PE42424UltraCMOS SPDT RF SwitchEvaluation KitFigure 12 Evaluation Kit Layout for PE42424The SPDT switch evaluation board was designed toease customer evaluation of pSemi’s PE42424 RFswitch. The RF common port is connected to thedevice through a 50Ω transmission line via SMAconnector J3. RF1 and RF2 ports are connected tothe device through 50Ω transmission lines via SMAconnectors J1 and J2, respectively. A transmissionline has been included on the reverse side of thePCB, accessible via SMA connectors J4 and J5. Thistransmission line provides an equivalent length to deembed PCB trace losses. DC and digital inputs areprovided to the device via J6.This PCB is constructed of a four metal layer materialwith total thickness of 62 mils. The top and bottom RFlayers are Rogers RO4003 material with an 8 mil RFcore. The middle layers provide ground for the RFtransmission lines. The transmission lines weredesigned using a coplanar waveguide with groundplane model using a trace width of 16 mils and 10 miltrace gap, with 2.1 mils of metal thickness. For the true performance of the PE42424 to berealized, the PCB should be designed in such a waythat RF transmission lines and sensitive DC I/O tracesare heavily isolated from one another.PRT-40105Page 10 of 14DOC-44114-6 – (11/2020)www.psemi.com
