Should you have any questions, your Equipment Provider will be happy to answerthem for you. What is the OxygenConcentratorThe air we breathe contains approximately 21%oxygen, 78% nitrogen, and 1% other gasses. In theVisionAire oxygen concentrator, room air is drawninto the machine through the air intakes. It thenpasses through an adsorbent material called molecular sieve. This material separates the oxygen fromthe nitrogen and allows only the oxygen to passthrough. The result is a flow of high-concentrationoxygen delivered to the user.PN MN238 C User ManualENG - 3

VisionAire FamilyNote: There is never a danger of depleting theoxygen in a room when you use your OxygenConcentrator unit. Why Your PhysicianPrescribed OxygenMany people suffer from a variety of heart, lung, and other respiratory diseases. A significant numberof these people can benefit from supplementaloxygen therapy at home, when traveling, or whileparticipating in daily activities away from home.Oxygen is a gas that makes up 21% of the room airwe breathe. Our bodies depend on a steady supplyto function properly. Your physician prescribed aflow or setting to address your particular respiratorycondition.Although oxygen is a non-addictive drug, unauthorized oxygen therapy can be dangerous. You mustseek medical advice before you use this oxygenconcentrator. The Equipment Provider who suppliesyour oxygen equipment will demonstrate how to setthe prescribed flow rate.WARNING: “NO SMOKING – OXYGENIN USE” SIGNS MUST BE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED IN THE HOME,OR WHERE OXYGEN IS IN USE. USERSAND THEIR CAREGIVERS MUST BEINFORMED ABOUT THE DANGERS OFSMOKING IN THE PRESENCE OF, ORWHILE USING, MEDICAL OXYGEN.CAUTION: The Manufacturer recommends an alternate source ofsupplemental oxygen in the eventof a power outage, alarm condition,or mechanical failure. Consult yourphysician or Equipment Provider forthe type of reserve system required.4 - ENGPN MN238 C User ManualIt is very important to select only the prescribed level of oxygen. Do not change theflow selection unless you have been directedto do so by a licensed clinician. The Oxygen Concentrator may be used duringsleep under the recommendation of a licensedclinician.Operator ProfileConcentrators are intended to supply supplementaloxygen to users suffering from discomfort due toailments which effect the efficiency of one’s lungsto transfer oxygen in the air to their bloodstream.Stationary oxygen concentrators (SOCs) do notstore or contain oxygen. They do not need to be refilled, and can recharge anywhere AC or DC power.Oxygen concentrator use requires a physician’sprescription and is not intended for life support use.Although oxygen therapy can be prescribed forusers of all ages, the typical oxygen therapy useris older than 65 years of age and suffers from avariety of respiratory diseases, including ChronicObstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Userstypically have good cognitive abilities and mustbe able to communicate discomfort. If the user isunable to communicate discomfort, or unable toread and understand the concentrator labeling andinstructions for use, then use is recommended onlyunder the supervision of one who can. If any discomfort is felt while using the concentrator, usersare advised to contact their healthcare provider.Users are also advised to have back-up oxygenavailable (i.e. cylinder oxygen) in the event of apower outage or concentrator failure. There areno other unique skills or user abilities required forconcentrator use.

VisionAire FamilySafety FeaturesThe following information will acquaint you withsafety features of the VisionAire Oxygen Concentrator. Make sure you read and understand all theinformation contained in this manual before youoperate your unit. Should you have any questions, your Equipment Provider will be happy to answerthem for you. Oxygen Monitor: The oxygen monitor detectsany drop in concentration below 82%. If this occurs the low oxygen concentration warning light() will illuminate. If the low O2 conditionpersists, an audible intermittent alarm will alsoactivate in addition to the alarm light. Power Failure: In the event the unit is operatingand a loss of power occurs, the power warninglight () will illuminate and an audibleintermittent alarm will activate. See label image. Product Filter: 10 μm filterDevice warning label and alarm display. Compressor Motor: A pressure relief valve isfitted to the compressor outlet and is calibrated to280 kPa (40 psig). Thermal safety is ensured bya thermostat situated in the stator winding of thecompressor (135 C / 275 F). General Malfunction: If any of the conditionslisted below occurs, the general malfunction light) will illuminate and an audible intermittent(alarm will activate. This includes: Obstruction to the flow of oxygen such as apinch or kink in the delivery cannula, triggered by high product tank pressure High device product tank pressure conditionof greater than 33psig ( 1) Low device product tank pressure conditionof less than 5psig ( 1) High device temperature of greater than135 C (275 F), triggered by low producttank pressure if the thermal switch locatedwithin the compressor trips (shutting downthe compressor)PN MN238 C User ManualENG - 5

If you turn theflowmeter adjustment knob clockwise, you willdecrease and can shut off the flow of oxygenfrom your unit. For your convenience, the flowmeter is marked in ½ LPM increments. For unitsequipped with the 2 LPM flowmeter option, theflowmeter is marked in 1/8 LPM increments forflow settings up to 2 LPM.Note: Cannula must be non-kinking, which can beused for a total length of 25 ft. (7.6 m) max.Ensure the cannula is fully inserted and secure. Youshould hear or feel oxygen flow to the prongs ofthe nasal cannula. If oxygen does not seem to flow, first verify that the flow meter ball is registeringa flow. Then, place the tip of the cannula into aglass of water; if bubbles come out of the cannula, oxygen is flowing. If bubbles do not appear, refer tothe troubleshooting section of this manual.Note: Always follow the cannula manufacturer’sinstructions for proper use. Replace the disposablecannula as recommended by the cannula manufacturer or your Equipment Provider. Additional supplies are available from your Equipment Provider.Note: The VisionAire Oxygen Concentrator must beoperated for at least five minutes at 2 LPM beforeusing the unit. The VisionAire is appropriate for usage by twousers, provided the combined flow is a minimum of2 LPM and does not exceed the maximum capacityof the concentrator. To Equipment Provider: The following oxygen administration accessories are recommended for usewith the VisionAire Oxygen Concentrator: Humidifier Bottle: Part No. HU003-1 Nasal Cannula with 7 feet (2.1 m) of tubing (6LPM max): Part No. CU002-1Note: The Manufacturer does not recommend thesterilization of this equipment.Note: If the unit has not been used for an extendedperiod of time, it needs to operate for severalminutes before power failure alarm can becomeactivated.Note: The concentrator releases warm air out thebottom of the unit which can permanently discolortemperature sensitive flooring surfaces such asvinyl. Guided by the results on flows of the first part, we shall reinterpret equation (0.4) to construct directly a flow ϕsolution to the equation (0.6) dϕ F X(dt), in a sense to be made precise in the third part of the course. The recipe of construction of ϕwill consist in associating to F and X a C1 .
