For specifictest score or test requirements,see program description. TABEtesting is available at NFCC.Advance registration for testingis required. To schedule anexam, interested parties shouldtelephone (850) 973-9451.DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATIONFlorida State Board of EducationRule 6A-10.0315 requiresstudents to demonstratereadiness to perform college-levelwork by achieving or exceedingtest scores on an approvedcommon placement test (ACT,SAT, PERT, CPT). Test scoresare valid for two years. A studentwhose scores indicate a need fordevelopmental education will beadvised of all the developmentaleducation options offered andshall be allowed to enroll in thedevelopmental education optionof his/her choice. Based onSection 1008.30, FloridaStatutes, students may meetthe criteria for an exemptionfrom common placement testingand developmental educationinstruction. However, a studentwho meets the exemptioncriteria may opt to test and enrollin Developmental Educationcourses. When accessing the portalfor the first time, click the “FirstTime User” link and follow theinstructions to set up a studentaccount. From the landing page,click the icon to gain access.Desire2Learn (D2L)Desire2Learn is the learningmanagement system that housesNFCC’s online and supplementedface-to-face courses. Oncelogged into D2L, students will seetheir course(s) listed under “MyCourses.”Click the name of thecourse to begin.GoMailGoMail is the official emailcommunication tool for NFCC.Each student is assigned his/her GoMail address and isresponsible for all informationconveyed to the student via thisaccount.eBannereBanner is a self-serve databasethat allows students to register forclasses, view grades, pay tuitionand fees and check financial aidstatus.Degree WorksDegree Works allows studentsdirect access to degree auditsto track their progress towardcompleting their degree. Studentscan plan their class schedules,perform “What If” scenarios, seetheir grades and GPA and muchmore.e2CampusTo inform students of currentcampus emergencies, NFCC usese2campus, an emergency alertsystem that sends students textmessages or emails shoulda campus-wide emergency occuror should campus close due toinclement weather. Registrationfor this service takes only afew minutes. Students shouldcreate an account at http://www.e2campus.com/my/nfcc (links tothe site are also available in D2Land under the “MyNFCC” link onthe NFCC homepage). After astudent creates his/her account,a validation code will be texted tohis/her cellphone. The student’saccount will not be activated untilthe student logs in to e2Campusand inputs the validation code.FEE PAYMENTA student on any type of financialaid should contact the following:Financial Aid: The Office ofFinancial Aid is responsible forfinancial aid information. Call (850)973-1674.REFUND POLICYRefund of tuition and fees isbased upon the regulations listedbelow. A registered student mustofficially drop a course or officiallywithdraw from the College toreceive a refund of fees. Studentsofficially withdrawing no laterthan the “Last day to drop andreceive a refund” (see AcademicCalendar) are eligible for refundof fees as follows: Refund of 100 percent ofmatriculation and tuition feeswill be made when a class iscanceled by the College. Refund of 100 percent ofmatriculation and tuition feeswill be made when a studentwithdraws from or drops acourse before the last dayto drop classes and receivea refund. After this date,no refunds will be made forcourse withdrawals. Before refunds are disbursed,5

In cases of extreme personalor family hardship, or in casesinvolving other extenuatingcircumstances, the Deanof Enrollment and StudentServices may waive the aboveregulations.FEES FOR RETAKINGCOURSESSection 240.124, Florida Statutes,mandates that (as of Fall 1997)each student attempting the samenon-repeatable undergraduatecourse more than twice beginningwith Fall 1997 shall be assessedan additional per credit hoursurcharge beginning with the thirdattempt. Attempted hours includehours that have been dropped,withdrawn from, or repeatedunder NFCC forgiveness policy.Exceptions include any coursetaken prior to Fall 1997, attemptstaken at an institution other thanNFCC and any non-fee-liablecourse dropped or withdrawn.Out-of-state fees are assessed toindividuals upon a third attemptto satisfactorily complete acourse that is not designated as arepeatable course in the CollegeCatalog and Course Schedule.The additional tuition and feesmay be waived by the Dean ofAcademic Affairs. To apply forconsideration for the waiver of theadditional fees that are assessedon a third attempt, the studentmust submit the following: Petition for Exemption fromFull Cost of Instruction form Letter addressed to theDean of Academic Affairsexplaining circumstancesof previous failed attemptsand how circumstancesdiffer for the requested 3rdattempt Copy of student’s academictranscript Completed student scheduleplannerThe petition packet must besubmitted and approved by theend of the drop/add period forthe term in which the studentwould like to attempt the course.A fourth attempt may be allowedonly through an academicappeals process based on majorextenuating circumstances.6Contact the Office of EnrollmentServices for more information.TUITION-FREE COURSES FORTHOSE 65 YEARS OF AGE ANDOLDERInterested parties 65 yearsof age or older may apply foradmission as senior citizens.The admission requirementsapplicable to students under thiscategory include the completionof an application as non-degreeseeking/senior citizen andpayment of the one-time 20.00application fee. This is a specialcategory status and is not analternate form of admission forCareer and Technical Educationprograms or associate degreeprograms. Those applying foradmission as senior citizens mayregister up to four (4) credit hoursper semester. No academic creditshall be awarded for attendancein classes for which fees arewaived for students in thiscategory. This privilege may begranted only on a space-availablebasis. Registration takes placeon the first day of classes for anygiven term. Tuition is waived,but the student is responsiblefor the purchase of textbooks,instructional materials, and otherfees required for the course.STATE EMPLOYEE FEEWAIVERSThe admission requirementsapplicable to students under thiscategory include the completionof an application and payment ofthe one-time 20.00 applicationfee. A student with a StateEmployee Fee Waiver may enrollfor up to 6 credit hours of coursesper term on a space- availablebasis. Registration takes placeon the first day of classes for anygiven term. Tuition is waived,but the student is responsiblefor the purchase of textbooks,instructional materials, and otherfees required for the course.Students must submit theirapproved state waiver form tothe NFCC Office of Financial Aidbefore the published deadline topay tuition and fees.CANCELED COURSESThe College reserves the right tocancel courses when necessary.Students will receive full refundsfor canceled courses.COLLEGE CLOSINGPROCEDURES FOR WEATHEREMERGENCYIn addition to the e2Campusemergency alert system thatnotifies participants through emailor texts of campus closings, theCollege switchboard messagewill be modified, conditionspermitting, to indicate the closingstatus. The Governor has createdan Internet site that directsthe public to shelter during ahurricane evacuation. The webaddress is www.floridadisaster.org. If the College is not closedbut a student’s area hasemergency weather situationsthat may prevent the studentfrom attending class, the studentis advised to make the decisionconcerning safety. Students areresponsible for discussing thesituation with their instructors todetermine how to deal with theextenuating circumstances.FIRST CLASS MEETING /ATTENDANCE REVIEWA student is expected to attendthe first class meeting of eachcourse for which he/she isregistered. All courses aremonitored for regular studentattendance. Any student whoregisters for classes buthas not attended after the firstweek of classes will be withdrawnas a “no show.”ENROLLMENT VERIFICATIONAll student enrollment verificationwill be by official request only.Verification letters will not beprovided until after the end ofthe class roll verification period.Students who need enrollmentverification should make a writtenrequest directly to EnrollmentServices, North FloridaCommunity College, 325 NWTurner Davis Drive, Madison, FL32340. Written requests may alsobe faxed to (850) 973-1697.WITHDRAWING FROM ACLASSStudents who officially withdrawfrom a class by the publisheddeadline receive a “W” gradefor the class. A “W” counts asan attempt. The student mustinitiate the withdrawal procedure.The Withdrawal Form must becompleted and processed in theRegistrar’s Office in order for a

TheWithdrawal Permit is designedto document that the studenthas satisfied all obligations tothe College. If a student stopsattending class without officiallywithdrawing, he/ she will receive agrade of “WF.”EXCESS HOURS ADVISORYSTATEMENTSection 1009.286, FloridaStatutes, establishes an “excesshour” surcharge for a studentseeking a bachelor’s degree at astate university. It is critical thatstudents entering Florida Collegesare aware of the potential foradditional course fees. “Excesshours” are defined as hours thatgo beyond 110% of the hoursrequired for a bachelor’s degreeprogram. For example, if thelength of the bachelor’s programis 120 credit hours, the studentmay be subject to an excesshour surcharge for any creditsattempted beyond 132 credithours (110% x 120 132). Allstudents whose educational planmay include earning a bachelor’sdegree should make every effortto enroll in and successfullycomplete on their first attemptthose courses required for theirintended major. Florida CollegeSystem students intending totransfer to a state universityshould identify a major or “transferprogram” early and, by the timethe student earns 30 semesterhours of college credit, be advisedof admission requirements for thatprogram, including the approvedcommon prerequisites. Coursewithdrawals and/or repeats, aswell as enrollment in courses nonessential to the intended major,may contribute to a potentialexcess hour surcharge.GRADUATIONStudents must apply in writingfor graduation. Graduationapplications are available in theRegistrar’s Office.
