All Saints Gifted with Handcrafted CrossThis beautifully handcrafted crosswas built and designed by JohnLopreiato, a Technological Designteacher at Father Henry CarrCatholic School and a professionalarchitect. It was gifted to theschool by John, whose twosons attend All Saints CatholicSchool. During the planningprocess, John's vision was todesign and build a cross thatrepresented the dynamic energy of the school. Willow wood was chosen because of its natural deepcolour and varying shades. The cross is made of various alternating and undulating pieces that are stackedtogether to form a rhythmic movement. The base that holds the cross is stained a dark colour thatrepresents the earth, twisting itself to support the power of the cross. The focal point is the heart of thecross, where a laser etched crest of the school sits, representing the school's faith centered in Christ. Thecross is on display in the school's atrium and will be blessed at an upcoming school mass.
