Director's NoteBRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS is not the type of play one normally associates with Neil Simon. It was his first attempt to merge his familiarcomedic style with drama. He looked to his childhood for inspiration and he found it in the working class neighborhood of 1937 BrightonBeach, Brooklyn, New York. It was an attempt that I think you will find successful and one that was continued in the other two autobiographicalplays of the "Brighton Beach Trilogy", BILOXI BWES and BROADWAY BOUND. and in his current Broadway hit LOST IN YONKERS. Sit backand prepare to laugh and cry, while enjoying what I consider to be an evening of theatre that is a complete package of entertainment.Scene SynopsisACT IBrighton Beach, Brocklyn, New YorkSeptember, 1937-6:30 p.m.ACT IIWednesday, a week later.About 6:45 in the evening.
