2ADMIN AWARDS — DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNALa letter From the FounderCore24 has long believed that an awards programrecognizing administrative assistants in Dallas waslong overdue. So in 2012, we created one – and thereception was truly overwhelming. We quickly learnedthat people absolutely love their admins! So we did it again in 2013, and then decided thatTarrant County admins deserve recognition too! So welaunched The Fort Worth Admin Awards, which resultedin unprecedented nominations and attendance at aninaugural event. Here we are again, with more than 500 nominationsin support of Dallas area administrative professionals –and we are proving once again, louder than ever, thatthere is certainly no shortage of appreciation for thisincredibly talented community of professionals. The Admin Awards is the first program of its kind inthe United States to publicly honor the invaluablecontributions of administrative professionals and weare proud to say it began right here in Dallas – especiallyas we roll this important program out nationally. Each year, The Admin Awards appoints anindependent board of 10 judges to evaluatenominations and carefully select finalists and winnerswho they believe best meet the criteria in nine awardcategories. Comprised of executives and executiveassistants, the judges reached one consensus early on:competition was fierce and nomination after nominationsucceeded to inspire, impress and enlighten them to allthat administrative professionals are – and do.The Admin Awards would simply not be possiblewithout the support of our sponsors – from ourpresenting sponsor, Delta Dallas, to those companiesthat supported their finalists with a table sponsorshipand everyone in between; these companies trulyunderstand the importance of a recognition programfor administrative professionals and the massiveimpact that recognition and appreciation can have onadmins’ spirits. We continue to be incredibly thankful for ColleenBarrett’s support as she passionately presents TheAdmin Awards’ most prestigious award, The ColleenBarrett Award for Administrative Excellence. As mostpeople know, Colleen began her career as HerbKelleher’s secretary and over the course of fourdecades, she went on to become President and COOof Southwest Airlines, demonstrating for every adminthat the sky truly is the limit for those who reach for it.This year’s Admin Awards was carefully guided byan important group of administrative professionals, better known as the 2014 Dallas Admin AwardsAdvisory Board. Their guidance, wisdom, candor andcommitment contributed to the success of this year’sprogram in countless ways – and helped us avoidcountless missteps.Among all this excitement, there’s one piece ofimportant feedback we received this past year from anadmin who attended the nominees’ cocktail reception. She wrote, “I attended the cocktail party proud to be anominee. I left proud to be an admin.”And for us, it just doesn’t get better than that.2014 Board oF JudgesCOLLEEN BARRETT, President Emeritus, Southwest AirlinesMONICA BRADY, Executive Staff Assistant to VP of Customer Insights and Corporate Initiatives, JCPenneyMARSHA CAMERON, Partner, Paradox Compensation AdvisorsERNIE COTE, CEO, ChemicalInfoRUTH FARRAR, Partner, SenderoLISA HALL, Executive Assistant to SVP of Global Intelligence, Hunt Consolidated, Inc.LAURIE MAGERS, Executive Assistant to Zig Ziglar, Ziglar, Inc.AMY MALLOUF, VP of Human Resources, Teltech Communications, LLCBRANDON RAY, Executive Assistant, Brinker Internationaland 2013 Winner of The Colleen Barrett Award for Administrative ExcellenceDAWN TONGISH, Journalistthank You to our advisorY BoardAMY AVILA-GARRETT, WorldVenturesSUZANNE BENINATE, Aon HewittCAITLIN CASH, KFC/Pizza HutPATRICIA ESTRADA, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLPANISSA HALL, KFCBARBARA MILO, Hall Financial GroupSARAH NGONG, Genghis Grill Corporate OfficeTONI PERRIER, TravisWolffCHERYL PORTILLO, Ryan, LLCBRANDON RAY, Brinker InternationalKRISTIN SCHOR, Gaedeke Group, LLCTIFFANY SIMMONS, PepsiCoMOLLY SMITH, Trintechthank You to our event partnersThis event would not have been possible without our event partners who have donated countless resources of time, energy and passion to help makeThe Admin Awards a success.TM
