Thebypass is available only on the direct action 4700P pneumatic positioner.Damping Adjustment - On Model 4700, actuator travel speed can beadjusted as required for stable operation.Corrosion Resistant Material - Protection against harsh environments.Internal componts are manufactured of corrosion resistant materials.Trade names noted throughout are for reference only. Operation / FeaturesThe Models 4700P/4700E and 4800P/4800E cam positionersprovide precise positioning, fast response, and customizedcontrol characterisitics. The main features of the Models 4700P/4700E and 4800P/4800E are:Cam Characterization - This cam provides field changeable, linear, splitrange linear, and equal percentage control characteristics. Customcharacteristics are available on special order.Zero and Span Adjustments - For ease of installation and maintenance, two simple procedures provide easy adjustment of zero and span. Anadjustment nut allows zeroing while span is accomplished by changingthe effective length of the feedback spring. All adjustments are fullyenclosed for protection from the environment.Rotary ValvesOn rotary valves, the cam assembly is attached directly tothe end of the shaft, and only one positioner assembly isrequired. This proven performer eliminates linkage andassociated backlash problems.Reciprocating ValvesFor use with reciprocating valve spring diaphragmactuators, the positioner is fitted with a post huband shaft on which the cam is mounted. Actuation istransmitted to the cam via a rugged and simpleturnbuckle and lever assembly.NOTE: The electropneumatic (4700E/4800E) positioner has noadjustments in the I/P module.Simple and Easy to Maintain - The pilot valve is the only moving part inthe pilot housing. It is easily removed without disassembling any otherpart of the positioner. An optional bypass valve module is availablefor use on the Model 4700P pneumatic direct acting positioner. Whereoperating parameters allow, it permits the positioner to be isolated formaintenance while operating the valve directly with the instrumentsignal. The bypass module is mounted on the back of the positionerto discourage tampering.Corrosion Resistance - Premium performance is the standard onthe Models 4700P/4700E and 4800P/4800E positioners. Internalcomponents are manufactured of corrosion resistant materials forprotection against the harshest environments.CS4700PE - Models 4700P / 4700E and 4800P / 4800E 7
