06 OPERATOR ENVIRONMENTComfort is built in to increase productivity.Comfortable operators can work longer hours with less fatigue. The New Holland 200 Series breaks new ground with industryleading dimensions, options, and ease of operation. Your view is clear in all directions—even to the raised bucket or attachment thanksto the visibility panel on the cab roof. Switches and gauges are right in front of you and easy to use from the comfort of your seat.Warning lights with alarm include engine coolant temperature, engine oil pressure, air cleaner restriction, hydraulic filter restrictionand hydraulic oil temperature. Other standard features include a dome light, a backup and horn alarm package, tail lights, halogenwork lights (including two in front and two in back), pre-wiring for a rotating beacon and 4-point strobe or rear side lights. On modelsC234 and C237, steel front work lights with side lamps for extra visibility during nighttime operation.Easy entry and exitIt’s easy to enter and exit 200 Series loaders because thethreshold is low, the step area by the foot pedals is flat, andgrab handles are positioned for convenient use when getting inand out. The cab is one of the widest in the industry, and ampleleg room and foot room adds to operator comfort.

07Comfortable, clean, and quietChoose the fully sealed and pressurized enclosed cab tominimize dust and exhaust infiltration. It’s quiet too, with fullcovering trim that absorbs noise. A heater/defroster kit andoptional air conditioning allow you to control the climate in anyweather. Another option is side windows that are easy to removeand clean. A demolition door is available in lieu of a glass doorfor rugged working conditions. Even more options are availableto customize the comfort of your operating environmentand increase productivity, including turn signals, radio withspeakers, a block heater, self-leveling, hydraulic coupler,high-flow hydraulics and enhanced high-flow hydraulics.Seat and controls to match your preferenceAll 200 Series loaders offer a selection of seats, with optional suspension seats or the heated, composite air-ride seat for maximumsupport and ultimate comfort. An optional, factory-installed lap bar, is now offered on all skid steers and compact track loadermodels. Our ergonomically designed joysticks put all controls right at your fingertips. Mechanical controls are standard withelectro-hydraulic switchable (ISO-H pattern) controls optional on all models. 200 Series skid steers and compact track loadersbuilt with EH (electro-hydraulic) controls feature multiple speed and sensitivity settings. This allows operators to personalizethe controls depending on their preferences. 08 ENGINESHard work and demanding conditions?Bring it on!New Holland 200 Series skid steers and compact track loaders are reliable workhorses that stand up to any challenge you face.Responsive hydraulicsYou can expect fast cycle times from the reliable hydraulicsystem. The in-line hydraulic pumps produce less noise andprovide extra-smooth operation. Add the optional high-flowhydraulics on the L218, L220, L221, L228, L234, C227, C232,C234, C237 and C238 to run attachments hour after hour. TheSpring Applied Hydraulic Release (SAHR) parking brake can bereleased or applied by the press of a button and is automaticallyapplied when the machine is shut off or when the operatorleaves the seat.Fast travelThe 200 Series dual-range transmission can provide travelspeeds in excess of 11 mph (8 mph on CTLs) to save time onand between job sites. It is standard on the L220, L221, L228,L234 and all CTLs.FPT F5 Engines(L221, L228, L234, C227, C232, C234, C237, C238)High performance in all conditionsThese engines stand out for their low-cost operation, extremelyeasy maintenance and excellent performance in the mostdemanding applications. They are turbocharged and featureexternally cooled EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) for efficientair handling and high engine power density with the shortestload response time. The L234, C234 and C238 use DieselOxidation Catalyst (DOC) with Selective Catalytic Reduction(SCR) using Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). All other machines usea DOC that does not require a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).This allows for easier maintenance to the machine. A stateof-the-art direct fuel injection system uses a simple, proven,mechanical, rotary pump that provides accurate fuel delivery.Operators will notice minimum noise and vibration due tothe design of the engine, including camshaft in crankcase,suspended oil pan, and balancer counterweights incorporatedin crankshaft webs. The highly integrated engine componentsmean superior leakage prevention. Examples include theintegrated Closed Crankcase Ventilation (CCV) system and thewater-oil cooler, oil and water pumps with by-pass, which areall fully integrated in the block.ISM Engines (L213, L216, L218, L220)Clean, compact and quietLow emissions and an energy-saving design make theseengines as friendly to the environment as they are to yourbudget. A high-pressure common-rail (HPCR) system usescooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) with a diesel oxidationcatalyst (DOC) (L218/L220) that doesn’t require a filter. Thisallows for easy maintenance. The combustion chamber andinjection system use fuel efficiently and deliver outstandingpower rise and torque. The compact, well-balanced engineis strong and durable. Its multi-level design also allows forsimple parts interchangeability. The rigid cylinder block,small bore dimension and multiple cylinders lead to low noiseand vibration—from idling up to maximum power—for addedoperator comfort.

09Lower emissions, added fuel savingsNew Holland’s Tier 4 Final engines not only meetextremely strict emissions requirements that curbairborne nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter(PM), they also deliver powerful performance, useless fuel and are easy to maintain to decrease youroperating costs. These new engines provide thesame power and torque as previous engines, withoutincreasing RPM, providing fuel savings of at least 4%.In addition, when you don’t use the full power of themachine, the variable flow hydraulic pumps only usethe power required leading to extra-fuel savings andreduced operating noise.

10 SERVICINGEasy-access serviceability.New Holland “gets it.” Daily service points are grouped together for easy access. And all major service points can easily be reachedby flipping the cab forward.Service made easyThe rear door and hood provide easy service access for periodic maintenance and daily checkpoints. You can access engine oil,fuel fill, hydraulic oil, coolant and radiator points without tools, and you can clean the radiator from either side. Long serviceintervals mean you spend more time working and less time in the shop for routine maintenance. Engine oil and filter changes arerequired every 500 hours as are changes to the primary fuel filters and hydraulic oil filters. Radiator drain and flush is requiredonly at 2,000 hour intervals.Simple boom lockOn all vertical lift models,you can engage the boomlock from inside the cab foradded safety when exitingthe machine with the boomup. Always use caution whenentering or exiting the cab,and always use boom lockswhen entering or exiting thecab with the loader armsraised.

11All-weather performanceA standard maintenance-free battery provides up to 1,000 coldcranking amps. The single-side battery maintenance layoutallows for quick service and fast maintenance activities. Glowplugs and a reliable starter are also standard. The heavy-dutytop and bottom oil cooler/radiator configuration provides highcooling capacity under the most extreme conditions.Unmatched accessIf ever needed, the entirecab can be tilted forward toprovide unrivaled access tocomponents and easy cabcleanout.
