General Site RegulationsParticipants and visitors must respect the authority of both the Eastern States staff and the show officials. Failureto do so will result in ejection from the show grounds and/or an Event Committee Hearing. Participants and visitorsmust abide by posted signs on the grounds. Certain areas will be marked, Please Do Not Allow Animals on Grassand must be respected.Show buildings are designated as NO SMOKING areas. The West Springfield Fire Department will enforce theregulation, please cooperate. Enforcement of Handicapped Parking Laws will also be strictly enforced. Do no park indesignated handicapped areas without appropriate tags.Eastern States Exposition retains all food concessions, beverage and catering rights on the show grounds. Cateringof beverage and/or food service for groups is not permitted unless such beverage and food is arranged for and providedby Eastern States Catering Services. This does not preclude individuals from providing their own beverages and food.A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give notice to the show superintendent/show secretary prior to judging.AKC approval is not required.The entire entry in a breed is to be examined in the same manner (ground, table, or ramp).At the discretion of the judge, the following breeds may be judged on the ground or on a ramp through all levelsof competition including Group and Best in Show judging: Lagotti Romagnoli, American Water Spaniels, ClumberSpaniels, English Springer Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Cirnechi dell'Etna, AmericanStaffordshire Terriers, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers,Finnish Spitz, Keeshonden, Entlebucher Mountain Dogs, Finnish Lapphunds, Norwegian Buhunds, Polish LowlandSheepdogs, Spanish Water Dogs, and Norrbottenspets (Misc.).At the discretion of the judge through all levels of competition including Group and Best in Show judging, thefollowing breeds may be judged on the ground, a ramp, or on a table: Boykin Spaniels and Whippets.The following breeds must be judged on a ramp through all levels of conformation competition: Sussex Spaniels,Basset Hounds, Bulldogs, Chinese Shar-Pei and Chow Chows. This extends to all conformation competition at AKCconformation dog shows and any AKC event where a conformation title may be earned. This policy includes Group,BIS, Junior Showmanship, the 4–6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition, the AKC National Owner-Handled Series(NOHS), and all other special attractions that offer Group and BIS competitions.Ramps can be used in emergency situations to judge any breed. In an emergency situation, where use of a rampis not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund.For the judging of juniors the ramp may be used at the discretion of the judge for the ramp optional breeds.The Clubs and their Superintendent caution all persons entering the show site and show grounds against all hazardswhich may exist, including, but not limited to: Condition of the site/grounds, parking/loading/unloading areas, entrances,floors and stairways, elevators and escalators, floor coverings, walkways, tenting/canopies, electrical appliances, cordsand fittings, exercise pens, and the presence of animals. All persons should take into consideration this is a sportingevent and dress, act and exercise caution appropriate for the activity involved. Best Veteran in Show CompetitionFridayThere will be a class offered for Veteran Dogs and a class for Veteran Bitches who are 7 years or overin all breeds/varieties with a selection of Best Veteran in each breed/variety following the judging ofBest of Breed for that Breed/Variety. Spayed or neutered veterans are eligible to compete. Veteransare not eligible for Best of Breed/Variety Competition. AKC National Owner-Handled SeriesSaturday & Sunday(Remember to check the box near the bottom of the entry form)The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their ownersthat are not professional handlers.Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry on the entry form. Dogs enteredin the Amateur-Owner-Handler class will automatically be marked as eligible to compete in the NOHS. Eligibledogs will be identified by an asterisk in the judge's book, steward's book & the catalog. Dogs must be handledthroughout the breed level competition for the regular show by an eligible owner. Professional handlers*,household members and current assistants** to professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in anyNOHS competition during the entire show.Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breedcompetition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and winners of the non-regular classes. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is Owner-Handled competition eligible, it will automatically be OwnerHandled Best of Breed/Variety and be eligible to compete in both the regular as well as the Owner-HandledGroup.
