2018November NewsletterWORSHIP IN NOVEMBERNov 4Hurricane MichaelWhile the October 10 landfall may be distantin our minds, the category 4 storm was thestrongest to hit the continental U.S.A. since2004 and many of our neighbors are stillstruggling to recover. The news of how theareas most affected are still dealing with theaftermath seems to have become buried inthe debris left in Michael's wake. The loss ofthings we often take for granted still presenta daily hurdle for many: complete loss ofhomes, jobs, and possessions; no access tobasic necessities and health care; no school;farmers' crops lost; the local economy inshambles; a lack of everyday resources andservices that were so readily available before. Victims are still hurting and strugglingto rebuild or reinvent their lives. So, as wesavor the wonder of the turning leaves, as weenjoy the myriad of fall activities and celebrations, as we busy our lives planning for theupcoming holiday gatherings and festivities,as we prepare for a season of giving and ringing in the new year, and as we debate beforeour November elections, let's give thanks andremember our brothers and sisters in need.Edie Stone is working to assist HurricaneMichael recovery efforts now and through theholiday season. Please reach out to her if youwould like to help in any way.Becoming Christian #8: Everyday Saints(All Saints Day)Colossians 4.7-18We will remember by name each member ofour church family who has passed awaysince last November 5. Lamplighters: Women on MissionThursday, November 8 at 10:15 a.m.Meet at church to carpool to Windsor LodgeOn a chilly autumn afternoon an old rivalrywas renewed. For years the Baptist and theMethodist Youth have been gathering on thegridiron to tussle for supremacy. It has, however, been an exercise in dominance from the Baptist. No one remembers, or at least will admit to, losingto the Methodist. This year's contest held true to form. TheBaptist scored on their first possession, and thenraced to a 40 - 14 victory. The Most ValuablePlayer was actually a family. The Powells showedtheir athletic prowess with Scott and Madisonboth intercepting passes and returning them fortouchdowns, while Mason engineered two scoringdrives as quarterback. At the end of the day, though, the scoreboardwas wiped clean, each side gathered and shookhands, and we all remembered that it is morethan a game we play. It is not about winning orlosing, but the friends you make along the way. And, that is why we do Youth group in the firstplace.ChristianInterim Youth Ministerkchristianburton@gmail.com706-253-5031All ladies are invited to join us for a tour of the facilityand visit with Mary Smith, Janis Stancil, and ElizaCagle.
