Intelliremote User Manualwww.intelliremote.comOverviewIntelliremote is a software program that gives you complete control of your Home Theater PCremote and unlocks its true potential. HTPC makers have an excellent idea bundling an infraredor RF remote control with their product.it's just too bad the software included doesn't doeverything you want your remote to do!The purpose of this program is simple: to remove any need for any custom software to controlyour remote, and implement and extend the full functionality of your HTPC remote in a memoryefficient manner. Have you ever wanted a remote button to do one function in one applicationand a completely different function in another application? Now you can! Many flavors of HTPCremote are supported so please check the supported remotes section to see if the remote youown is supported.Have you tried Girder, HIP, EventGhost or any of the other remote applications and gottenfrustrated with how complicated they were to setup and use? Intelliremote take the approachof “keep it simple and stupid” to make using and customizing your remote as easy and painlessas possible. Intelliremote aims to provide an experience similar to owning Apple hardware, SonyTVs and luxury German cars; things just work, they feel right and every now and again you getthat "oh, it does that too? Awesome!" feeling.Intelliremote packs the punch of Microsoft's Intellitype instructions. So any application can becontrolled with the IR remote that "listens" for Intellitype messages. Extends the power of theremote control to any application that supports Intellitype commands such as Winamp, ITunes,PowerDVD, PowerPoint, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center Edition, MediaPortal,SesamTV, Foobar2000, BSPlayer, VLC, GOM Player, GBPVR, BeyondTV, MyThreatre, MediaPlayer Classic, DVBViewer, Zoomplayer, SilverJuke, MediaMonkey, JRiver MC, and many more! Each remote key can be assigned to an instruction, a mouse event, or even start up your favoriteapplication.Intelliremote User ManualPage 41/16/2017

Intelliremote User n is simple just follow these instructions:1. Download the Intelliremote.zip file from http://melloware.com/2. Extract the contents of the ZIP file to a temp directory.3. Execute the Intelliremote.exe file inside the zip file which will run the installer and installIntelliremote.4. Installation complete!Testing InstallationTesting your installation to see if Intelliremote is working properly is quite simple if you followthese steps.1. Start Intelliremote by going to Start- Programs- Intelliremote. You will now seeIntelliremote icon running in your tray.2. Open Windows Notepad by navigating to Start- Programs- Accessories- Notepad.3. With Notepad window in focus, point your remote at the receiver and press the 1 keyon the remote. You should see the tray icon “blink” and the number “1” should beoutput in Notepad. The Intelliremote Tray icon is awaiting remote signals in the tray.A remote command received SUCCESSFULLY!If you do NOT see your tray icon “blink” then the most likely cause is that your driver is notinstalled properly or your hardware is not supported. If you own a different HID remote such asa Gyration, Philips, Dvico, or Terratec remote there may be a custom profile for your remoteincluded with Intelliremote that has the custom HID remote codes to work with Intelliremote.Windows Vista/7/8/10One of the new features of Windows Vista is User Account Control or UAC. User AccountControl or UAC is a new feature in Vista that asks for permission to do system software tasksand also run programs. Unfortunately, this security feature is also annoying.Intelliremote users of Vista, especially Vista Home who are not administrators of their machinewill receive the annoying "Are you sure you want to allow this program to continue" dialog fromVista.WARNING: Changing UAC or disabling it can leave your system vulnerable to malicious software. Please understand all the implications before making the changes.Intelliremote User ManualPage 101/16/2017

Intelliremote User Manualwww.intelliremote.comProblem: Intelliremote needs to edit some HKLM registry entries which has user restrictions onthe use of this part of the registry.Solution 1:Give yourself FULL Administrative privileges to your account and you will not see this message.Solution 2:Right click on the intelliremote.exe or Shortcut and in Properties and choose "Run AsAdministrator".Solution 3:I cannot predict the future of your system or what kind of security vulnerabilities will be used toattack systems, and as such, you need to decide for yourself if you desire to keep UAC active, but if you wish to disable it, here is how I do it:a.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.i.j.k.With the default Category Control Panel Head to StartSelect Control PanelSelect System and MaintenanceSelect Administrative ToolsSelect the System Configuration buttonSelect the Continue button (if UAC is active)Select the Tools TabSelect "Disable UAC"Select the Launch buttonSelect the Ok button to close the panelYou will have to reboot for the setting to take effect.Solution 4:You can also use the policy editor. Open the Administrative Tools- Local Security Policy andbrowse to Security Settings- Local Policies- Security Options' and the User Account Protectionoptions. Specify all processes run elevated without prompting.Intelliremote User ManualPage 111/16/2017

Intelliremote User Manualwww.intelliremote.comRemotesThe section below outlines details that may be important about specific remotes.X10 RemotesX10 come in 2 flavors, one that is MCE based and works just like all other MCE remotes andanother that is driver based like the ATI Remote Wonder which requires the x10net.dll. Makesure you know which X10 type remote you have, if you have a normal MCE based USB remoteyou can use any of the profiles. However if you have an ATI Remote Wonder or driver basedX10 remote make sure you use the atiremotewonder.xml profile or make a copy of it because itworks slightly differently than the other profiles do.NOTE: Some X10 remotes like the OR22Z and NVidia Cinema Remote install a Control Panelapplication called “Remote”. You need to go into that Control Panel application and disabledefault behavior else you will see conflicts with Intelliremote and the Control Panel applicationboth sending signals.Bluetooth RemotesThere are a few Bluetooth remotes such as the Tivo Slide, Nintendo Wii Remote, and SonyPlaystation 3 remote which can be paired with your PC if your PC supports Bluetooth.Tivo Slide Remote PairingTo pair your Tivo Slide remote with your PC to use with Intelliremote just follow theseinstructions:1. Make sure you have a Bluetooth adapter for your PC.2. Go to Control Panel Bluetooth Devices and click "Add" a new Bluetooth Device3. Follow these instructions: http://support.tivo.com/app/answers/detail/a id/1788 On theTiVo Slide remote, press and hold the TiVo button and the blue "B" button simultaneouslyuntil the activity indicator light blinks blue.4. Check the box next to "My device is set up and ready to be found", then "Next"5. Click on "Tivo Slide Remote Control", and then click "Next"6. Select "Don't use a passkey", and then click "Next".Important: If you are having trouble with your Tivo Slide "going to sleep" or trouble wakingyour Tivo Slide up it is an issue with the USB Dongle that comes with the Tivo Slide. Many usershave had better luck with the Azio BTD-V201 or Logitech Bluetooth Dongle and all of theirissues went away.Nintendo Wii Remote PairingTo pair your Wii remote with your PC to use with Intelliremote just follow these instructions:1. Make sure you have a Bluetooth adapter for your PC.2. Go to Control Panel Bluetooth Devices and click "Add" a new Bluetooth Device3. Hold down 1 2 on the Wii remote to begin the syncing process.Intelliremote User ManualPage 121/16/2017

Intelliremote User Manualwww.intelliremote.com4. Check the box next to "My device is set up and ready to be found", then "Next"5. Click on "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01", and then click "Next"6. Select "Don't use a passkey", and then click "Next". You may need to hold down 1 2 on theWii remote again here. If you're successful, three LEDs will be flashing on the Wii remote.Sony Playstation 3 Remote PairingTo pair your PS3 remote with your PC to use with Intelliremote just follow these instructions:1.2.3.4.5.6.Make sure you have a Bluetooth adapter for your PC.Go to Control Panel Bluetooth Devices and click "Add" a new Bluetooth DeviceHold down START ENTER keys on the PS3 remote to begin the syncing process.Check the box next to "My device is set up and ready to be found", then "Next"Click on "BD Remote Control", and then click "Next"Select "Don't use a passkey", and then click "Next".Important: Since the Bluetooth protocol is very chatty it can drain battery life of your PS3remote while connected. We recommend rechargeable batteries for your PS3 Remote or youcan choose to disconnect it while not in use. To disconnect it while not in use just press andhold the PS key on your remote for about 6 seconds and it will disconnect the remote from thePC.Intelliremote User ManualPage 131/16/2017

Intelliremote User Manualwww.intelliremote.comMediaCenter Edition (MCE) RemotesThe following sections only apply if you are using Intelliremote with a Microsoft MCE Remote orone of its clones. If you own a Microsoft MCE Remote of any kind, you might want to performthe following actions to make the remote work properly with Intelliremote.MCE Clone RemotesIf you own a clone remote such as the Speedlink, Gyration, or Hama MCE Remote they do notsend the same codes as most of the other MCE clone remotes. You can edit an XML profile andchange the HIDSignal /HIDSignal section of the profile to have your correct codes or you canlook in the USER HOME/AppData/Roaming/Intelliremote/Extras/ directory to see if there is acustom profile for your remote. Most likely it would be named Speedlink.xml, gyration.xml,hauppage.xml etc.Philips SRM 7500 RemoteThe Philips SRM 7500 installs a Windows Service called LmOneWayService which also controlsthe remote. If you want Intelliremote to completely control this remote you must go intoControl Panel- Admin- Services and DISABLE the LmOneWayService. By disabling itIntelliremote will be in complete control of your remote.XBOX360 RemoteIf you own an XBOX360 remote and you have the Microsoft eHome IR USB Dongle you can useyour XBOX360 remote just like any other MCE Remote. The XBOX 360 remote Id channel is 8and vista comes with channels 1 thru 4 enabled by default. All you have to do to get it working isthe following:1. So open regedit and change the following keyHKEY LOCAL motes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da by looking for CodeSetNum0 andchange the value to 8 (the xbox 360 remote id)2. Delete the other three entries which are : CodeSetNum1, CodeSetNum2,CodeSetNum33. Reboot your machine. For more detailed instructions see this excellent article: Using Xbox 360 IR remote with VistaMedia CenterWhy are two commands being executed when I press a button? If you are seeing two commands executed when you press a button on your MCE Remote, it isbecause the default Microsoft driver for the eHome IR Transceiver actually interprets many ofthe remote button commands for you, you may see a default action take place, and then yourlisted Intelliremote action. For example the “Volume Up” key sends a volume up command byIntelliremote User ManualPage 141/16/2017

Intelliremote User Manualwww.intelliremote.comdefault from the Microsoft driver. If you have the “Volume Up” remote button set inIntelliremote to send a letter “A”, you will see in Notepad an “A” printed out when you press the“Volume Up” remote button but the volume is still increased. This is because Microsoft issending the “Volume Up” and Intelliremote is sending the “A”. To disable this behavior followthe section below:Windows Vista/7/8 MCE Remote “Double” Button Push BehaviorStarting with Intelliremote 2.7.6 and above a new Windows Service called “Intelliservice” isinstalled. Intelliservice runs at the admin privilege level to get the MCE Remote commands andpasses them onto Intelliremote. It also by default disables the “double button push” behaviorby deleting the appropriate registry keys and disabling the proper Windows HID Services. If youdecide you do not want to use Intelliremote the Uninstall program restores your system back tooriginal state and returns the registry back to original state. Make sure to REBOOT afterinstalling Intelliremote for the first time!Windows XP Disable “Double” Button Push BehaviorIf you want to let Intelliremote take COMPLETE control of your MCE Remote and have no doublebutton pushes do the following.Step 1Load "regedit.exe" and navigate to:HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic daThen delete the keys from "CodeSetNum0" to "CodeSetNum3".To make sure you can recover these keys easily should you want to you should save them byusing the export function in the file menu.Once you have completed editing the registry, you will need to reboot for the change to takeeffect. This same process can be applied to disable automatic keyboard handling. Just look at the otherregistry sections under the "Remotes" sections.Step 2Go to Control Panel- Aministration- ServicesDISABLE the HID Input Service on XP or the Human Interface Device Access service in ControlPanel- Admin- Services.Intelliremote User ManualPage 151/16/2017

Intelliremote User Manualwww.intelliremote.comStep 3Disable Green Button launching MCE. Go into c:\windows\ehome and renaming ehtray.exe tosomething else (first you have to take ownership of the file using Properties- Security Advanced) that it will not load and media center will not launch automatically. Media centerwill still work when launched manually.Intelliphone Mobile Client for iOS/Android PlatformsIf you have a cool iOS/Android device and want to use it to control your home theatre PC nowyou can with the Intelliremote client application for mobile platforms called Intelliphone.Intelliremote can be downloaded through the AppStore/Android Market and is a nativeapplication written from scratch to work hand in hand with the Intelliremote running on yourWindows PC. One of the limitation of infrared remotes is you need line-of-sight to control yourPC, but with Intelliphone you just need a network connection! To get started with the Intelliphone you need to take the following steps.1. Download Intelliremote Client from AppStore/And
