Do not apply directly to water. Drift and runoffmay be hazardous to aquatic organisms in water adjacentto use sites.Surface Water AdvisoryThis product may impact surface water quality due torunoff of rain water. This is especially true for poorlydraining soils and soils with shallow ground water. Thisproduct is classified as having high potential for reachingsurface water via runoff for several months or more afterapplication. A level, well-maintained vegetative bufferstrip between areas to which this product is applied andsurface water features such as ponds, streams, and springswill reduce the potential loading of chlorantraniliprolefrom runoff water and sediment. Runoff of this productwill be reduced by avoiding applications when rainfall isforecasted to occur within 48 hours.Ground Water AdvisoryThis chemical has properties and characteristics associatedwith chemicals detected in ground water. This chemicalmay leach into ground water if used in areas where soilsare permeable, particularly where the water table isshallow. Not for sale, sale into, distribution and/or use inNassau, Suffolk, Kings, and Queens counties of NewYork State.1

DIRECTIONS FOR USEresulting from use of this product in any manner not specifically stated on this label or other labels or bulletins publishedby DuPont. User assumes all risks associated with such nonspecified use.ALTACOR insect control is a water dispersible granule thatcan be applied as a foliar spray, using ground or aerial application to control listed insects. ALTACOR is mixed withwater for application.ALTACOR is a member of the anthranilic diamide class ofinsecticides with a novel mode of action acting on insectryanodine receptors. Although ALTACOR has contactactivity, it is most effective through ingestion of treated plantmaterial. After exposure to ALTACOR , affected insectswill rapidly stop feeding, become paralyzed, and typically diewithin 1 - 3 days. Time applications to the most susceptibleinsect pest stage, typically at egg hatch and/or newly hatchedlarvae, before populations reach damaging levels. For bestresults, applications must be made at or before egg deposition. It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a mannerinconsistent with its labeling.RESTRICTIONS Use this product only in commercial and farm plantings. Not for use in home plantings. Not for use on ornamental plants or plants being grown forornamental purposes. May be used on crops on this label grown for seed production. Do not use in greenhouses. Do not apply DuPont ALTACOR through any irrigationsystem unless specified in the crop section of this label or insupplemental labeling.New York State Only:The following restrictions are required to permit use ofALTACOR Insect Control in the State of New York: This product may not be applied within 100 feet of awater body (lake, pond, river, stream, wetland, ordrainage ditch). Aerial application of this product is prohibited. Not for sale, sale into, distribution and/or use inNassau, Suffolk, Kings, and Queens counties of NewYork State.INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENTDuPont supports the use of Integrated Pest Management(IPM) programs to control pests. This product may be usedas part of an IPM program, which can include biological, cultural, and genetic practices, aimed at preventingeconomic pest damage. IPM principles and practicesinclude field scouting or other detection methods, correcttarget pest identification, population monitoring, rotation ofinsecticides with different modes-of-action, and treatingwhen target pest populations reach locally determinedaction thresholds. Consult your state cooperative extensionservice, professional consultants or other qualified authorities to determine appropriate action treatment thresholdlevels for treating specific pest/crop or site systems in yourarea.AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTSALTACOR insect control must be used only in accordance. with its labeling and with the Worker ProtectionStandard, 40 CFR Part 170. This standard containsrequirements for the protection of agricultural workers onfarms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses, and handlersof agricultural pesticides. It contains requirements fortraining, decontamination, notification, and emergencyassistance. It also contains specific instructions andexceptions pertaining to the statements on the label aboutpersonal protective equipment, restricted-entry interval, and notification to workers (as applicable).Do not apply this product in a way that will contactworkers or other persons, either directly or through drift.Only protected handlers may be in the area during application. For any requirements specific to your State or Tribe, consult the State or Tribal agency responsible forpesticide regulation.Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areasduring the restricted-entry interval (REI) of 4 hours. For early entry into treated areas that is permitted underthe Worker Protection Standard and that involves contactwith anything that has been treated, such as plants, soil,or water, wear: Long-sleeved shirt and long pants Shoes plus socksSCOUTINGMonitor insect populations to determine whether or not thereis a need for application of ALTACOR based on locallydetermined economic thresholds. More than one treatment ofALTACOR may be required to control a population ofpests.RESISTANCE MANAGEMENTFor resistance management, ALTACOR is a Group 28Insecticide. Repeated and exclusive use of ALTACOR (chlorantraniliprole, belonging to the anthranilic diamide classof chemistry), or other Group 28 Insecticide may lead to thebuildup of resistant strains of insects in some crops. Some insects are known to develop resistance to productsused repeatedly for control. Because the development of resistance cannot be predicted, this product may be used as part ofresistance management strategies established for the use area. These strategies may include incorporation of cultural andbiological control practices, alternation of mode-of-actionclasses of insecticides on succeeding generations andtargeting the most susceptible life stage. Consult your local orstate agricultural authorities for details.ALTACOR insect control must be used only in accordancewith directions on this label or in separate DuPont supplemental labeling that may be made temporarily availablethrough local distributors, as a result of new EPA approvals.DuPont will not be responsible for losses or damages2

Unless directed otherwise in the specific crop/pest sections ofthis label, the best practices are to follow these instructions todelay the development of insecticide resistance: Apply DuPont ALTACOR or other Group 28 insecticides using a “treatment window” approach to avoidexposure of successive insect pest generations to the samemode of action. A “treatment window” is defined as the period of residualactivity provided by single or sequential applications ofproducts with the same mode of action. This “treatmentwindow” should not exceed approximately the length of onegeneration of the target pest. Within the “Group 28 treatment window”, make no morethan 3 applications of ALTACOR or other Group 28insecticides within a single generation of the target pest on acrop. Following a “Group 28 treatment window”, rotate to atreatment window of effective products with a differentmode of action. This “Non-Group 28 Window” shouldapproximate the duration of one generation of the targetpest. Target the most susceptible insect life stages, wheneverpossible. If resistance to ALTACOR develops in your area,ALTACOR or other products with a similar mode of action, may not provide adequate control. If poor performance cannotbe attributed to improper application or extreme weatherconditions, a resistant strain of insect may be present. If youexperience difficulty with control and resistance is a reasonable cause, immediately consult your local company representative or agricultural advisor for the best alternate method ofcontrol for your area. For additional information on insectresistance monitoring, visit the Insecticide Resistance ActionCommittee (IRAC) on the web at http://www.irac-online.org.aerial application use a minimum of 5 gallons per acre (gpa)of water; for ground application use a minimum of 10 gallonsper acre of water. In some situations where coverage is difficult to achieve suchas closed canopy, dense foliage, plants with waxy leafsurfaces, or less than optimum application equipment, anadjuvant may improve performance. Use only adjuvantproducts that are labeled for agricultural use and follow thedirections on the manufacturer's label. Always conduct apremix test for compatibility. Use a proven adjuvant that doesnot affect foliage and/or fruit finish. Refer to specific cropsections of this label for additional adjuvant guidance.Use of adjuvants is restricted on cotton and prickly pearcactus - see those specific crop instructions in the followingcrop tables.CROP ROTATIONCrops on this label and the following crops or crop groupsmay be planted immediately following harvest: Artichoke, globe; Asparagus; Brassica (Cole) Leafy Vegetables (CropGroup 5); Corn (field, pop, seed, and sweet); CucurbitVegetables (Crop Group 9); Forage, Fodder, and Straw ofCereal Grains (Crop Group 16); Fruiting Vegetables (CropGroup 8); Grass Forage, Fodder and Hay (Crop Group 17);Herbs subgroup (Crop Group subgroup 19A); Hops; LeafyVegetables (non-brassica, Crop Group 4); Legume Vegetablesexcept soybean (Crop Group 6); Foliage of LegumeVegetables except soybean (Crop Group 7); Spearmint,Peppermint, Nongrass Animal Feeds (Forage, Fodder, Straw, and Hay Crop Group 18); Okra; Bulb onion vegetables (CropSubgroup 3-07A); Peanuts; Protected Seed Oilseeds (crambe,hare’s-ear mustard, jojoba, lesquerella, lunaria, milkweed, mustard seed, oil radish, poppy seed, rapeseed/canola, rosehip, sesame, tallowwood, tea oil plant); Rice; Root and TuberVegetables (Crop Group 1): Spice subgroup (Crop Groupsubgroup 19B); Strawberries: Sugarcane; Tobacco: and Topsof Root and Tuber Vegetables (Crop Group 2).The following crops or crop groups may be planted 30 daysfollowing the last application of ALTACOR : leek, greenonion, Welsh onion, Cereal Grains (Crop Group 15), soybeanand the following oilseed crops: borage, calendula, castor oilplant, Chinese tallowtree, cuphea, echium, euphorbia, eveningprimrose, flax, gold of pleasure, meadowfoam, niger seed, safflower, stokes aster, sunflower, sweet rocket and veronia. All other crops cannot be planted until 12 months after thelast application of ALTACOR .APPLICATIONApply at the specified rates when insect populations reachlocally determined economic thresholds. Consult the cooperative extension service, professional consultants or otherqualified authorities to determine appropriate threshold levelsfor treatment in your area.Apply follow-up treatments of ALTACOR , as specified, tokeep pest populations within threshold limits. Refer to theResistance Management section of this label for furtherguidance on follow-up treatments. See individual cropsections of this label for specific minimum spray interval.Use sufficient water to obtain thorough, uniform coverage.Because ALTACOR is most effective through ingestion oftreated plant material, thorough spray coverage is essential foroptimum control of targeted pest insects. Using increasedwater volumes will typically result in better spray coverage, especially under adverse conditions such as dry, hot weatheror dense plant foliage. Apply ALTACOR using ground oraerial application equipment. For ground application use thefollowing directions unless otherwise specified in separatecrop sections of this label: use a minimum of 30 gallons peracre (gpa) of water. ALTACOR may be applied byoverhead chemigation on certain crops; for overhead chemigation applications see, "APPLICATION BY CHEMIGATION" section of this label for guidance. For aerial application use the following directions unless otherwise specified inthis label or in supplemental labeling: use a minimum of 10gallons per acre (gpa) of water. For potato and cotton: forAPPLICATION BY CHEMIGATION –CRANBERRYInstructions for the Use of ALTACOR in OverheadSprinkler Chemigation Systems.Types of Chemigation Systems: ALTACOR may be appliedonly through overhead sprinkler irrigation systems. Overheadirrigation systems include the following; center pivot, endtow, hand move, lateral move, side roll, solid set and wheelline. The irrigation system used must provide uniform waterdistribution.Directions for Chemigation:PreparationA pesticide tank is recommended for the application ofALTACOR in chemigation systems. Thoroughly clean the3

service connections or regularly serves an average of at least25 individuals at least 60 days out of the year.1.The system must contain a functional check valve, vacuumrelief valve and low pressure drain appropriately located onthe irrigation pipeline to prevent water source contamination from backflow.2.The pesticide injection pipeline must contain a functional, automatic, quick-closing check valve to prevent the flow offluid back toward the injection pump.3.The pesticide injection pipeline must also contain a functional, normally closed, solenoid-operated valve located onthe intake side of the injection pump and connected to thesystem interlock to prevent fluid from being withdrawnfrom the supply tank when the irrigation system is eitherautomatically or manually shut down.4.The system must contain functional interlocking controls toautomatically shut off the pesticide injection pump whenthe water pump motor stops.5.The irrigation line or water pump must include a functionalpressure switch which will stop the water pump motor whenthe water pressure decreases to the point where pesticidedistribution is adversely affected.6.Systems must use a metering pump such as a positivedisplacement injection pump (e.g. diaphragm pump)injection system and tank of any fertilizer or chemicalresidues using a standard clean-out procedure. Dispose of anyresidues in accordance with State and Federal laws. With themix tank ¼ to 1/2 full with water and the agitator running, measure the required amount of DuPont ALTACOR andadd it to the tank. Then add additional water to bring yourtotal pesticide mixture up to the desired volume for yourapplication.Note: Always add the ALTACOR to water, never putALTACOR into a dry tank or other mixing equipmentwithout first adding water.See "Tank Mixing Sequence" section of the container labelfor tank mixing sequence. Continue to agitate the mixturethroughout the application process. Use mechanical orhydraulic agitation, do not use air agitation.Injection Into Chemigation SystemsInject the proper amount of ALTACOR into the irrigationwater flow using a positive displacement injection pump.Injection should occur at a point in the main irrigation waterflow to ensure thorough mixing with the irrigation water. Forcontinuously moving systems, inject the solution containingALTACOR into the irrigation water line continually anduniformly throughout the irrigation cycle. Apply in no morethan 0.2 inches of water per acre. For overhead sprinklersystems that are stationary, add the solution containingALTACOR to the irrigation water line and apply no morethan 0.2 inches of water per acre.Uniform Water DistributionThe irrigation system used for application of ALTACOR must provide for uniform distribution of ALTACOR treatedwater. Non-uniform distribution can result in crop injury, lackof effectiveness or illegal pesticide residues in or on the cropbeing treated. Ensure the irrigation system is calibrated touniformly distribute the chemigation application to the crop.Contact the equipment manufacturer, the local UniversityExtension agent or other experts if you have questions aboutachieving uniform distribution of the application.Equipment CalibrationCalibrate the irrigation system and injector before applyingALTACOR . Calibrate the injection pump while the systemis running using the expected irrigation rate. If you havequestions about calibration, you should contact your stateextension service specialists, equipment manufacturer or otherexperts.Monitoring of Chemigation ApplicationsA person knowledgeable of the chemigation system andresponsible for its operation, or under the supervision of aresponsible person, shall shut the system down and makenecessary adjustments should the need arise. Wear thepersonal protective equipment as defined in the PPE sectionof the label for applicators and other handlers when makingadjustments or repairs on the chemigation system whenALTACOR is in the irrigation water.Required System Safety DevicesDo not connect any irrigation system used for pesticide applications to a public water system unless the pesticide labelprescribed safety devices are in place. Public water systemmeans a system for the provision to the public of piped waterfor human consumption, if such a system has at least 15SPRAY PREPARATIONSpray equipment must be clean and free of previouspesticide deposits before applying ALTACOR . Fill spraytank 1/4 to 1/2 full of water. Add ALTACOR directly tospray tank. Mix thoroughly to fully disperse the insecticide;once dispersed continued agitation is required. Use mechanical or hydraulic means; do not use air agitation. Do notstore spray mix solutions overnight in spray tank. Observethe most restrictive of the labeling limitations and precautions of all products used in mixtures.Compatibility - Since formulations may be changed andnew ones introduced, premix a small quantity of a desiredtank mix and observe for possible adverse changes (settlingout, flocculation, etc.).
