Our seismic bend controlsolutions reduce this damage.Seismic Cable Handling - Seismic towed arrays are carefullydesigned to maximize survey efficiency. To enable the towed arrayto be set up correctly, it is necessary to attach various buoys,cross chains etc. To ensure the integrity of the towed array, theseconnection points must provide a secure and safe method ofattachment.Towing Attachments and Ancillaries - Seismic towed arraysundergo significant loading during operation. The towing forcesfrom the vessel combine with drag from the sea and lateral loadsfrom diverter and cross chains. Bend StiffenerProtecting seismicsurvey cablesWhere any cable or hose connects to a structure, normalmovement during operation (dynamic loading) or forcesincurred during installation and retrieval (static loading)can cause catastrophic failure of the cable or hose, atthe termination point. The failure mode can be throughcollapse, rupture of internal lines or even rupture of theexternal layers leading to escape of the contents to theenvironment. This can happen as the result of a singleevent or be caused through fatigue damage over time.Bend limiting devices are provided to protect the cableor hose from these situations and perform the followingfunctions: Maintain the manufacturers recommended minimumbend radius (MBR) during the life of the project Provide a suitable load path from cable or hose, tofixed structure Reduce point loading at the termination to anacceptable levelBend StiffenerThe Bend Stiffener acquired its name because theconical shape gradually increases the overall stiffnessof the cable or hose in order to prevent over bending atthe termination point. Manufactured from elastomericmaterial, a bend stiffener is suited to the constant waveand current induced motion of dynamic installations butcan also be used for static applications.Bend Stiffeners are project specific and fully engineeredto accommodate the defined tension and anglecombinations as Trelleborg Offshore strive to perform atevery level to meet the customers’ needs. This hassignificant weight which must be supported by its own structureand ultimately by the drilling vessel. In order to reduce this weightin water to a more manageable amount, discrete buoyancy unitsare fitted along the length of the riser.Riser Attachments & Ancillaries - Designed to complementthe rigid Drill Riser Buoyancy Modules (DRBMs) so that thereis a comprehensive level of support while ensuring a seamlessinstallation of the riser system.Riser Protection - Protects people, structures and equipmentfrom all types of fire and corrosion in the offshore environment,as well protecting the riser itself. In the demanding environmentoffshore it is paramount to ensuring on-board safety.Crushable Foam Wrap - Designed to be installed around the innerdrill casing which is then immersed within the annulus fluid. Asthe pressure of the annulus fluid increases, the Crushable FoamWrap will collapse at a pre-determined pressure/temperaturecombination, allowing expansion of the annulus fluid anddispersing any potentially destructive pressure increases.9

Heat generated duringproduction operations can cause the trapped fluids toexpand and potentially create pressures in excess of10,000 psi.If not managed, annular pressure build-up (APB)induced loads can compromise well integrity duringproduction, either by collapsing the inner casing orbursting the outer one.The most effective mitigation solution for APB isto allow the fluid trapped within the casing annulusto expand, when critical pressure levels are reached.Crushable Foam Wrap from Trelleborg Offshoreis installed in the trapped annulus during wellconstruction and it is designed to collapse before anypotentially dangerous pressure occurs, allowing thetrapped fluid to expand. Reducing overall weight in water to amanageable amount is critical in expanding explorationand resource recovery to ultra deepwater fields.Trelleborg Offshore offers Drill Riser BuoyancyModules (DRBM) to safely overcome these operationalchallenges.
