Unlike many trainingcourse publications this book may also be used by the students as a reference book after thecourse. This publication is ideal for people who would like to quickly gain an understanding of howthe software operates and explains how the software differs from Primavera P3 andSureTrak, thus making it ideal for people who wish to convert from these products.SPELLINGThis book is written in US English.AUTHOR’S COMMENTAs a professional project planner and scheduler, a Certified Cost Engineer and an ApprovedPRINCE2 Trainer, I have used a number of planning and scheduling software packages forthe management of a range of project types and sizes. There appeared to be very littleliterature aimed at the professional who understands how to run projects but requires apractical guide on how to use Microsoft Project in a project environment using theprocesses outlined in the PMBOK Guide. The first books I published were userguides/training manuals for Primavera SureTrak and P3 users. These were well received byprofessional project managers and schedulers, so I decided to turn my attention to MicrosoftProject. To produce this book I edited my Microsoft Project 2007 book to explain howMicrosoft Project may be used with the PMBOK Guide. I trust this book will assist you inunderstanding how to use Microsoft Project on your projects. Please contact me if you haveany comments you may wish to make on this book.ABOUT THE COVER PAGESTop rightLeftCenter rightBottom rightFootbridge over the Yarra River in MelbourneConocoPhillips Refinery in the UKConocoPhillips Refinery in the UKReece Dam Spillway in Tasmania, the author was a section engineerresponsible for the construction of this spillway.
