2021March 25, 2021 - Virtual State MATHCOUNTS CompetitionThe State Competition consists of the Sprint and Target Rounds and willtake place online on the Art of Problem Solving Contest Platform at 6:00pmCST on Thursday, March 25, 2021. Winning students will receive recognition and the four highest-ranked competitors from each state will representtheir state during the 2021 Raytheon Technologies National MATHCOUNTSCompetition, May 8-11.Competition ComponentsSprint Round (40 minutes)Consisting of 30 problems, this round tests accuracy, with the time periodallowing only the most capable students to complete all of the problems.Calculators are not permitted.Target Round (approximately 30 minutes)In this round 8 problems are presented to competitors in 4 pairs (6 minutesper pair). The multi-step problems featured in this round engage Mathletesin mathematical reasoning and problem-solving processes. TSPE members across the Stateof Texas have volunteered thousands of hours at the local, state, and national levels to bring you this program. TheMATHCOUNTS program ensures that students in Texas have an opportunity to expand their minds and hone their criticalthinking skills by being exposed to the MATHCOUNTS materials.TSPE is a State Society organization of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
