They are DorisChesser for Meritorious Service, Paul Coover for Superior Performance and Lew Harris, posthumously, in the Legends category.Houston, Dec. 8, 2010.Induction ceremonies will be held at a dinner in their honor on Saturday, February 5,2011 at the Monument Inn, 4406 Battleground Road, LaPorte, Texas. Tickets for thisprestigious affair will be available after the first of the year at Houston bowling centers,the GHUSBC office and from Houston Bowling Hall of Fame members at a cost of 25.00 per person.It is the goal of the Greater Houston USBC Association to provide you with more up-to-date information about the Houston bowling community by printing this newsletter monthly. In order to do this, weare asking that you help us by e-mailing noteworthy accomplishments at your bowling center. This caninclude unusual spare pick-ups, such as the l-7-10, the 5-7-10, 7-8-9, etc. Things such as a triplicate112 when the bowler’s average is 112, human interest stories, jokes, bowling cartoons, or anything youfeel is worth mentioning. Trafficheavier than usual. Upon arriving at the bowling center I spoke with several fellow bowlers and soon it wastime for practice. Of course, after practice it was timeto begin the night’s bowling.I had trouble finding the right spot.had spares andopens the first game for a whopping 160. Well, thathad to improve for two reasons; first, we lost the firstgame and second, I was bowling against my daughterand I had told her we were going to kick their .well,you know. Now since I wasn’t proud of my score thefirst game, I changed my delivery a little and startedthe second game with a string of strikes.but I knewthe string would stop soon enough, it usually does. Butthis night I just kept on rolling and I kept on striking.I stepped on the approach at the beginning of the 10thframe and concentrated on one thought, that I neededthis strike to win. The THSBC was created in 2001 by theTexas Bowling Centers Association (TBCA) to provideleadership and guidance to public and private schoolbowling clubs. The objective of the THSBC is to providean opportunity to high school students to represent theirschool and community in the sport of bowling.The Bowler’s Ed In-School Program was developedto introduce the sport of bowling to students as apart of their physical education class. The teacher’scurriculum was designed for students in grades K-8.Copperfield Bowl currently has 20 lane kits available for schools in the Cy-Fair Independent SchoolDistrict. Presently, 34 elementary schools are parTryouts began in October with each school in the club ticipating in the In-School Bowlers Ed Program durfilling up 4 divisions (if possible): Varsity Boys, Varsity ing this 2010-11 school year.Girls, Junior Varsity Boys & Junior Varsity Girls. Depending on gym size, many schools reserveas many as 12 lanes worth of equipment. A freegame pass is distributed to each student participatingin the program at the conclusion of the bowling program.
