After all,we have landed on the moon!We have sent the pathfinderto the Mars, Gene-mappingand cloning have become reality. Hats off to the exponential progress made in therealm of science! But if we contemplate deeplyfor a moment on the questions"have all these advancementsmade life happier and morepeaceful than before?", whatanswer do we get? A quick, unambiguous "NO!!". If wewere to assume that intellectual, cultural and scientificunderdevelopment was thereason why tribes, cavemenand men of the past foughtwith each other, how do weexplain the situation prevalenttoday? In this age, when weclaim to be at the peak ofintellectual, cultural refinement, the incidence of violence and war is on the riseglobally. We expect all thesedevelopments to nullify differences, break all walls, wipeout boundaries and take us touniversal brotherhood. On thecontrary, what is happening isan increase in the number ofcountries. More and moreboundaries are being demarcated. Countries are brokendown to form more countries.Instead of integration intoone powerful, peaceful society, we are disintegrating allthe time, in the name of race, religion and language. How can we achieve that integration? Down the ages, therehave been numerous thinkers, revolutionaries, leaders andorganizations who have workedtowards that goal and yettheir efforts have not produced sustained results because they have all tried tobring about unity throughchanges in the external worldand society. Any externaltransformation is never longlasting. So, Universal brotherhood and peace can never bebrought about by power, forceor scientific advancement. The only solution is innertransformation – a change inthe tendency of every singleperson and the only way toachieve it is through spirituality. To achieve this, we neednot change our lifestyle; weneed not go to another place;we need not renounce anything; there is no dress codeor any such formality; we cango to work; go to school andlive as usual and yet bringabout ‘UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD’. How is that possible?Indian culture is one of themost ancient cultures of theworld and it is globally acknowledged that our Scriptures and the great Rishishave accurately predicted thecourse of the world and future. Thousands of years ago, foreseeing the troubled timesahead, they have shown theremedy which is the MahaMantra found in the Kali Santarana Upanishad –“Hare RamaHare Rama Rama Rama HareHare Hare Krishna Hare KrishnaKrishna Krishna Hare Hare ”Not only do we believe in theScriptures and the greatRishis, but it has been foundthat all have experienced theinner transformation, bliss andjoy even while chanting thisMaha Mantra. Having tastedthe divine nectar called ‘HareRama ’, we wish to share thejoy with one and all, throughNama - ‘Nama Dwaar’.On this New Year’s day, we allpledge solemnly to work towards Universal peace throughthe Maha Mantra.

Eventoday we find Sadhus whohave attained the higheststate through mere chantingof the Divine Name. This isthe glory of 'Nama Kirtan' -An absolutely easy, simplepath suited to the Age ofKali. The chanting of DivineNames is a free path. It hasno ‘binding’ of rules andregulations. Namasankirtancan be done by anybody, anytime and anywhere. It involves no cost. It is a paththat requires no paraphernalia but leads one to the veryLotus Feet of the Lord. While mental repetition of theDivine Names leads to thegood of the individual, chanting the Divine Names loudlypurifies the singer, the listener (the scriptures say“Shrotrunapi punati cha”)and the very place where thechanting is done.If you want to enrol your child please contact:Chitra Sekar on 9680 4292 January 21st - Nama SankirtanVenue: Smt Meera and Sri Jagadeesh’ residence78 Betts Rd, Merrylands NSWTime: 3-5pmPhone: 9632 1889 January 26th—Nama SankirtanVenue: Sri Vishnu Siva MandirMawson, CanberraTime: 3-4:30pmFor further information please contact:Kavitha Bhaskaran on 9836 2354 / 0434 514 245/email:sydneysatsang@yahoo.comDo you Want to HostNAMA SANKIRTANOur Satsang conducts regular Nama Sankirtan at various locations around Sydney throughout the year.
