I joined the Monclova Township Fire Departmentright out of graduating and serve as an EMT/Firefighter. Ihave been on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemicwhere I cared for the very first confirmed Covid Positivepatient in Lucas County and have been serving on the frontlines ever since. I constantly work with experts in thehealth field and feel like I have greater understanding andknowledge than any other candidate.Question 2In recent years, I have been asked to serve on advisorycommittees for Anthony Wayne's Agriscience Educationprogram, Penta Career Center's Satellite AgriscienceEducation programs, and I was a part of the district-widePortrait of a Graduate committee for Anthony Wayne LocalSchools in 2019. This work has added to my ability tocollaborate with others from different backgrounds. Inaddition to those committees, my career as a cattle businessmanager requires me to gather information to manage risk inthe markets and to generate profits for my employer. I willbring these experiences together to serve as an effective boardof education member. What do you think are the biggest challenges to improving educational outcomes? How do you intend to address them?I want to ensure that children are being taught conservativeeducational principles. The most pressing issues for thedistrict right now are student safety, education and parentalinvolvement, Drugs in the district are a major issue, and Iwant the district to do a better job of monitoring andscreening for illegal drugs and áparaphernalia in theschools. The current mask mandate could put somestudents at risk only parents should decide whether theirchildren should wear masks. Internet bullying is anothersafety concern, and I want to find a way to work withteachers and parents to monitor online bullying and holdthose who participate accountable. A child's mental healthis just as important as their physical health. Educationshould focus on traditional, conservative values givingthem the tools they need to be model citizens.I want to bethe voice for the parents of the AW district! When I think about what challenges our ability to improveeducational outcomes it is coming up with additionalpathways for students that are not interested in attending atraditional four year college. Students can also start their ownbusinesses, enlist in our armed forces, enter the workforcedirectly, or combine some of these to match their goals fortheir futures. We are located in an area with an abundance ofdifferent industries for students to investigate such asagribusiness, healthcare, and manufacturing. The earlier webegin to offer exploratory opportunities, the sooner they canbegin to see the overlap between what they're learning in theclassroom and how that applies to their field of interest. I willwork to create relationships with those industries to createopportunities for students to get hands on experiences andhelp them make plans for their future success. What experiences have you had that has prepared you to bea School Board Member? What experiences have you ha35 years of public education as a teacher, coachand Administrator. I have also served as a BoardMember on the ESCLEW for 6 years, one as VicePresident and three as President. What do you think are the biggest challenges to improving educational outcomes? How do you intend to address them?ESCLEW works with a number of school districtshelping them find the best solutions for theirindividual needs. As long as we have opencommunications with the districts we work witheducational outcomes will improve. What are your highest prand how will yo

Ihave served on several committees and boardsincluding Maumee Indoor Theater, JEDZ(Maumee, Monclova, Toledo), finance, andMaster Plan. Prior to my city position I heldpositions in finance and accounts receivable inmedical offices for the past 37 years, specializingin insurance billing and collections. Myfundraising endeavors over the past 16 years hastaught me how to network effectively, organizeevents on a large scale, and keep financial recordsthat stood up to a state audit.d, and how will youWhat experiences havprepared you to be a ScWhat experiences have you had that will enable you to fulfill this office's responsibilities? What about your non-judicial legal experience qualifies youto be a judge? Why are you running for this particular court seat?I am a licensed journeyman electrician in charge ofsupervising and training apprentices and have heldleadership positions throughout my life in both volunteerand professional capacities. As a near-lifelong resident ofMaumee, I'm in tune with the recent history of our city andthe particular political climate that Maumee City Councilcurrently operates under. For the past four years, I havemade a point to attend nearly every council meeting, whichhas provided me with abundant insight into how ourgovernment is run as well as paths to improvement. Icurrently serve on the Charter Review AdvisoryCommission, Building Standards & Appeals Board, andMaumee Indoor Theater Advisory Board. I have alsopreviously worked as a Maumee High School MarchingPride and Indoor Drumline instructor (15 years). Finally,I am a committed Maumee resident who is invested inhelping Maumee grow and progress in a direction thatbenefits all residents now and long into the future.I believe that City Council members' most importantresponsibility is ensuring residents receive the services theyneed to live their lives with as few encumbrances aspossible. People's desires change over time as do theoptions for satisfying those desires, so making wisedecisions is essential work for Council members. Duringmy 30 year career in engineering/consulting, I have beenresponsible for providing solutions for clients' needs. Ihave done so by (1) listening How is the need described?;(2) asking questions - Clarify the need. Understand thecurrent service delivery process; (3) obtaining data Howdoes the current process perform?; (4) developingalternatives What can be improved? How can it beimplemented? How much will it cost?; (5) recommendingsolution Involve teams to determine the best alternativefor implementation. I have used these skills in serving mychurch as a Trustee for many years and I will also use themto serve the residents of Maumee.I feel that all of my experiences in my life thus farhave built upon each other to make me who I am andshape my viewpoint today. All past thoughts, actionsand emotions drove me to the decision that the bestway to make change on a larger level is throughpolicy/legislation. I have experience running ahousehold and raising two children along with startingand running my own business. More specifically, myexperiences working with the City of Maumee andattending City Council meetings along with goingthrough the process of getting topics on the agendafor consideration/vote has directly prepared me forthe position I am seeking and its responsibilities. What do you think are tto improving educationyou intend to aWhat are your highest priorities when you are elected, and how will you accomplish them?1. Economic Development - Maumee must attractand retain businesses in an effort to expand our taxbase through income taxes. This will enable us tofund more services and hire more personnel toprovide those services that Maumee residents havecome to expect. Making Maumee businessfriendly has already accomplished this and I planto support keeping this process easy for business.2. Master Plan/Uptown Revitalization - Maumeeleadership has a responsibility to have a plan forthe future success of the whole city and this muststart with a master plan. This process is not onethat be done overnight and change is not easilyaccepted but I am confident that we are heading inthe right direction through altered traffic patterns, zoning changes (including DORA), and a safer andmore attractive uptown and city as a whole. 3.Transparency/Information - Making public accessto the functions of the city easier through ourwebsite, Facebook page and local newspaper.Information is power. My highest priority if elected will be to improve thechannels of communication within Maumee. Without areliable flow of information between the city and itsresidents, we are forever fighting an uphill battle whereincomplete pieces of information are filled in withassumptions or half truths. My plan is to buildaccountability into information sharing on the part of thecity and government that creates predictability for theresidents so that when changes, updates, or newsworthyevents occur, residents will know exactly how and whereto get accurate information. We already have multipletools at the city's hands for the dissemination ofinformation, including a city website, a Facebook page, aquarterly newsletter, a city newspaper, and a newlyimplemented text alert system. By utilizing these tools tobuild and share a communication cadence, all residentswill know precisely where they can look to find anyanswers they may desire. Two major initiatives are underway in Maumee: UptownRevitalization and Sewer System Upgrade. Both are multiyear efforts that require sound planning andimplementation oversight. As a member of Council, Iwould expect to serve on the committees that areresponsible for these projects. I will use my skills to ensurethese projects are following a detailed plan and, ifnecessary, to suggest adjustments to the plan based on realworld conditions. I would engage other Council members, the Mayor and the City Administrator in seeking to adoptany recommendations that emerge from committeedeliberations. Our city's issues with pumping raw sewage into theMaumee River and our sewers needing upgraded andfixed. The City is going through the process of gettingthe sewer problem planned and fixed but I plan toensure that this project is at the forefront of thebudget and concerns of everyone until it is fixed. OurMaster Plan needs updated (last one was 1975). Ihave been trying to get the city to get the Master Planupdated for the past 3 years and so I will continue topush for this at a better seat at the table. We have aMaster Plan Committee formed and the project hasbeen budgeted but now we need an RFP/RFQpublished so that we can start the project. The cityneeds better communication with it's residents. I willcontinue to push for better communication andsuggest that each council member takes turns toaddress any concerns brought up by citizens at publicmeetings. I will also make sure communications areput out by the city and might start my owncommunication with residents.

I wasthe president of Springfield Township Firefightersunion for three years. I have been a board member ofWaterside Monclova HOA, for the last 11years. I waspresident of the HOA ae, we have 602 homes withabout 1,ooo residents. I was President of the studentbody in college. I have always been interested inpolitics and involved in the politics where , I wouldand liveWhat do you think are the biggest challengesto improving educational outcomes? How doyou intend to address them?I have valuable team building, communication, and projectdevelopment skills. Over my tenure, as a Board member ofthe JEDZ, and through working with the LCTA I havelearned to work effectively and efficiently using thestrength of township government. I have been a resident ofMonclova Township since 1994 and have had the pleasureof living in a more rural neighborhood on Albon Road andmore recently returned to subdivision living. The decisionto run for re-election was made after speaking withresidents, county partners, fellow elected officials andfamily, where it became clear my qualifications were stillvery needed in township leadership. Looking to the future, residents can expect a strong voice for theirneighborhoods, their safety and their tax dollars. With mymanagement skills, the growth of the township will includean experienced vision and the willingness to listen. Myconservative fiscal policy will ensure tax dollars are spentwisely.I've worked at Yoder Machinery for 40 years andhave acquired a wide range of business skills fromaccounting to insurance, from payroll to employeemanagement and everything in between. Besides myday job, I hold real estate and auctioneer licenses. Myhusband and I also own and manage our own rentalproperties around NW Ohio. With my businessbackground I believe I am very well qualified toserve the Monclova Community. What are your highest priorities when you are elected, and how will you accomplish them?I would like to see more economic growth inMonclova. Full time Fire/EMS , right now all of ourFire/EMS is provided by part time employees. We dohave three full time Chiefs. Right now we have oneLucas County Sheriff deputy taking care of all ofMonclova Township, which is 20 square miles. Iwould like to see Monclova Township have our ownPolice department. We need to have better safetyservice for the residents of Monclova Township. As Trustee, I fight for the needs of residents. Prioritiesinclude zoning, safety and fiscal responsibility. I believein zoning that is business friendly yet protectsneighborhoods as well as the rural nature of Monclova.During my tenure as trustee an updated zoning resolutionwas created. Currently the township is updating the landuse plan. Additionally, safety services are a priority with astrong contract with the Lucas County Sheriff and adedicated fire department. The approach is always fiscalresponsibility. I have grown our JEDD and JEDZ. A TIFFwas recently added to make sure funding resources remainstrong. I began as a Trustee with the interest to preserveMonclova Township as a great place to live, and haveserved the township's residents by listening to theirconcerns and taking action. I remain committed to makingsure the neighborhoods are represented in zoning matters, the roads are maintained and cleared, and that safety is apriority. What experiences have you had that hasprepared you to be a School Board Member?Regulating the subdivision developments in thetownship. Monclova is in the process of updatingtheir zoning resolutions. Growth needs to be donesmartly and deliberately, not haphazardly. Thetownship needs to have interaction with the JEDD(Joint Economic Development District) and JEDZ(Joint Economic Development Zones) on tax dollarsthat have collected. Monclova is also expecting toacquire a large amount of money from the federalgovernment (American Rescue Program) whichneeds to be put toward the best possible useaccording to the guidelines allow. I'm committed toconservative principles: limited government, lowertaxes, and personal responsibility. When elected, myfocus will be on spending our tax dollars wisely andconcentrating on the ascribed duties of a trustee:maintaining township roads and cemeteries, providing a safe environment to our residents byoffering an outstanding fire/EMS department, andpatrolling our roads with police protection. What do you think are the biggestchallenges to improving educationaloutcomes?
