Summer Reading Assignment for Incoming 4th GradersDue the first Thursday of Fourth GradeINCOMING 4th GRADERS1) Read books at or above your grade level throughout the summer for at least an hour per week and recordyour reading on the log attached2) Record your reading on the Reading Log provided by the district.3) Choose a book from your log that you read this summer.4) Decide one of the following reading activities to complete and bring to school by the first Thursday of schoolnext year. Student work will be scored for feedback, but the project will not be a part of the first markingperiod grades. Completion of this project helps teachers learn about your student’s abilities and help studentscontinue to read over the summer.Reading Choices for your Project (Bring one of these into school on the first Thursday):1. Choose one of the books you have read and create a project to demonstrate the answer tothis question. Your project can be in your choice of formats. You could create a poster demonstratingwho the character is and their traits, but your connections must be clear. You could create a visual torepresent the main idea of a text and the supporting details, but again, the visuals on the poster mustclearly connect to the text.Fictional Topic- Choose a character in your story and describe his or her traits,motivations or feelings. Explain the importance of the character in the text usingexamples as well.
