Rinse parts and dry thoroughly.Before first use, prime the system by running two Full Carafe, Classic brew cycles withwater only. After each cycle is complete, discard the water. For detailed instructions,refer to the Priming Your Ninja Specialty Coffee Maker section.PLEASE KEEP THIS IMPORTANT SAFEGUARD IN MIND WHEN USING THE APPLIANCE:DO NOT run the appliance without water.SETTING THE CLOCK1 When the unit is plugged in, the clockwill flash on the control panel to indicatethat the time has not been set.2 Press the hour (H) or minute (M) buttonuntil you reach the current time. The AM orPM indicator will illuminate on the left sideof the display as you are setting the time.3 After 5 seconds, the clock will stopflashing and the clock will be set.NOTE: If the clock stops flashing anddoes not display the correct time ofday, pressing the hour (H) or minute (M)button at any time will cause the clockto flash again. You can now reprogramthe correct time by following theprevious steps.NOTE: If you unplug the coffee maker orin the event of an extended power loss,you will need to reset the clock the nexttime the coffee maker is plugged in.SCA CERTIFIED HOME BREWERThe Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) recognizes home brewers that meettheir longstanding rigorous technical requirements. These requirements arebased on decades of industry knowledge and research by the Coffee BrewingCenter. All SCA Certified Home Brewers have met these requirements,which are based generally on proper water temperature, brewing time,and ability to brew within the SCA Golden Cup recommendationsIf a brewer passes all of the tests in the certification procedure, as conducted by the SCA,that brewer will be eligible to be recognized as an exemplary home brewer and join theshort list of SCA Certified Home Brewers.This coffeemaker has been certified by the SCA to meet their Golden Cup Standard,designed for optimal extraction and strength. SCA Certification testing was performedusing the Half Carafe and Full Carafe on Classic brew using the Low warming platesetting. Testing used the following ground coffee measurements: 55 grams for a HalfCarafe and 77 grams for a Full Carafe. Running a calibration cycle will help deliver a consistent brew each time.1 Fill the water reservoir up to, but not exceeding, the Max Fill line.2 Place the empty filter holder into the brew basket, and an empty vessel in the machine.3 Press and hold both CLASSIC and OVER ICE until clock displays CAL.4 A calibration cycle will begin. When complete, the unit will beep and End will appearon the clock display. USING THE BREW BASKET1USING THE DRIP STOP2CAN’T WAIT FOR THE FIRST CUP?When brewing a carafe, close the Drip Stopto pause the brew cycle and pour a cup.Promptly replace the carafe and open theDrip Stop to complete the brew.If you forget to open the Drip Stop, thecoffee maker will pause the brew, andafter 20 seconds it will give you a friendlyaudible reminder. After 6 minutes, the brewwill be canceled.NOTE: If the Drip Stop is closed beforeyou begin a brew, the coffee makerwill notify you with 5 beeps and theDrip Stop indicator will illuminate. Setthe Drip Stop to the open position andselect your brew type.Open the brew basket by swinging it outof the coffee maker.Insert the Filter Holder in the brew basket.3Use the Ninja Smart Scoop and follow themeasurements on the scoop to fill the filter.10 ninjakitchen.comPlace a #4 paper cone filter in thefilter holder.CLOSING THE DRIP STOP AFTER A BREWNOTE: Fold the paper filter along theseams, open it fully, and firmly press itinto the filter holder, making sure it isfully seated.When the brew cycle is complete, set theDrip Stop to the closed position to stopdripping from the brew basket. INTELLIGENT WARMING PLATE & STAY WARM BUTTONINTELLIGENT WARMING PLATEThe Intelligent Warming Plate willautomatically turn on during a Half orFull Carafe size of Classic or Rich brew.The Intelligent Warming Plate will adjustthe heat it produces to avoid burningthe coffee over time.IMPORTANT: The HOT SURFACEindicator will illuminate when the warmingplate is hot.TIME & TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENTYou can adjust how long the Intelligent Warming Plate remains on (up to 4 hours) and/or setthe temperature to High or Low. By default, the Intelligent Warming Plate is set to remain onfor 2 hours, and is set to High to keep your coffee hot. The Low setting keeps your brew ata slightly lower temperature to preserve flavor longer.To change the time/temperature settings of your warming plate, follow these instructions:1Press and hold STAY WARM until the clock beginsto flash the current warming time.2Quickly press the hour (H) and/or minute (M) buttons toincrease the time up to 4 hours or decrease the time to0 hours. Press STAY WARM to set the new time. Or wait5 seconds, and the unit will beep, signifying the newtime has been set.3Next, the clock will display the current warming platetemperature. To keep the same temperature, pressSTAY WARM, or wait 5 seconds for the same temperatureto lock in. To change the temperature, press the hour (H)or (M) buttons, then press STAY WARM, or wait 5 secondsfor the temperature to lock in.STAY WARM BUTTONPress STAY WARM after the brew to turnthe Intelligent Warming Plate off. Ensure you are using at least a 12 oz. cup for the Cup size, 14 oz. cup for the XL Cup size,16 oz. travel mug for the Travel Mug size, and 20 oz. travel mug for the XL Multi-Serve size.SPECIALTY BREWNOTE: You don’t need to adjust the size for Specialty Brew—it always yields 4 oz.CLASSIC AND RICH BREWSNOTE: Rich brew will yield slightly less brewed coffee than Classic brew.CLASSICRICHPlace the empty vessel you would like tobrew into under the brew basket.Press CLASSIC or RICH and the brew willbegin. Press CLASSIC or RICH again tocancel the brew.The brew will begin, stop, and be quietfor a short period of time before it beginsagain. This process is used to evenlysaturate the coffee grounds.The unit will beep to signal a completed brew.Use the Multi-Serve Dial to selectthe brew size. Place the empty vesselyou would like to brew into underthe brew basket.OVER ICE BREWNOTE: If brewing an iced blended drink, fillthe desired vessel with the amount of icerecommended in the recipe before brewing.Press SPECIALTY and the brew will begin.Press SPECIALTY again to cancel the brew.The brew will begin, stop, and be quietfor a short period of time before it beginsagain. This process is used to evenlysaturate the coffee grounds.The unit will beep to signal a completed brew.FROTHING MILKPour milk into cup, until it is about ⅓ full. (Use more or less milkdepending on your preference.) For hot froth, microwave 45 to60 seconds.Move the frother into the ready position by swinging the armtoward the front.Hold the cup under the frother and submerge the whisk just belowthe surface of the milk. This allows air to fold into the milk for thefrothiest results.Press and hold the frothing button for 30 to 45 seconds.Use the Multi-Serve Dial to selectthe brew size. Fill your desired vesselto the top with ice cubes and placethe vessel below the brew basket.NOTE: DO NOT use glassware. However,the provided Ninja glass carafe is safe touse due to its specialized glass material.Press OVER ICE and the brew will begin.Press OVER ICE again to cancel the brew.The brew will begin, stop, and be quietfor a short period of time before it beginsagain. This process is used to evenlysaturate the coffee grounds.The unit will beep to signal a completed brew.You can easily remove the frother whisk by twisting it clockwise.To avoid spills, keep your cup below the whisk and carry it to yoursink or dishwasher for cleaning.IMPORTANT: Always fill the desired vesselto the top with ice before placing it belowthe brew basket. DELAY BREWCARE & MAINTENANCEAFTER EACH BREWNOTE: For best results, we recommendrinsing the reservoir after brewing andrefilling with fresh water for the next brew.NOTE: The unit must remain on for theDelay Brew function to work. DO NOTpower off after setting Delay Brew.IMPORTANT: Make sure the Drip Stop is inthe open position.1 Turn the unit on by pressing thePower button.2 After filling the water reservoir andadding ground coffee to the filterholder, be sure the reservoir andbrew basket are securely in place.Place the appropriate-size vesselunder brew basket.3 Press DELAY BREW. DELAY BREW willilluminate and the clock will begin toflash “12:00” or the last Delay Brewtime that was set.4 Once the proper time has been set,select the size of the vessel that youwould like to brew into.5 Select the brew style that you desirefrom the 4 flashing buttons. The selectedbrew style will remain illuminated.6 Once the time, brew size, and brew stylehave been set, allow DELAY BREW tostop flashing, or press DELAY BREWto activate. When activated, the unitwill beep and DELAY BREW and yourselected options will remain illuminated.To cancel, press DELAY BREW again.NOTE: If you attempt to change yourselections while Delay Brew is set, theunit will beep and DELAY BREW willflash. To change your selections, cancelDELAY BREW.16 ninjakitchen.com1 After the unit has cooled, remove thefilter holder from the brew basket anddiscard the paper filter. Thoroughly washthe filter holder with soap and warmwater or place on top rack of dishwasher.2 Clean the frother whisk after each use.Hand-wash thoroughly or place on toprack of dishwasher.3 Wash the carafe and brew-through lidwith soap and warm water. Use a bottlebrush or a cloth to wash the inside of thecarafe. DO NOT use a wire brush.NOTE: The glass carafe, brew-through lid,removable filter holder, water reservoir,flip-top lid, frother whisk, and scoop aretop-rack dishwasher safe.4 After the coffee maker has cooled, wipedown the main unit, showerhead, andwater reservoir shelf with a cloth and warmwater. DO NOT immerse the coffee makerin water.CLEANING THE WATER RESERVOIREmpty the water reservoir and hand-washor place in your dishwasher.CLEANING & DESCALINGThe CLEAN button will illuminate when acleaning cycle is recommended for yourunit, as calcium scale buildup could beaffecting the flavor of your coffee.To clean and descale your Ninja SpecialtyCoffee Maker:NOTE: The clean cycle takes approximately60 minutes. If you cancel the clean cycle,your machine will not be properly descaled.1 Select the Full Carafe size and set theempty carafe beneath the brew basket.2 Use a descaling solution specificallyformulated for coffee maker cleaningand follow the directions on the package.Fill the water reservoir up to, but notexceeding, the Max Fill line (50 oz.).OR Fill the water reservoir to the Travel Mugline (16 oz.) with white vinegar, then fillthe rest of the reservoir with water up to,but not exceeding, the Max Fill line.IMPORTANT: Use only white vinegar3 Once the water reservoir is filled, pressthe CLEAN button.CLEANING THE CARAFEWe recommend cleaning your carafe withwarm, soapy water.If you want to clean the carafe morethoroughly, we recommend using a softfoam brush. DO NOT use a wire brush.4 The clock will display and count down theremaining clean cycle time, which takesapproximately 60 minutes to complete.Your unit will deliver a small amount ofcleaning solution to distribute it throughthe system. It will then pause, deliveradditional cleaning solution, and continuefor 60 minutes. The extended pausesallow for maximum cleaning and descaling.IMPORTANT: DO NOT remove the carafeat any time throughout the clean cycle.5 Upon completion, the coffee maker willbeep, the clock will display End, and theCLEAN light will turn off.6 Empty and thoroughly clean the carafeand water reservoir with warm, soapy waterto remove any cleaning solution that couldaffect the flavor of your coffee.7 Fill the reservoir with fresh water upto, but not exceeding, the Max Fill lineand set the empty carafe beneath thebrew basket.8 Flush the system by running a FullCarafe, Classic brew cycle with wateronly. After the cycle is complete, discardthe water and thoroughly clean the carafe.NOTE: If the CLEAN light illuminatesagain, then calcium buildup is still present.Repeat the cleaning cycle instructions fromthe beginning, and the CLEAN light willautomatically turn off when your coffeemaker is clean.NOTE: To cancel the clean cycle, pressthe Power button or CLEAN button once.The unit will beep and stop brewingthrough the cleaning mixture. If using a permanent filter (sold separately), the sediment at the bottom of the brewedcoffee may be due to using finely ground coffee. To reduce the amount of sediment in the brewed coffee, use a slightly coarser grind or usea paper filter.The One (1) Year Limited Warranty applies to purchases made from authorized retailers of SharkNinjaOperating LLC. Warranty coverage applies to the original owner and to the original product only andis not transferable.NOTE: We DO NOT recommend using a paper filter in conjunction with the permanent filter,as clogging and backing up of water and/or coffee in the filter basket can occur.SharkNinja warrants that the unit shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for aperiod of one (1) year from the date of purchase when it is used under normal household conditionsand maintained according to the requirements outlined in the Owner’s Guide, subject to thefollowing conditions and exclusions:COFFEE IS TOO WEAK. For stronger coffee, use the Rich brew setting, try darker roast beans, or use thepermanent filter (sold separately) rather than a paper filter.
