THE SOUND THAT CREATES LEGENDS‘65 DeluxeReverbTYPE: PR 239,Owner s ManualP/N 047059

INTRODUCTIONYour “new” ‘65 DELUXE REVERB amplifier is livingproof of the quality and longevity of Fenderamplifier designs.Of all the Fender amplifiers produced over the past40 years, the Deluxe Reverb has probably beenused on more recordings than any other amplifierin history. Over the years, Deluxe Reverbs haveproven to be incredibly versatile, used for surf, rock, blues, soul, country and everything inbetween. In fact, many early hard rock and heavymetal recordings were done with the DeluxeReverb because of its great natural distortioncharacteristics, an unintended feature at the time.Whatever the playing style, the Deluxe Reverb hasalways been able to produce “the right sound”.Your new ‘65 DELUXE REVERB is a faithfulreproduction of an original 1965 Deluxe Reverb(model AB763 for historical or technical types).Every effort has been made to keep the pre-ampand power amp circuits exactly like the original. For improved reliability and manufacturingefficiency, a printed circuit board for thecomponents is used in place of the original “Leoboard” style phenolic parts panel used in the olderFender amplifiers for many years. The power andoutput transformers used in the ‘65 DELUXEREVERB are built to the original specificationswhich were still in the Fender R&D departmentfiles. Some components used in this re-issueamplifier are different in size and shape from theearlier version, but the component values areidentical. The ‘65 DELUXE REVERB is 22 watts, like theoriginal. This model (AB 763) is often referred toas a “Black-face Deluxe Reverb” (because of thecontrol panel’s color) and was first introduced in1964 and continued until mid 1968 when thecontrol panel was changed to silver swirl look thatlasted through 1980.The speaker in the ‘65 DELUXE REVERB is aduplicate of the original Jensen 12 inch “SpeciallyDesigned for Fender” speaker used for many yearsduring the I960s.Please note, if you compare a new ‘65 DELUXEREVERB with an original model, the two units maysound slightly different. Remember that the speakerand filter capacitors in the original are over 25years old and their performance has changed overthe years. It is suggested you read this manual thoroughly tounderstand all the features and functions of theamplifier. The purchase of a Fender amplifier willprovide years of musical enjoyment and the ‘65DELUXE REVERB helps keep the Fender legendgoing strong.WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE ORSHOCK HAZARD, DO NOT EXPOSE AMPLIFIERTO RAIN OR MOISTURE!
