Cable Grips - Digi-Key

Cable GripsCable Grips secure cables to control cabinetsor junction boxes – providing strain reliefand protection from the elements. They aremade of metal (nickel plated brass) or plastic(nylon). Advantages exist for both types ofcable grip with the nylon versions becomingmore popular since they can provide the samelevel of protection against dust, debris andwater as the metallic versions – for lesscost and weight. Cable Grips are specifiedfirst by the cable diameter and second bythread type.Cable Grips are available in three differentthread types, PG (Panzer Gewinde, a Germanspecified thread widely used in Europe),Metric and NPT (National Pipe Thread – usedin USA). This is useful since most specifiersthread the cabinet holes so that the cablegrip can be screwed into it for a moresecure fit. Others simply knockout a holeand place the cable grip inside it.Our Cable Grips areapproved by UL and Lloydsof London and are rated IP68, the highest IngressProtection available.Ingress Protection consistsof two numbers – the firstbetween 0 and 6, indicatingthe resistance to particlesand the second between 0and 8, indicating resistanceto water.
