Powerlevels that are too high, or cooking timesthat are too long, may overheat foodsresulting in a fire.The R-24ST is not designed to be built into akitchen unit.For the R-2B34, please refer to the Building-in Kitinstructions.The electrical outlet must be readily accessible sothat the unit can be unplugged easily in anemergency.The AC power supply must be 230V, 50Hz, with aminimum 10A distribution line fuse, or a minimum10A distribution circuit breaker.It is recommended that a separate circuit servingonly this appliance be provided.Do not place the oven in areas where heat isgenerated. For example, close to a conventional oven.Do not install the oven in an area of high humidityor where moisture may collect.Do not store or use the oven outdoors.WARNING:Do not operate the oven if it is damaged ormalfunctioning. See Page 19.Do not leave the oven unattended whenusing disposable plastic, paper or othercombustible food containers.Do not allow grease or dirt to build upon the door seals and adjacent parts.Follow instructions for “Care andCleaning”, Page 18.Clean the waveguide cover, the ovencavity, the turntable and roller stay afteruse. These must be dry and free fromgrease. Built-up grease may overheatand begin to smoke or catch fire.Individuals with PACEMAKERS should check withtheir doctor or the manufacturer of the pacemakerfor precautions regarding microwave ovens.To avoid the possibility of electric shockUnder no circumstances should you remove theouter cabinet.Never spill or insert any objects into the door lockopenings or ventilation openings. In the event of aspill, turn off and unplug the oven immediately, andcall an authorised SHARP service agent.Do not immerse the power supply cord or plug inwater or any other liquid.Do not place flammable materials near the oven orventilation openings. Do not block the ventilationopenings.Remove all metallic seals, wire twists, etc., fromfood and food packages. Arcing on metallicsurfaces may cause a fire.Do not use the microwave oven to heat oil for deepfrying. The temperature cannot be controlled andthe oil may catch fire.4

If the oven lamp fails,please consult your dealer or an authorised SHARPservice agent.If the power supply cord of this appliance isdamaged, it must be replaced with a special cord.The exchange must be made by an authorisedSHARP service agent.To avoid the possibility of explosion andsudden boiling:To avoid the possibility of burnsUse pot holders or oven gloves when removing foodfrom the oven to prevent burns.Always open containers, popcorn makers, ovencooking bags, etc., away from the face and hands toavoid steam burns.To a v o i d b u r n s , a l w a y s t e s t f o o dtemperature and stir before serving andpay special attention to the temperatureof food and drink given to babies,children or the elderly.Temperature of the container is not a trueindication of the temperature of the food or drink;always check the food temperature.Always stand back from the oven door when openingit to avoid burns from escaping steam and heat.Slice stuffed baked foods after heating to releasesteam and avoid burns.Keep children away from the door to prevent themburning themselves.To avoid misuse by childrenWARNING: Only allow children to usethe oven without super vision whenadequate instructions have been givenso that the child is able to use the ovenin a safe way and understands thehazards of improper use.Do not lean or swing on the oven door. Do notplay with the oven or use it as a toy.Children should be taught all important safetyinstructions: use of pot holders, careful removal offood coverings; paying special attention topackaging (e.g. self-heating materials) designed tomake food crisp, as they may be extra hot.Other warningsNever modify the oven in any way.Do not move the oven while it is in operation.This oven is for home food preparation only andmay only be used for cooking food. It is notsuitable for commercial or laboratory use.To promote trouble-free use of your ovenand avoid damage.Never operate the oven when it is empty.When using a browning dish or self-heatingmaterial, always place a heat-resistant insulatorsuch as a porcelain plate under it to preventdamage to the turntable and roller stay due to heatstress. The preheating time specified in the dishesinstructions must not be exceeded.Do not use metal utensils, which reflect microwavesand may cause electrical arcing. Do not put cansin the oven.WARNING: Liquids and other foods mustnot be heated in sealed containers sincethey are liable to explode.Never use sealed containers. Remove seals andlids before use. Sealed containers can explodedue to a build up of pressure even after the ovenhas been turned off.Take care when microwaving liquids. Use a widemouthed container to allow bubbles to escape.Never heat liquids in narrow neckedcontainers such as baby bottles, as thismay result in the contents erupting fromthe container when heated and causeburns.To prevent sudden eruption of boiling liquid andpossible scalding:1. Stir liquid prior to heating/reheating.2. It is advisable to insert a glass rod or similar utensilinto the liquid whilst reheating.3. Let liquid stand in the oven at the end of cookingtime to prevent delayed eruptive boiling.Do not cook eggs in their shells, and wholehard boiled eggs should not be heated inmicrowave ovens since they may explodeeven after microwave cooking has ended.To cook or reheat eggs which have notbeen scrambled or mixed, pierce the yolksand the whites, or the eggs may explode.Shell and slice hard boiled eggs beforereheating them in the microwave oven.Pierce the skin of such foods as potatoes, sausagesand fruit before cooking, or they may explode.5ENGLISHIMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Do not operate the oven without theturntable.To prevent the turntable from breaking:(a) Before cleaning the turntable with water, leavethe turntable to cool.(b) Do not put hot foods or hot utensils on a coldturntable.(c) Do not put cold foods or cold utensils on a hotturntable.Do not place anything on the outer cabinet duringoperation.NOTE:If you are unsure how to connect your oven, pleaseconsult an authorised, qualified electrician.Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer can acceptany liability for damage to the oven or personalinjury resulting from failure to observe the correctelectrical connection procedure.Water vapour or drops may occasionally form onthe oven walls or around the door seals andsealing surfaces. This is a normal occurrence and isnot an indication of microwave leakage or amalfunction.INSTALLATION4. Ensure there is a minimum free space above theoven of 15 cm (R-24ST only):1. Remove all packing materials from the inside ofthe oven cavity. Discard the loose polythene sheetfrom between the door and cavity. Remove thefeature sticker, if attached, from the outside ofthe door.15 cmDo not remove the protective film attached to theinside of the door.5. Securely connect the plug of the oven to astandard earthed (grounded) household electricaloutlet. REMOVE R-2B34:DO NOT REMOVE2. Check the oven carefully for any signs of damage.3. Place the oven on a flat, level surface strongenough to support the oven’s weight plus theheaviest item likely to be cooked.6Please refer to the Building-in KitInstructions supplied.

Cancel a programme during cooking, touch twice.Plug in the oven.1. The oven display will flash:2. Touch the STOP button the display will show:x1To set the clock, see below.SETTING THE CLOCKThere are two setting modes: 12 hour clock and 24 hour clock.1. To set the 12 hour clock, hold the MICROWAVE POWER LEVEL buttondown for 3 seconds.will appear in the display.2. To choose the power levelfor cooking, follow the advice given in the recipe section.Generally the following recommendations apply:50 P (400 W) for dense foods which require a longcooking time when cooked conventionally, eg. beefdishes, it is advisable to use this power setting toensure the meat will be tender.100 P (800 W) used for fast cooking or reheatinge.g. soup, casseroles, canned food, hot beverages,vegetables, fish, etc.30 P (240 W) to defrost, select this power setting, toensure that the dish defrosts evenly. This setting is alsoideal for simmering rice, pasta, dumplings andcooking egg custard.70 P (560 W) used for longer cooking of dense foodssuch as roast joints, meat loaf and plated meals, alsofor sensitive dishes such as cheese sauce and spongecakes. At this reduced setting, the sauce will not boilover and food will cook evenly without over cooking atthe sides.10 P (80 W) For gentle defrosting, eg. creamgateaux or pastry.P Percentage.To set the power, touch the MICROWAVE POWER LEVEL button until the desired level is displayed. IfMICROWAVE POWER LEVEL button is touched once,will be displayed. If you miss your desired level,continue touching the MICROWAVE POWER LEVEL button until you reach the level again. If the level is notselected, the level 100 P is automatically set.MANUAL OPERATIONYour oven can be programmed for up to 90 minutes.(90.00) The input unit of cooking (defrosting) timevaries from 10 seconds to five minutes. The cooking time starts to count down again when the door is closed and the 1min/START button is pressed.2. If you wish to know the power level during cooking, press the MICROWAVE POWER LEVEL button.As long as your finger is touching the MICROWAVE POWER LEVEL button, the power level will be displayed.3. You can rotate the TIMER/WEIGHT/PORTION knob clockwise or counterclockwise. If you rotate theknob counterclockwise, the cooking time will decrease from 90 minutes by degrees.8
