Friday 5th MayIpswich PGMEMorning Session09.30CPD 3 HrsCommunity Project PresentationIpswich FD SchemeEach FD Group will need to deliver a 20minute presenta on concerning theirCare Home visit and it’s outcomeDFT TPDThis session will review the Ipswich DFT Schemes involvement in our own version of the IOHOPI project –Improving the Oral Health of Older Persons Initiative.The Scheme received a briefing concerning this project in November 2016. Staff from Suffolk SalariedServices discussed their role in educating carers for older people. This session was informed by workcommissioned by Norfolk and Suffolk County Council (2014) for the Salaried Dental Services in Norfolk &Suffolk to write a Guide for care home staff about the importance of dental care. This Guide was distributedto every care home in Suffolk – the Guide can be viewed l-links/publicationsThe Scheme FDs were divided into groups of two or three. These groups produced Oral Healthcarepresentations for use in local care homes. The Salaried Services Team checked the quality of thepresentations and allocated a care home to the FD group. The FDs visited the home and educated thecarers at a visit in March 2017.The aim of this session is to support our local Salaried Services in the development of care home staff. After generalpractice and oral and maxillo-facial surgery appointments in and aroundManchester, he joined the Army and served for over 11 years in the RoyalArmy Dental Corps.During his time in the Army, Shashi completed postgraduate training withdistinction in endodontics from the Eastman Dental Institute, London. Oncompletion of this training, Shashi was responsible for teaching endodontics to Dental Officers of all levels of experience, both serving and civilian,working within the Defence Dental Services. Joining Elmsleigh House inSeptember 2010, Shashi brings a wealth of experience in both restorativeand endodontic dentistry.Aims & Objectives:Dento-alveolar trauma is extremely prevalent. The clinical presentation canbe distressing for the patient, their family and the dental team. 25th-27th MayManchester Central Convention Complex (MCCC)BDA Conference Scheme Learning ProgrammeAims & ObjectivesThe aim of attending the BDA Conference is to develop each FDs skills at selecting the most appropriateprofessional development for their own needs.Prior to the 11th May 2017 each FD will need to have thoroughly examined the Conference Programme. Theywill then need to email, to Jason Stokes, (via the ePortfolio) a Professional Development Plan for the BDAConference. This plan must include:·A reflection on their professional strengths and weaknesses·The individual learning needs they have identified·The Conference educational events they plan to attend to meet these learning needs·The anticipated Learning Outcomes following Conference attendanceIt is strongly recommended that the FD should discuss this plan with their Trainer—and indicate where theTrainer has offered advice on their future development needs.Prior to the 9th June 2017 each FD will submit a follow-up report from their visit to the BDA Conference. Thisreport will match their actual learning experiences at the Conference against their pre-Conference ProfessionalDevelopment Plan.
