Today iscalled "Divine Mercy Sunday" and its celebration concludes theoctave of Easter. Not only does it serve as the eighth day, butit also includes a gospel that refers to an event on the firstoctave day of the resurrection that is very much represented inthe image of Divine Mercy. Speaking about Mercy Sunday:Jesus told Saint Sr. Faustina that this Feast of Mercy would bea special day when "all the divine floodgates through whichgraces flow are opened.” (Diary 699). Everyone is invited at3:00 p.m. to the Mercy Hour at St. Clare for prayer, adoration, chaplet, and reflection. Confessions are at 2 pm.OrdinationOn Saturday morning, Fr. Tom and I travelled to Sacred HeartMajor Seminary to partake in the ordination of Chris Muer tothe transitional diaconate. Together with Chris there were threeother men ordained that day. Please plan to join us on May 5 for dinner andfriendship with H.A.R.T.Mike McDevitt I Christian Service Coordinator313-647-5025STEWARDSHIP THOUGHTS Second Sunday of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday)The theme of faith connects today’s Scripture passages. In St. Peter’sFirst Letter, he encourages the Christian community in Asia Minor topersevere in faith, even through trials. In St. John’s Gospel, Thomas, after Jesus reveals the marks of crucifixion, acknowledges Him as MyLord and my God. Jesus admonishes him, proclaiming, Blessed arethose who have not seen and have believed. God, in unity with Christand the Holy Spirit, initiates this powerful gift of faith by pouring graceupon us. While we have free will, and can accept or reject faith,Christian stewards acknowledge and embrace this awesome gift like the early Christians described in the Acts of the Apostles. Then, in aspirit of evangelization, we share our joy in faith with everyone we meet. Join a Catholic evangelization group to make disciples of allnations (Matthew 28:19).ˣ ɠɠɠʳǣǼOĶ NjsŎʳŸNj¶ OsEŸŸĨʳOŸŎˀǣǼOĶ NjsŎ
